Phew, it's been quite the day of Paris. From learning the surprising news that she was released from jail early this morning, to hearing the press conference about it, to getting a lovely statement from Paris herself, there's been no escaping the story. So here's an update.

You'll be happy to hear (heh, maybe) that Paris has received her first visitors to her house arrest -- her parents, Rick & Kathy Hilton. According to Extra they're "very happy" and "glad to have her home." I assume her friends will start filing in to hang out at chez Paris tonight.
Not everyone is as happy as the Hiltons, however. City Attorney Rick Delgado released a (lengthy) statement about the situation. Here's an excerpt:
Today I was extremely troubled to learn that the Sheriff's Department has decided to release Ms. Hilton from custody just three days after she was admitted to county jail.
My office was not advised of this action. We learned of it this morning through news reports, just like everyone else. Had we been provided with the proper notification, we would have opposed the decision on legal grounds.
Now we've learned that Delgado has filed an official motion for Paris to return to jail and finish out her sentence. Well, someone wants attention. Whatever happens with Paris from here, it sounds like it won't be boring!

She was released because it was causing her stress and emotional trauma and she was on the verge of a nervous breakdown? Well, doesn't that describe any woman who would be thrown in jail for the first time? I know it would be causing me a bit of emotional stress. I would probably be in tears the entire time? Do you think they would let me out? No....I'm not a Hilton.
1its not attention chica belongs in jail forever
2WOOO HOOO! I so hope she gets sent back and Lee Baca gets fired.
3Just gose to show that if money can get you out of anything, And shes not going to of learnt anything from it
4it doesn't sound like the DA wants attention, it sounds like he has his head screwed on straight and is actually (gasp!) doing his job.
5I agree with the DA, emotional stress my butt! She commited the crime, now she must do the time! Any regular person wouldn't get this treatment. PUT HER BACK IN THE SLAMMER!
6she broke the law and deserves to finish her sentence in JAIL... I mean seriously, Being confined to her mansion isn't exactly punishment... hell I wish I could get sentenced to paris' house, assuming I'd be properly vaccinated and pumped up on antibiotics before hand...
7I am so glad someone is stopping the madness! That was the first thing I wondered about when I heard she got out today- didn't the judge order no house arrest? Awesome.
8I love our legal system.
9Paris needs to go back to jail. Just because she's "famous" doesn't mean that she should get special treatment.
10She's been ordered to appear in court at 9am tomorrow, according to a new AP report. She's appearing before the judge that sentenced her to begin with. Let's hope they throw her ass back in!
11It was a judge that sentenced her to jail and NOT ELECTRONIC MONITORING. They didn't go to the judge to overturn it. What happened to the justice system-shouldn't the judge been consulted?
12Well, I want it, too.
13I agree sofi! This case seems like a symptom of greater problems in our legal system.
How can they violate a judgement without consulting the judge or prosecutor of the case? How can they violate a specific term of the agreement without notifying the deciding judge? Very odd.
14This is the worse i ever saw her...she looks sickly! i now see that she has her daily tans normally, jail or not she looks gross, should get her back to jail though so she really get the point and feel the consequences which hopefully will be dramatic for her and she wont do those stupid non-thinking things again.
quite tired of seeing Paris = Negative news.
15From Trent:
Feel like sending a message of your own to the LA County Sheriff? You can't write to him here:
Leroy D. Baca, Sheriff
16Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department
4700 Ramona Blvd.
Monterey Park, CA 91754
She has the NERVE to order cupcakes hand delivered to her house while paps film and take pics of it. Its like sending the message: "Look everyone, I only have to serve 3 days for drunk driving and now I can have my vacation at home and eat cupcakes to celebrate!"
17I totally agree that this isn't a case of the DA wanting attention, how ridiculous! It's more a case of someone actually doing the right thing, attention or not.
18Jill I already wrote him and e-mailed him
19I did not hear of the cupcake story. That is just disgusting.
20here goes paris back to court, bahahahaha http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070608/ap_en_ce/paris_hilton
21She needs to go back to jail! Not to be mean to Paris but she is making a mockery of our judicial system, right I know it doesn't need help. I'm glad that money and lying and "favors" aren't winning everyone over. She needs to take complete responsibility for her actions and do as the judge says... serve your time for being a menace to society.
22I'm crossing my fingers she gets thrown back in. She should do the time she was given, just like everyone else has to.
