I don't think it is unrealistic to think they could be friends. I am friends with most of my exes. I agree with incheto, if they liked each other enough to stay together for so many YEARS, they probably have a lot of positive feelings about the other person. Just because they broke up doesn't mean it was a bitter and dramatic ending. Tabloids would like all celeb break ups to be that way, and it is a lie that is easy for many people to believe.
