Jessica Simpson scored big as Vanity Fair's June cover girl. Her image is next to the tag line, "You Call This Fat?" which is a reference to the unflattering photos taken of her earlier this year. The article and the cover are making waves already. While she looks great in the pictures, some people are raising the question of why the magazine is featuring her in the first place. So, tell us what you think — what's the big deal with Jessica's cover?

Somewhere
Um the girl is a no talent. Anybody who can't remember the words to their own songs doesn't need to be on Vanity Fair. On top of that Jessica Simpson is just there for no reason. Its annoying see this girl on what is considered an important magazine when she hasn't done anything important in years.
1I don't think she is interest enough to be in VF.
2is vanity fair considered importaint? really?
3i don't think that i necessarily understand why she's on the cover but it's the magazine's choice...so whatever. i just kind of feel like the cover isn't in line with what most of their covers look like, and i guess we'll just see how well this one sells on the newsstand.
4*yawn* Jess has nothing to talk about so she talks about her marriage to Nick Lachey to make herself relevant again! Sad when people talk about your failed marriage and your weight instead of your talent (or her lack there of)!
5I have not read the article, but I have seen a few quotes basically saying she really has no talent. I actually agree with that, but to put her on the cover of Vanity Fair boggles my mind. They even call her "unsuccessful"
I wish Jessica would vanish
6Thank God I stopped my subscription. Papa Joe must have paid for that cover. She has nothing going on. I just read the article and the writer wasn't that complimentary. Jessica talks about college, she never even finished high school! She can't remember the lyrics to her songs. I was a fan but now I can't stand her. That magazine is out of touch.
7Way to go Jess! Very Pretty....
8What's the big deal? While she may not be considered as talented or educated as another woman, it's still just a magazine cover. I just think the tag line of "you call this fat?" could have been improved to come off less defensive. It has a negative flair about it even though it's trying to convey a positive message.
9i think we all knew that jessica simpson would get skinny again just to be able to be on a cover of a magazine again.
10What's the big deal, they put all kinds of people we don't care about on magazines...I would say leave her alone, but if she wanted to be left alone she never would have gotten in the biz anyways... She does design some pretty cute (although cheap) shoes!
11Well, I think she looks good on the cover. It's a good photo. With that said, I think there was a considerable amount of photoshopping that was done, but that's practically considered normal these days.
12How should the world and when everyone is just like , "YOU ARE TOO FAT" if of every celebritie, there would be romours about that. The whole world specialy the teens would get thinner and thinner or fatter and fatter (because they're sad about they arent that thin) because they arent perfect
131. Is Vanity Fair really that desperate..I mean I know the economy is bad, but really?
2. If you are trying to prove Jessica Simpson isn't fat, then why not use un-photoshopped pictures of her? ...Oh wait because she HAS gotten chubby, and her pictures HAVE to be photoshopped!
LAME!
..I'm tired of hearing about her failed marriage with Nick Lachey, Her creepy relationship with her Dad, her relationship with Tono Romo and the Cowboys Fans, and of course the classic "body image" topic. And when the article comes out, and if even ONE of these topics isn't discussed I will be beyond surprised!!!
14Beautiful picture! The "You call this fat" tagline was obviously added on to sell issues though - the article didn't strike me as being particularly sympathetic. You haters might want to give the article a read before you whine about all the attention this girl gets.
15
the article, go away simpleton
16JS is not talented (or talented enough, IMHO) to deserve a VF cover. And, they aren't using pics taken when she was supposedly a little heavier (the famous muffin top and bad jeans, at a concert) If they use a pic taken after she's shed 10 pounds, then the cover story loses credibility. What they SHOULD do is a story in general on the media's unfair scrutiny of any female's 10 pound weight gain. The double standard of men's appearance vs women's is appalling.
17She's STILL going on about her weight, nothing unusual happened to it so why should anything about it be on the cover of Vanity Fair, or any other magazine?
18She looks great. People need to leave her alone. Everyone is so jealous of her!
19I think she looks gorgeous. go Jess!
20Papa Simpson, is that you masquerading as an anonymous pop poster???????
21Really VF? This is your cover? No better than US Mag or Star.
22I used to respect the mag, and though I get it trying to keep in touch with the young folks who will buy a stupid OK weekly with J-Chimp on the cover, they figure they'll buy this too, but there's staying relevant and then there's just plain selling out. They might as well have put Nicole or Paris or Miley on the cover...wait they did that last one.
23So what!!!! Good for Jessica, she looks great!
24because she's "young, gorgeous and recession proof" ..and would you rather see Madoff's lying face on the cover? or a hot chick?
25Ugh I'm so tired of her..w/e I don't read VF.
26did someone say starvation and photoshop?
27Vanity Fair, what has become of you...
How embarrassing for VF to have this talent-free, irrelevant pseudo-celebrity on the cover. Oh, and Oscar-baby is 100% right. Lets all celebrate the power of starvation diets (because Jess looked nothing like that a couple of months ago) and photoshop (because she ain't looking like this now either).
28Open mouthed fish pout in every single picture. That's her last ditch effort at using her only talent: Pout At Camera/ Hope Still Sexy. That article was fantastic, really trashing her!
29the sad thing is that Jessica IS talented but because of Newlyweds she has become a girl how is recognized more for what she's wearing, who she's with, and what silly things she's saying... and Jessica Simpson herself is bought into the whole thing.
30This is one magazine she is going wish she didn't pose for. The article is not flattering to her or her father. The pictures look good though.
31Those photos are nice but obviously photoshopped to death. So to use a line like "you call this fat?" with it is just stupid.
32Hmmmm, I think POPSUGAR is the one who is trying to raise the question of why she is on the cover. Controversy stirrer upper much?
33She should not have landed that cover. She is boring, unattractive, talentless and suffers from amnesia (hum hum, forgetting lines anyone?) so why????why??? why??? why does someone like THAT land a VANITY FAIR magazine COVER! if she was featured in the magazine, ok, whatever. BUT ON THE COVER? JEEEZ HOW DESPERATE ARE THESE PEOPLE??
34Why do so many people care that Jessica Simpson was on the cover of Vanity Fair? Does this directly affect you...your life..your family? Even if you don't care for Jessica Simpson and think she's "talentless"...how does she affect you. If you're tired of hearing about her "talentless, pathetic life"... don't listen to it. Saying hurtful things about someone you have never met is WRONG and sad. Jessica Simpson has her own life and obviously some people are interested in her....and if you say you aren't....why are you taking the time to read this blog or even post a comment?
