It's been a long time coming, but finally anonymous comments are enabled on PopSugar! We love hearing what all the registered users have had to say for all these years, but we also want to give newcomers a chance to weigh in when they stop by without necessarily having to register.
We still have rigorous monitoring in place — TeamSugar will be making sure that everyone abides by the rules of conduct, and we have new filters in place to keep the comments clean and constructive. Plus, in order to comment you always have to enter an email address. Whether it's a controversial subject or gushing about our favorite families we're always looking for new and better ways to hear what the entire community has to say.

noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
1Agreed LaurenG22 - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
2yeah, anonymous commenters are pretty annoying
3Its like they want to have us sugaries hate Sugar.
4First Citizen, giggle, and dear...now this.
ugh ... it's not that hard to register/sign-in before commenting.
5I would just like to comment anonymously how much I hate this site not that giggle sugar is gone. And Tres Sugar is simply the most ridiculous piece of non-sense.
6WTF has this site become? Seriously, I have been a member 2 years plus and have seen many changes, none for the better. And WTF is Sugar an advertisement now?
7Booooooo!
8I agree with Pinkprincess1. I get really annoyed when I see the same add 10 times in a row. Why do you do that?
9Why? this is not going to turn out good.
10I don't know about this...
11"And WTF is Sugar an advertisement now?" And by this I was referring to the sun ship advertisement or sponsor whatever the truth is.
12I'm commenting anonymously to say that it seems like no one in the teamsugar staff seems to take into account what the users think and how they feel about stuff.
13I'd like to share my disappointment for this decision by dropping a few f-bombs. Do they really monitor this stuff? (see next post)
14Stupid f*cking idea.
15Hmmmm....stars are automatically put into the f*ck. Do they have a similar automatic filter for meanness? That's usually the problem with anonymous posters.
16I flat out hate this idea. LOL
I am with Momma Tik on this. Why is this happening? The Tres
thing I adjusted some what to but this I predict chaos.
17uck, I have anonymous comments. if you don't want to associate your username to a comment, you shouldn't be allowed to say it.
18Guys this is a really bad idea. How annoying are the people on e-online and EW that post about meeting millionaires and crap like that? No, if you can't be bothered to set up a free account that takes two seconds, then we don't really need you.
19Also, when you don't have to use the same name each time, it makes people meaner to each other...
20yeah, i meant "hate" not "have" lol
21this is such a bad idea.the site is now going to flooded by anonymous comments everyday.first you got rid of citizen and dear and now this.i might need to find a new site.
22Allyce, I am with you - this is a terrible decision that leaves the site open to all kinds of spam crap posted as "annonymous"...
And I agree with everyone else, too - there have been lots of changes at Sugar, and not all of them are good. This one is NOT good!
Sorry, "Pop" and all the other sugar writers, I don't mean to be all negative - and it isn't directed at any of you...we know you aren't the ones deciding these things....
23Yeah, and now they will get on here about how we can still report their spamming/mean comments. GOSH, who wants to bother... over it.... over this whole damn site if it turns into DListed or some over shizz.
24I don't see how anonymous comments will help Sugar to be a better place.
25Jeez, I hope it doesn't get as bad as Dlisted. The unique character of the Sugar Sites is nearly gone. And, these Sun Chips ads are driving me crazy!
26This is a horrible idea. I don't see how this will contribute to any discussion here. It's easy to register and it's important to be able to identify people who are abusive. What's with all the changes?
27Wow, this is a really bad idea. With all the recent changes, it looks like I'll be spending even less time on this site.
28Anonymous comments: How do we tell the difference between them? Oh god don't let this turn into Perez or Dlisted, you WERE known to be better. And this site belongs to Pop she is not just a writer.
29good point, Pink - the anonymous comments could be the same person posting multiple times, different people, who knows? If you want to respond to a comment, how do you do that if someone is anonymous - I guess by posting the comment #?? It is sad, not all the changes are horrible, but the last two have been (merging Citizen, Giggle and Dear, and now the anonymous comments).
30Those of you mentioning DListed. Micheal K no longer does Anonymous comments. LOL You have to register to comment there. Perez does the same thing to. So why is Pop going backwards?
31To pinkprincess's point:
32http://www.sugarinc.com/page/5100
The anonymous commenters are always so rude.
33LOVEANGELINA, oh how I hate writing that, when I referenced Perez and Dlisted was more of a jab at the sponsorship and the overly done advertisement. Martini I guess we will have to remember #'s.
34Okay, so getting rid of Giggle and Dear--that might be because of the recession? Maybe maybe? But honestly, this move is pretty foolish. I agree with what many others have said: anonymous posting contributes nothing. What kind of people only feel comfortable posting anonymously? Well, probably people who don't want to be held responsible for their words. And honestly, it's not like having an account on Sugar divulges much about the poster... at all. This is just going to encourage (more) meaningless dialogue and arguments.
Super un-classy, guys.
35AbbyHintz which one I've written several.
36Well Pink as a former marketing and advertising major ADs really pay the bills. Thats why sites are full of them. For some that are annoying and keep popping up, on Firefox I have Ad blocker plus. The ads don't pop and I don't see the gigantic one anymore that is at the top of the site. The Sun Chips thing doesn't bother me. The Marley and Me ad on the other hand...
37Pinkprincess-just a link to show people who may not know that this site was started by Pop.
38This is what my friends and i call LE SUCK!!!! The sugar network is just not as fun as it used to be, and now we'll have all sorts of crazies i loved the fact that it was like facebook but for super cool women and now it's all gone to the dogs and it seems we no longer matter. First the whole tressugar fiasco and now we'll have all sorts of nut jobs lurking here. Well the moderators better get ready to work for their money.
39ditto what everyone's saying. why are any of these changes necessary?
40i don't think it's a good idea...
41Dear Sugar,
42you are gonna change the very thing that made popsugar special than the many other celebrity sites out there. Not a good idea. I agree with nyaradzom comments too...
Most of the anons I've seen so far have been snarky or warrant a response. Have you noticed the anons with names?!
If these 'anonymous' users have time to register a name and email, what is the point? How do you know the email is legit? What happened to the happy
COMMUNITY not open door that lets whomever in to say what they please and annoy others? I'll stick to team and private groups I guess.
43Yeah, Popsugar was the first site, but is Popsugar an actual person? Or is it simply writers posting under the Popsugar moniker - like it is for Bellasugar, Fabsugar, etc. ?
44OMG you guys, you type whatever name you want to into the name field and then give an email address and you can post.
45Love Angelina, that ad blocker software sounds like what I need....I am off to go find it!! Thanks!!!!
46Pop is the owner and a writer her husband Brian does all the layouts. I know AD's pay the bills, but that never seemed to matter before, I hate the Marley and Me AD's too.
47It won't be long till i deactivate my account at this rate, too much crap and not enough good stuff anymore
48I know who is going to be loving this news. Some of the previously deleted posters who used to create multiple accounts so they create arguments with other members, then back themselves up with their zillion alternate ids. Now they don't even have to bother to make multiple fake IDs.
Way to go Sugar network. I guess you missed those old days where the Jolie and Aniston threads would run hundreds of posts of arguments and thousands of hits. Even TMZ makes posters authenticate their email address for posting by emailing a link you have to click on before your post appears, reducing the free-for-all factor a bit.
49The only key reason I bother lately is because of TeamSugar; I stay for my friends and for my Onsugar blog(s). I used to enjoy the other Sugar sites however this anonymous comments deal is a huge step BACKwards.
