This morning on The View, Barbara Walters took a moment to discuss a rather interesting collect call she received yesterday afternoon -- from an incarcerated Paris Hilton. Obviously P didn't think her Saturday statement got her I'm a changed person message across enough. After telling Walters about dropping her appeal and the difficulties of the first few days in jail, she had this to say:
"I'm not the same person I was," she said. "I used to act dumb. It was an act. I am 26 years old, and that act is no longer cute. It is not who I am, nor do I want to be that person for the young girls who looked up to me. I know now that I can make a difference, that I have the power to do that. I have been thinking that I want to do different things when I am out of here. I have become much more spiritual. God has given me this new chance.
She went on to say that "God has released her." Wow, heavy stuff. She certainly has gone to great lengths to sound super spiritual, but I do wonder what it will be like when she gets out? Same old Paris?

God has released her? Child he never had you in the first place. I think her sentence should be extended and she should be sent to a jail in thailand then we'll see how depressed she can get. Ugh she needs to STFU

As for Paris, I think we all should just give her the benefit of the doubt. If she has found God that's great. hehehehe. I'm sorry I tried to keep a straight face while typing that but couldn't.

18i know shes only been in there awhile but i hope its at least slightly true, when the simple life came over here i was kinda shocked at how fake they seemed, it didnt stop me watching it because it was pretty funny, but after a while it got embarrasing. and shes 26 :0

21I must say I agree with her Sat statement that it's ridiculous this has gotten so much media attention but I don't believe she is heartfelt when she says considering she is an attention hog. If she wanted the attention to focus away from her she'd just sit in the jail quietly focusing on HER actions... once again her mistakes not ours...

Wow, as excited as I was for Paris to go to Jail (both times), I got to say I'm pretty anxious to see what she's gonna do when she gets out. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say there's gonna be a lot less bible carrying in public.
35No one's said this, but does anyone remember a while back Paris said the same exact thing about how her being dumb is all "an act"? And how she was going to change that image? I think it was when she was on Letterman or Leno a few years back. Well, she didn't change then, and she won't change now.
I'll believe it when I see it because words, like Paris herself, are cheap.

If she's found God and she's seen the error of her ways and she is a truly changed person, I'm very happy for her. We will see how she is from this point forward. Knowing her history and her family's history and the smart PR people around her, I'm not going to buy this until I see evidence of a true change. Until then, I'm going to continue thinking she's definitely getting her money's worth out of her "camp" because they're doing a great job of trying to reinvent her.

42This has got me thinking...What happened to Lohan's car accident? She left the scene of an accident, they found drugs in the car, etc. How come she isn't in jail or being tried right now? Will she have a court date coming up?

45I blame her parents mostly for the way she is. I saw a short blip on one of the news stations giving a brief history of the parents backgrounds and they said that Kathy Hilton has pushed her daughters into the spotlight (mostly Paris - no one was as interested in Nicky apparently) telling them to go to clubs to get themselves seen. Hopefully, Paris WILL use her celebrity, power and money to help those less fortunate than her when she gets out, as she said she would.

48The fact that she rushed to tell Barbara Walters suggests nothing has changed. I think the whole thing was staged with Kathy Hilton. Look how Barbara kind of tosses her hands up when she says "we are friendly", like she's puzzled at how she got the call in the first place.
