The cast of Inglourious Basterds posed at a photo call at Cannes today before heading over to their press conference. They all joked around as they smiled for photographers with Brad Pitt perfectly put together in his Tom Ford suit and Diane Kruger looking gorgeous in her LBD. Brad and Angelina Jolie arrived on the scene yesterday and hosted a dinner for 60 guests at the same restaurant where Robert Pattinson was eating. The film festival's star power is going strong now, although Brad still seems to get embarrassed by his fame, as you can see in his interview with Ann Curry after the jump. At the press conference and in his Today Show interview, he speaks about meeting Quentin Tarantino and about his family. Here's more:
- On his first meeting with Quentin Tarantino: "He had me at hello . . . We went out together . . . I got up the next morning and saw, like, five empty bottles on the floor and some sort of smoking device on the floor. Then, somehow, six weeks later I was doing the film."
- On the cast: "As I get older, it's about the company you keep because you're away from your family. Sometimes for months."
- On his family life: "Angie's been working, and I've got to be home a lot with the kids. Let me be the cliche — it's really rewarding . . . Where am I heading? It's still been about discovery, and finding new things and new things of interest. The kids are certainly responsible for a lot of that. I'm right in the zone. One of the most on track [times of my life.]"
Brad appears be in a happy place right now, and we can't wait to see him and Angelina walk the red carpet at the film's premiere later today.

Oh, god.. that interview with Ann Curry was so awkward. She kept touching him--she even reached up and touched his face! So weird.
1LOL I saw him on the Today show this morning as well and my reaction to his ascot wasn't a positive one. I thought the interview was awkward as well but its not his strong suit, never has been, he seems to be very shy...and humble. However Brad does look good and I am so excited to see Angelina on the redcarpet.
2brad pitt is soooooooooo fit and looks soooo good for being over 40
3and hes growing old gracefully !!!!
He looks like he's wearing a costume. Quite awkward and uncomfortable and that toupee! Oh boy!
4he was phony in that interview. So transparent. Like he doesn't know his whole career was based on his looks. hello! that's why he takes extra care of his skin and uses botox. The reviews for his latest movie range from decent to bad ... FOR BRAD'S ACTING. haha! He's not even the lead in the film.
5haha - "really...really, really...thank you, let's move on." Seriously, couldn't Ann have masked her hormones a little better??
6He looked so uncomfortable in the interview particularly when Ann mentioned Jolie. I don't remember the last time he was so uncomfortable with questions about his family. It is not necessary to give a lot of info, but he could at least act more pleasing like he was in his previous interviews. This is Ann Curry, you know the woman that does most of the interviews with this couple. He should feel comfortable by now. It's not like they (him and Jolie) just started dating a few weeks ago.
7He felt uncomfortable because he's aware of the fact that half of the world can see right thru him. I say not very good actor if he can't play his own game.
8W T F is he wearing?
9Brad Pitt takes on the personality of a woman he's with. He was the male version of Gwen, Jen - and now Angelina. His discomfort with the interview mimics Angelina's discomfort with interviews. And when has this "it's so awkward / I really do not want to be doing this" vibe, the interview is going to be uncomfortable for everyone involved. As a celebrity who's more famous for his looks and relationship then his work, Brad should understand that he's going to be asked about his personal life.
10As he says himself, still drinking and using the smoking
11device. Not good. Michael Phelps got in a lot of trouble
for it and yet Brad, a very public figure, laughs about
it. What kind of a example does that set for his kids?
There is no glory and it isn't funny that he is still
12using a smoking device. Fine example for kids.
diane looks AMAZING there - i'm so glad that she's got a film at cannes. i just with that JJ was there with her!
13I watched the press conference on the Cannes website, very entertaining!
On a different note, those anonymous comments really get on my nerves...
14You guys analyze this stuff way too much. He tries to focus the interview on the movie and director. It was really unprofessional of Ann to keep trying to turn it on his personal life and talk about his looks and how envious women are of her to be there with him. Really, what man would comfortably want to chat about that? It's a film festival, and he's there to talk about his film.
15I agree completely with Ginger.. I didn't find Brad that awkward, it's Ann making things awkward for Brad.. seriously, Brad is like that in the interviews..It was Ann turning the questions to his personal life, his looks, etc, of course he's going to be uncomfortable, he was fine when he was talking about the flim.. c'mon, it's a film festival.. just ask the questions related to films.. there are so many questions that Brad fans want to know about his movies and projects.. It just annoys me when reporters are so unprofessional and poking for stupid answers
16Hockey Princess I gotta disagree. Angelina is nothing like in Brad interviews. Angelina is a good speaker, she always gets her point across, she gives a good interview, and she is humble yes, but she is never awkward like Brad is. Brad has always been that way in interviews. Always just really shy...and maybe the pressure of this film is getting to him, who knows but he if he took on Angie's personality he would be a better interview.
17I saw the interview and agree it was very uncomfortable. I think it was Ann Curry. She completely fawns over him, and does the same thing when she interviews Angelina. She touched him several times, including touching his face at one point. NBC needs to reassign her, it's embarassing.
18exactly !
If there is one thing everyone agrees with Angelina is her ability to be ELEOQUENT in public. She is never shy or awkward or doubtfull in interviews.
She is intelligent, intuitive and intellectual and a great public talker. You can tell that she actually reads a lot of serious stuff and has a way of telling things eloquently publicly.
19wow look at the waxy glow he's sporting. a mix of rum and botox. lmao
20angelina humble? are you kidding? when did that happen?
21I saw the interview and thought it was cute. They seem to like her (she nabs almost every interview with them) even though IMO she's not a great interviewer. Thought the line about the 5 bottles of wine and smoking device was a joke. I also don't blame him for wanting to stay on topic (you know, the movie). Things have changed so much. You would never hear an interviewer ask Newman or Redford questions about their families, why does the public feel they have a right to know about the JPs personal life? They put their family out there enough in the hopes of squelching this insane interest but it never works and they are still stalked. Guess it's the 24/7 news outlets and the numerous bottom feeder rags that have changed the game.
22Everyone's looking good
23Brad looks like his stylist selected that outfit and he hates it. He is WAY too stiff!! Great if I was looking at a Macy's catalog.
24Hockey Princess your comment is insightful.
25Never cross my mind.
Diane looks gorgeous -- and apparently I'm the minority, but I actually like what Brad's wearing! It seems very fitting for Cannes. I can't wait to see this movie.
26i'm with you, lukin, think brad looks good. how can you not when you're wearing tom ford suit? and the ascot, scarf, thing-a-ma-jig around his neck .... ok, not feeling that, but at least he isn't wearing a newsboy cap!
27brad looooook fit
