Christian Bale carried his daughter Emmeline's backpack and jacket as he and Sibi picked her up at school earlier this week. When he's being a family man, it's hard to associate Christian with the infamous rant that got him in so much trouble earlier this year. He's supposedly avoiding doing press for Terminator Salvation because he doesn't want to be asked about it. When he apologized at the time most of you forgave him but it's still a topic on everyone's mind. He recently talked about it to Esquire UK saying:
"It’s not excusable what I did. I went way overboard. A lot of it was to do with the scene we were doing and stupid as it may sound to a lot of people, my character was going through a great deal in that particular scene. The person on the receiving end is a grown man. Believe me, he really wasn’t fazed by it. . . Like I said, I had it coming. It should never have been recorded. It was recorded for jollies. But I’m not trying to cover up. So there’s not embarrassment in that I wanted to keep it hidden. I’d done it in front of a whole lot of people. I take full responsibility for it. I’ve never said anything different. I’m not blaming it on anything. I took it a bit too far."
Taking all that into account tell us — does Christian Bale's rant still affect your feelings toward him?

NOPE! It didn't have any affect on me the first time. Now let's stop living in the past and bring on Terminator!
1I'm w/ tiabia. He's an intense actor and being interrupted in the middle of a scene is obnoxious. Sure, he could have handled it better, but he's human.
2no - i moved on from that one ages ago actually. i've never really allowed that to cloud my opinion of him...and i can't wait to see him in his new movies (aside from Terminator since i'm not a fan)
3It didn't affect me ever. Why would it? People get pissed. People react poorly. We all do. We're just lucky that our lives aren't lived under a microscope.
4He made a sincere apology and other people have backed up that usually he's pretty laid back.
5It never affected my feelings toward him. If anything, it made me like him even more. People flip out, that's human nature. There's no need for him to keep apologizing.
6He's a douchebag.
7I've never really cared for him, but I could have cared less about his rant. We're all human, we all do and say things we regret that reflect poorly on our character... but unlike him, we're not all taped doing it! It's probably not his finest moment, but worse things could have happened to him.
8Nope!!!!!!!!! Never did. Christian is amazing. He lost his cool with the guy doing his job poorly and he was very sorry about it. I still adore him and think Christian is awesome. The only Terminator movie I like is the second one but this one looks badass I may have to go see it.
9If anything, it made him more human. We all make mistakes. But most of our mistakes aren't recorded and broadcast around the world. I can't wait to see Terminator and Public Enemies. He's got a gorgeous family, too.
10It never affected me in the first place.. we've all been angry before and said things we shouldn't. He apologized about it. Would he have apologized for his actions had it not been released, maybe not, but either way, I love me some Bale.
11People are people and do get pissed, but this was not the first incident of his bad behavior. I refuse to see his movies and cannot stand to look at him period.
12Someone told me recently that CB had been approached originally to do this and he turned it down because it was a typical explosions and no-plot testosterone-fest. He said he'd consider it if the brought him a script that he would be willing or able to perform on stage without all the bells and whistles (aka, doesn't need to go boom to be good) and they did that for him. Makes me think that it might actually be well-written and have a decent plot and might be worth seeing.
13Half of us here refused to see Tom Cruise's movies after his crazy couch jumping. How is this different?
14I see it as different because Tom Cruise comes off as a crazy, scientologist, control-freak and the couch-jumping episode (which he purposely did on one of the most-watched talk shows on the planet) was the cherry on top. This guy got caught on tape yelling at someone who f*cked up the work he was doing and it was sent around the internet. Since no one really knows what happened in that incident with his sister and mother - where the charges were dropped - I'll reserve judgement on that one.
15THIS IS AN ORDINARY DOUCHEBAG, folks.
16............and a dated one too!!
How people conduct themselves when they think no one is listening/watching says a lot about their character. I am glad Bale apologized, but when I watch his movies, it's not the same.
17Loved him before, loved him during, love him now. He's still my favorite actor.
18yes we are all human but he went way way too far which to me indicates there might be a problem.
19Let's not forget the guy he humiliated is human too.
All I can think of is the hilarious remixes and mashups that came out of it. lol.
Can't wait to see Terminator: Salvation.
20Pfft, I've had bigger tirades over my neighbors parking in my spot. He is pure sex.
21No way, didn't change my opinion of it at all. I think everyone has the right to get really ticked off at someone else
22*him* I meant not *it as in the movie
23I never thought less of him. He's human, he makes mistakes. We all do. So, we really have no place to judge. He's still amazing. Still love him.
P.S. Very glad to see that so many people here don't hold anything against him. For a while I thought EVERY one hated him.
24i was a really big fan of christian, as i always do back someone from little old blighty doing well in America or on a world wide scale......but for me i'm just a tad disappointed in this....he is a brilliant actor and i can't fault him for that, but in regards to being a bit of a twat he was a huge one from what i herd on that tape, i sort of wish i hadn't herd it....but there you go everyone makes mistakes and im sure and hope he has learned never to speak down to anyone again.....
25Yes. It still affects me. I remember very well he humiliated a co-worker in front of everybody who was on that set and I didn't buy that half-a$$ apology. People make mistakes, we do it all the time...but he was truly and undeniably a major a**hole.
26And since I never thought he was the great actor some people claim, I can easily skip his movies from now on.