23lickety split, I just saw that too! As a Paris fan, I'm glad that she's ordered back in prison. I still think that within the next 2.5 weeks, she'll be out of jail. Sounds doubtful now since her getting out of jail seemed to be some sort of procedural breach(had to have been if both the DA and the presiding judge were not notified of the intent to release her after 3 days.). I just hope she serves most of her sentence though and if she is let out early, that proper protocol is followed(meaning that both the presiding judge and the DA were notified, etc.), and that maybe she learns something from this whole ordeal.
24"wants attention"? I think it's actually called "doing his job"!
25GOD this stupid cow irks me to NO END. I am convinced that her "fans" are as stupid & deluded as she is. Who could defend this TRASH?
26"someone wants attention"? Pretty ignorant statement there. How about: someone wants a judge's ruling to be upheld and our legal system to not be made a joke of? Or maybe: someone's doing his job?
27How permagrin AWESOME would it be if she had to go back!!! LOL!!!!! Sounds like someone screwed the pooch and is gonna get into trouble for letting her go.. payoff maybe?
I think she should go back to jail and serve the original sentence of 45 days. HAHA.. won't happen but it would be like Xmas come early!!
28I agree with Delgado. I disagree that he wants attention, he wants justice. Isn't the whole idea of jail is that it is NOT fun?? For god's sake, anyone else would have been told too bad, she already had it a lot easier than other prisoners with her own cell. I hope she realises that drink driving can lead to the death or disfiguration of yourself as well as innocent vistims, although I seriously doubt if she's capable of understanding that, obvisously losing her license because of it didn't teach her anything. So poor Paris gets to lay around in her flash mansion, yeah thats punishment
29The city attorney doesn't "want attention". He wants the sentence the judge ordered carried out. The jusge expressly said "no house arrest" and there's the brat at home with her Egyptian Cotton sheets and her hand delivered cupcakes. It's a travesty.
30The only one who's using this for attention is Paris. She's sick. Not nervous breakdown sick, megalomaniac crazy narcisist (sp?) sick.
31Have you all written to the sheriff's dept, to CNN, MSNBC? Our outrage has power. Write! Now!
32The only person/people that want attention was the sheriff's department that defied a judge's order, the law, and went and made a deal to further his own career. The prosecutor is only doing his job as well as upholding the law.
33CNN is reporting that they have received OVER 3,000 emails expressing DISGUST for Paris and her behavior. The CA justice system has been a joke since the OJ trial and they just keep making it worse by treating celebrities like they are gods.
It's shocking that there could be anyone out there who could defend this complete WASTE of human life. She hasn't learned anything except that she can get out of everything.
34If we're lucky, she'll be back in her jail cell by lunchtime!
35Disgusting, especially because it was so predictable.
36Send her back!
37I really don't understand how a sherriff gets to commute a prisoner's sentence. Just because they run the jail, they get to determine sentences? Why bother having judges!?!?
38oh she needs to go back to the jail:S
39She will probably go back to jail because of how things happened, and when that happens I'll cheer (again)
40this is going to be a long 23 days.
41i was talking to my dad today and even he brought up paris. stop the madness! we need to send her somewhere with no cameras, phones, etc for about a year. no ll news lately, maybe rehab would work for paris too.
42ice queen, that isn't really her. I think it's the wax figure of her.
43a rumor I heard was that she was going through withdrawal from drugs/alcohol.
44just a rumor...
Ya know... I did my time she can do hers. 9 days and it made me reformed. I don't ever wanna get used to being there.
Send her back!
45a lot of ppl are pissed
46I don't agree with the "Well, someone wants attention." comment. Paris seems to have sidestepped the law here and the City Attorney is simply acting in a manner that appears to be supported by the majority of the people who have commented here.
47"someone wants attention"
What kind of off, irresponsible statement is that?!? Riiiight, I'm sure he's really enjoying the limelight of having to publicly deal with America's biggest parasite. He obviously just wants to see her sentence carried out. Yeah, what an attention wh*re.
Please, that skank should be thrown back into jail where she belongs. Isolated, of course, lest she start an outbreak of crabs and public lice. Thankfully, idiocy and superficiality aren't contagious (or are they?)
48Please send her back to jail! Do you know how many poor people can't handle prison mentally? Are they just let back on house arrest after 3 days????? NO! Go to prison Paris.
49jennifer76, that is so funny! Some Paris-free days would be so nice!!
...she's on South Park right now.
