Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt returned from Mexico and arrived at LAX yesterday all while wearing surgical masks to stay protected from the swine flu. The Mr. and Mrs. displayed the precautionary gear during their shirtless and bikini time in Cabo this week before they head on their actual honeymoon soon. As soon as the newlyweds returned home, Heidi was quick to hop on the Internet and pick out her favorite wedding photo from our extensive slideshows of all the best moments (see number two here). 21They simply irritated me before, but I have an issue with them making a media spectacle out of an illness that's killing dozens of people. They have millions of dollars and could have honeymooned anywhere in the world -- if they were this concerned about contracting swine flu, they should have cancelled their vacation or gone elsewhere.

27I dislike them and they are a waste of time to comment on, but i just wanted to clear the info up on the main header about them. The masks won't protect them from the swine flu (even if they're worn 24/7). The purpose of wearing them is to prevent the spread of your own bacteria to others. That's why doctor's wear masks - to keep their germs off the patients while in surgery. Seeing them wear the masks make me laugh b/c that's like telling the world that they are sick (and they are in many ways).
28The masks will also protect you from someone that has swine flu, isn't wearing a mask or is wearing a mask but not properly. So basically the masks will protect you in the event the infected person is not properly covered.
It is transmitted by droplet...just like normal flu. So coughing/sneezing when it sends droplets into the air. It can also live on surfaces until someone else picks it up, then continues to touch their nose/mouth/eyes with it and infects themselves.
Although it is a level 5 risk now, there has only been 1 death in canada/us from it. If you have a good immune system you should be able to fight it off like any other flu.