27Also, I find it ironic that people defend Bale by saying the old "he is a human being, he makes mistakes" yet they forget the person he treated like horse sh*t is also a human being, who made a mistake -- in my opinion, a much less grave mistake than Mr. Bale's one.
28Forgive him? Really??? Please - there was NOTHING to forgive. It was his temper, his work, not ours. Why should it affect anyone off the set? How ridiculous of a poll.
People lose their temper from time to time. It happens. And it's human.
Folks need to get a grip if they allow this to affect them personally.
Btw - I'm only anonymous as I am still unable to sign in. I've seen too many folks jump on anon commenters, so I wanted to make that clear.
29it never really affected me. I felt bad for the guy that got b*tched out, but you know sh*t happens, & Bale apologized for it profusely.
30Yes, I still think he's an *sshole.
31I love it when people get all holly and pissed off about something that didn't happen to them. Everyone gets mad Eveday and you especially seem to feel the need to rant constantly on every site you can find that has anything to with Bale. That's sad. I've seen this same screen on other sites b*tching about this actor as if he did this personally to you. Everyone knows the guy he yelled at is human and shouldn't have been treated like that. I'm sure that after it happened, and lets all remember this happened over a year ago, he apologized for what he did. None of us were there we don't know the entire situation and we never will. Everyone needs to stop acting like he came over to their house and pissed in their own personal cheerios. It didn't happen to you, stop b*tching about it like it did. As for me it surprised me at first, then I moved on. He's still my favorite actor.
32I was never a fan of him before but who cares. It wasn't that big of a deal in the first place.
33NOT AT ALL.
34I believe him. He's actually of of the few actors who I can believe took his chracter too far. His work speaks to his dedication. He made a dick move but since he and the guy involved are over it, I see no reason why anybody else should dwell on it and take it so personally.
35Not one bit. Newies everyone. Newies!!!
36For those that voted yes: Like you seriously believe he is the first actor ever to blow up on a set? Give me a break. And as far as apologies goes, his was probably one of the more genuine ones I've heard from all the other celebrities and sports stars who simply have to "perform" a public apology to clear the air. Bale at least sounded sincere. There are tens of thousands of other problems in this world to preoccupy yourselves with then one actor blowing his top over a year ago! And for that matter, you only give in to tabloid media's volume raising of the subject by continuing to tune in on this stuff. Ugh. Bale, I'm rolling my eyes along with you. Can't wait for Terminator Salvation. Seriously, who else could they have picked to play John Connor? No one else, seriously. No one else. You ARE THE MAN! F***k everyone else.
37Wish it didn't matter but it does I have not heard an apology that I felt was genuine.
38Of course I don't mind at all! I will always love him no matter what! Always! He is just like a dream come true! I wish I know him before.
39Maybe the apology he gave the public doesn't seem genuine because he doesn't owe the public an apology and he knows it? The only person he owes or owed an apology to is the guy he took to task for twice f*cking up a scene they were filming in a multi-million dollar project. Convenient that they didn't get THAT on tape and "leak" it on to the web - just the tirade.
40I just wish he hadn't apologized. He wasn't yelling at me.
41I think it is insane that people get so fired up about this. We aren't allowed to get angry anymore?
Do we seriously expect people to just not get pissed...ever?
LAME!
I will definitely go see his movies because he is one of the few actors in Hollywood that is more concerned with doing a great job rather than how pretty he looks in front of the camera.
Everyone gets mad Eveday and you especially seem to feel the need to rant constantly on every site you can find that has anything to with Bale.
@Anonymous # 32. I voiced my opinion about your favorite actor's rant on 3 websites: Popsugar, UTube and Flickr. I don't know how good you are with maths, but 3 does not equal to "all" or "every site you can find". If you think *that* was b*tching then I'm really sorry for you for not accepting one might not like what your idol did. That's truly pathetic, not sad. It's my opinion and YES, it felt like it happened to me because I felt empathy for the guy. You can defend Bale all you want, I don't care. I have an opinion about him, his acting and his rant and I will stick to it.
42he is a great actor, alot of potential... and i would have probably reacted the same way if someone was being unprofessional over n over again during a shoot... i don't blame him for acting the way he did in the first place!
43fleurfairy [For real?? This guy went on for like 15 minutes which was WAY OVERBOARD and acted like a complete bully and humiliated a co-worker. HE IS AN IDIOT!!! I really cant believe all the people apologizing for this tool. I really cant stand him anymore. There are so many more deserving actors out there who can easily do his roles. I say I hope he just goes away.
44KVG88 I think not!!!!! Reads like Christian Bale logged in and took advantage of anonymous comments:P
45Ridiculous behavior. Everyone makes mistakes? Hmmm. Would you forgive others in the workplace. If your co-worker spent over 3 minutes screaming the F-bomb at you, would that be okay. Childish. Actors are glorified and worshiped and overpaid. If we all focused more on our personal development, actors, athletes and CEOs would not be paid billions of dollars. They put their pants on the same way, eh?
46I understand him because I was used to do like him. I think he has some trouble controlling his temper. I think this incident would be invaluable experience for him to become a real adult. Losing temper is always allowed only to children. Still I like him a lot since I know there are a bundle of worse people around us like fascists. So I have watched Salvation twice at the theater.
