SunChips® brand believes that small steps can make a big difference. They have been taking small steps to help make their snacks in a better way. On Earth Day 2008, SunChips® and PepsiCo flipped the “on” switch at the first commercialized solar field in Modesto, CA, and began to save 1.7 million pounds of CO2 per year in the process. SunChips® has already eliminated five billion square inches of packaging. Their most recent small step is to pack some snacks in bags made of 33 percent renewable materials.
And now, an Earth Day preview. On Earth Day 2010, SunChips® will introduce the world’s first fully compostable chip bag of its kind.

What a cool idea. I love the song...
1My favorite snack! Harvest Chedder is so good!! Great company, great idea.
2Just another reason to enjoy SunChips
3great idea but we need it quicker lol
4A bit random, but Earth day is my birthday! I love that fact!!!
5I have the munchies...
6In order for it to break down it would have to be thrown away in a container or bag that also biodegrades. If you throw it away in lets say a plastic garbage bag that then gets covered up in a landfill, the chip bag is then useless because it cant break down. Think about a chip bag in a plastic water bottle. It will last for ages!
7That is awesome - love Sun Chips and love this idea - I agree though, we need this sooner! But this will totally encourage me to snack only on those, so tasty too!
8Mmmm...Sun Chips are yummy! And I love the idea too!
9I love Sunchips! Yumm! And this makes me love them evenmore! What a fun way to support green efforts!
Oh and Soljah09--- I think the point was that you can put the bag in with your compost. Not throw it away in a landfill
10Everyone should do this, like, today. Not in 2010 as a marketing strategy!
11does anyone know the song that's played? thx!
12I think it's great! I know it's a long time to wait...but not everything can be instantaneous. It's nice to think of the immediacy that the environment needs these changes to happen...but that doesn't always align with what is best for the company or the industry. Changes will come. We just have to embrace them and be patient. Let's be thankful that this is even happening!
