You'd think he'd have enough money that he wouldn't have to shill for some giant corporation. I guess all those homes, the fleet of helicopters and that army of nannies costs more money than I thought.

He resembles a monkey. He is SO NOT goodlooking. I heard on the radio this morning that AJ's old body gaurd HATED BP and is writing a tell all book that he says "will blow the lid" off of their reputation as #1 parents and #1 BF and GF. He also said that BP and AJ almost immediatly started having an affair and AJ Spent the night with Brad Pitt within the first 3 weeks of filming Mr and Mrs Smith. He also said that AJ spent almost an entire week away from Maddox while her and Brad went on a cross country motorcycle ride and 2 of their adopted kids had a problem with bed wetting because they had emotional problems that AJ doesn't want the world to know because she wants to seem like a person that can fix anything "broken", which she can not. He said she is constantly battling depression, and jealousy, and is usually sleeping and does not want to be disturbed by the kids or the staff when she's not filming a movie. All this comes to no surprise, I'm just glad their lies are finally going to be exposed.

Lots of American movie stars have made foreign commercials for many years now. This is nothing new. It pays a LOT of money for a day or two of work, and in the case of Pitt, who gives about 1/3 of his income to humanitarian causes, a day or two of his time in a commercial can make an impact on many people in need of help. Someone would have to be pretty self-absorbed not to take that opportunity.

I love how people think that they make these commercials so that a starving person will be saved somewhere. No wonder Brad and Angie scream about how charitable they are. It gives them PR cover for EVERYTHING. Cheating, ridiculous lifestyles, greed, you name it. And btw, it's pretty self absorbed to make your charity work all about yourself. Naming your foundation after yourselves. The press releases, the press conferences, the photo-ops, it never stops. No one cares who started the Red Cross, The Salvation Army, Amnesty International because the people who started them stay in the background.

I;m not saying that Brad and Angie aren't doing anything. I'm just saying that their charity work can't be used to explain away EVERYTHING. And I never said anything about Bill and Melinda Gates. I mentioned Amnesty International, The Red Cross etc. as a way of pointing out that not every charitable person makes the charity about themselves. Paul Newman gave away $100 million in the last two years of his life. No press conferences, no press releases. Brad and Angie might be charitable, but they are always self-serving. Giving away a million dollars the same weekend they have movies coming out, 3 movies in a row. Running to an orphanage the second they get caught having a relationship. The timing says a lot about the fact that their charity is not selfless.

And your point #14, is what? They're flawed, they may have a few skeletons in their closet. Oh my gosh! You mean they are not infalliable. Who would have thunk it. Everybody has some foilbes, and contrary to public opinion, so do Angie and Brad. Whether their motives are "pure" or not, at least they're doing something positive with their time and money. The public puts them on a pedestal, they don't do it to themselves. All of their eleemosynary deeds will not expunge their past transgressions, that's a given, but at least their doing something worthwhile, unlike many other celebrities. I chose to think they are pretty decent people.

My point is that they exploit charity work to promote themselves and to 'purify' themselves. That's not what charity work is for. Charity means doing something nice for someone and not expecting anything in return except for personal satisfaction. They have used charity work to get themselves out a scandal, to avoid bad publicity. They have used it to make money. They have used charity work to re-invent themselves, to get the public to like them. They have used it to promote movies, themselves. How can you not understand how effed up that is? If someone like Paris Hilton did that you would be thoroughly disgusted.

Cheating? Paul Newman took up with Joanne Woodward while married with children and dumped wife #1 with 3 kids under the age of 10 to marry Joanne. Their wedding date is the day after his divorce became final.

Self absorbed? A lot of the seed money raised for Paul's charities came from food products that had his picture on every label, which seems a lot more self-promoting than a foundation with your name on it. Overpriced, mediocre, and much of it unhealthy food I might add, but that's not relevant to this discussion. Paul himself often said that he only started those projects and much of the funding to sustain them came from large foundations.

Greed and ridiculous lifestyle? How many millions of dollars did Paul spend on his race team and race cars?

I still like Paul Newman. But like everyone, he is not without some personal flaws.

It's not that Peter Benenson chose to stay in the background. He talked to the media, mostly in the UK, all the time. But most of the world didn't know or really care who he was.

What made Amnesty International a household name was the series of Secret Policeman Ball concerts in England, followed by the Conspiracy of Hope tour in the US in 1986, which brought Sting, U2, Jackson Browne, and dozens of other musicians together, including an all-day show finale with live MTV broadcast. That brought Amnesty the largest surge in media coverage and membership in the organization's history.

Many celebs work with AI to this day, to keep it in the public eye. I can name a number of movies with AI posters or shirts placed in them. There have been dozens and dozens of celebs in their pubic service announcements for television--you can probably find some of them on YouTube. Patrick Stewart funded the "Patrick Stewart scholarship" for Amnesty International student activists for ten years. Even now, Amnesty has staff positions specifically for artist relations, because they recognize how obscure they would become without the media. They hold press conferences all the time for different report releases, but without a celeb involved, you hardly hear about it.

FYI not everyone who sees through the BP/AJ halo is a "Jen Hag" as one poster so eloquently put it .. many of us find it just a bit too coincidental that every time there's a movie to shill they either write a check (with great fanfare) or adopt a kid or get photographed in a "family fun outing" .. much like Miss Aniston, who miraculously finds herself a boyfriend when there's a movie to promote.

not one single person who reads this or posts here (SELF included) knows the truth about any of these people ... we can only surmise from what we see, and it's surprising how different the conclusions are among all of us ... 1) Nobody was talking about acting ability here. The criteria thrown down was marital fidelity, ridiculous lifestyles, greed and self promotion.

2) Paul Newman had many great accomplishments in his 83 years. Brad Pitt is 45. Compare what Brad has done so far, with 45 year old Paul Newman, which would be 1970. Still a handsome and talented actor who left his wife and three kids for another woman.

But Paul Newman didn't make the Sting until 3 years later, in 1973, and many of his best roles came later. Won his Oscar in 1987 at age 62. Won an Emmy in 2005. In 1970, Newman was not yet a race car driver or philanthropist, no camps for kids, no Newman's Own food line. Most of the accomplishments people praise him for came later in life, so you can't fairly compare his whole life's work to someone only half his age. I think even Paul Newman himself would have been kinder to the Jolie Pitts than some of you people.

I kind of feel bad for Brad. He's never been interesting without a woman and for as boring as people seem to think Jen is, they were probably perfect for each other in that respect. His threads are a drop in the bucket, comment-wise, compared to Angelina's threads. She's the only thing interesting about him. The only time his threads are longer are when she's in them too.
