The NY premiere of Claire Danes and boyfriend Hugh Dancy's new film Evening was last night and seasoned celebs were out in full force. The film itself is based on the novel by Susan Minot and is about a dying woman played by Vanessa Redgrave who reveals a secret to her daughters on her death bed. Claire plays Vanessa as a young girl and Hugh plays her lover in the film. Rumor is the two met and fell in love on the set when Claire was still with Billy Crudup! It's no wonder then that Hugh was a little vague when asked about how their real life feelings translated to the screen. He says, "Screen chemistry, it's never actually as simple as it may seem. I mean, it's a nice tag, but the reality is that chemistry, or any kind of relationship between two characters on screen, is something that's worked on by actors and a good script, in my opinion."
Rachel Weisz isn't in the movie and wasn't looking her best last night, but she's got some big movie news too -- she's just signed on to star in Peter Jackson's adaptation of The Lovely Bones.

But how about instead of putting all the blame on Claire for being a homewrecker, how about putting the blame on Billy for leaving his pregnant girlfriend or on Hugh for hooking up with someone in a relationship. We give other females such a hard time, while excusing men's behavior.

Yes, things seem sketchy. But I don't think that 1. You can assume that Billy was forth coming about the status of his relationship and commitment to another woman (cheaters often tell their new woman that things have ended when they haven't), and 2. that she started anything new before she ended with Billy. It is possible that she felt an attraction to Hugh, and ended her relationship with Billy before crossing any lines.
Life is just too complicated to make assumptions!

18Just to clarify I was not giving Billy a free pass, he is very responsible for his actions. However, she does have a habit of dating her costars. Billy and her broke up in December, I have no idea when the movie above completed filming.
