Mel and his wife have been seperated for 3 years, and aloud to date other people. its not a secret that he was going out with this woman.

There's no reason for Lance Armstrong to air dirty laundry now. And biological clock? Isn't his girlfriend pregnant or just have a baby?

3 years separated, all his children grown up enough to understand that they didn't work together anymore.. let's face it you don't drink like that unless your really unhappy. And now he's standing up and doing the right thing by his new girlfriend. I don't see what's so wrong with Mel's behavior.

I thought Mel was this extreme Catholic, aren't they against divorce and sex before marriage etc etc? Seems like he's stepped away from his believes.

Mel does claim to be a devout Catholic and even built his own church, where his daughter got married. So divorce, sex outside of marriage, and especially having a child out of wedlock is going to be a problem for him. Even if he married the woman, a new child would not be accepted as legitimate by the Catholic church. This will impact his credibility with the religious right, who were the big supporters of his most financially successful film, about Christ.

And no, not all of his kids are grown. He has a nine year old son living with his soon-to-be ex-wife.
