On one hand it is embarrassing (she's ooooold), and hypocritical (to lip sync in a singing competition which u are a judge)...

But on the other hand, she looks hot and showed some great moves and pretty good stamina (and she's oooold).

Most pop performers including madonna all lip sync. They just wouldnt be able to do all that dancing and sing at the same time. Blame the record labels and execs for this folks. This stuff goes back to American Bandstand with performers doin that. Hell half he music is played by computer or a dat.

To be honest, I don't know Paula's actual age, but regardless she looks AWESOME. The choreography was fun, and yeah, it was annoying that she was lip-syncing, but you'd HAVE to if guys were tossing you around like that!

I like that she's pushing the envelope...what, because she's over a certain age she has to wear turtleneck sweaters from Lands' End and sing boring ballads? Fun song-- good, not great, but it'll be fun to dance to!

I think that Paula Abdul is amazing, looks amazing, and still has it!!!

It was kind of embarrassing to watch. Yes, she can dance, and the choreography was great...but she lip synced on a show about showing off your singing abilities...it was just weird.

Old is a relative term - she isn't oooold as a human being, she is old compared to the people singing, dancing, and wearing outfits like that on stages today (Mily Cyrus, Demi Lavato, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, etc...)

It is a compliment that she held her own as far as looks, dancing, and lip sync - but it is also embarrassing because there is a reason that the mainstream celebs in this area are under 25 - because you look silly otherwise.

It was a little weird that she wasn't really singing but is there to judge others on their singing abilities. It was hard to pay attention with all the *smacking* in the background of the video...

I was more excited to see Benji Schwimmer from SYTYCD on stage (anyone else noticed?) than Paula.

I thought it was a good dance number. It would have been better if she just gave up the act of pretending to sing, though. It's not like she was fooling anyone. Also, perhaps American Idol is not the venue for this...

i think it was a good dance performance..but i agree with the everyone else. She could have atleast sang SOME of it live if not all... you could tell completely that she was lip synching!! The fact that she is on a show that judges you on your singing abilities and she comes out lip sunching is pretty hypocrytical to me...

I didn't think it was that bad. I hate that she was lip synching, but I guess if Britney Spears can so it all through her tour then Paula can too.

I chose love it--although I think the choice saying she "sounded great" was funny since she didn't sing a word.

However, EVERYONE of these stars who puts on a tour like Brit etc. lip syncs, and with all the dancing Paula was doing I don't think she could have sang.

But, I just kept thinking for her age, she looked amazing---a moved better then these young people! GOOD FOR HER!

And I don't think this should affect her credibility as a judge--as someone above said--I read an article about how she has sold more records than ALL IDOLS combined, meaning winners and anyone else in the competition If that doesn't give her the credentials to judge, I don't know what does.

It was embarrassing to watch. This is a show about actual singers, and she is up there totally lip-synching to her over-produced song. She looked like a 50 year old trying to be Britney Spears. She looks good for her age, if only she would stop dressing like a street walker every week. Kara looks a million times better (wouldn't they have the same stylist?), and her comments actually make sense.

I give up on the beast that is American Idol... for all the righteousness and critique they give about singing what a surprise that Paula DIDN'T actually sing. Shocking!

I started watching AI in the beginning.. gave up.. came back last season and I gave up again after they ditched Alexis Grace this season. I can't deal with all the contradiction. I'd much rather invest in tv shows that promote themselves as fiction and really are fiction.

I did say "love it" because i think she pulled it off but she should leave it to the sub-30 artists. This stuff is bubbe-gum and youth focused. She's not Madonna.

I watched about 30 seconds.. couldnt watch anymore. She is waaaay too old for this. Of course she has a hot body, but comeon, dress age appropriate. Sorry to all those that love her, she needs to drop this music idea. She will NEVER be a big star.

Any song I hear with that synthesized voice over crap makes me want to cringe. Can someone please be original already, Cher did that years ago, and everyone else copies. Nothing wrong with lipsync if she is showing off her dancing skills, but does she need to sound like Britney Spears to get attention!

She just sux and is old and anoying! I think they should get rid of paula and kara and find some one respectable to judge.

I'm happy for her! I always loved her style. She knows how to be sexy and powerful without coming off like an overly sexualized skank. And of course she had to lipsync since it was an intensive dance performance! She is still an awesome dancer!! Go Paula!!

It was terrible and embarasing to watch. She has never been known for her singing ability- her singing career was short lived. She is well known for her dancing and choreography. It was out of place - could they not get anyone else to perform? But even if I had seen it somewhere else I would have been embarrassed - she was out of shape. There is plenty of "pop princess" at the moment, we don't need a 40 year old doing it. I am not saying she has to cover up her bod with turtle neck sweaters and "act her age". It just didn't look right and didn't feel right. How many people went "wtf", when they heard that she was going to perform? Someone commented about why she is a judge, if she can't sing - look at all the judges, Jackson and Cowel are record producers and the only ones who know real talent when they see it. Paula was put on the show initially for entertainment, to pester Simon and the new judge is a song writer, but not a singer.

That last night was a disaster. I think she is slowly losing her marbles - she dresses pretty bizarre, week after week. Her jewelry is awful and her short lived "reality show" showed how nuts she is becoming. I feel sorry for her - she had big dreams (bigger than a host on AI) and they just haven't materialized.

She will soon be 47, which is a big difference in "40". I know, I've experienced it.

I love her than ever . She look amazing,high class,classy and unique, American idol need to have Paula, Simon ,randy and Ryan .if don't have them . Nobody want to see the show. I just don't like new judge.she is horrible.

I think it was a good performance. She is not old look at Cher, Dolly Parton, Stevie Nicks, Madonna, Tina Turner and many more (all of whom perform in their 40s and older). I remember in the 1990s, watching Tina Turner, who was in her 50s, perform in such a high energy way that eventhough I was in my 20s, I got tired just watching her.

As for lip sync-ing, I think it is difficult for most to dance and be thrown around while singing. I do not see the contestants doing a full-fledged dancing performance, while they are singing. That is not why they are there. She is not in the competition, therefore, who cares if she lip syncs in order to do a more entertaining and energetic performance.
