Scarlett Johansson and Pete Yorn recorded an album of duets back in 2006, and the collaboration, called Break Up, will finally be released in September. Scarlett has since put out her own collection of Tom Waits covers called Anywhere I Lay My Head, but most of you weren't feeling her music. Check out Pete and Scarlett's "Relator" below and tell us — do you love it or leave it?
For some reason I like this. I love Pete Yorn but can't stand Scarlett's singing. It's just sad. But this works.
I never heard her solo stuff, but that wasn't half bad.. I was expecting the worst
I LOVE Pete Yorn but she ruins it.
Her voice isn't have bad now that it has been altered. Too bad she'd never be able to make it sound as good live.
Everyone should seriously check out Pete Yorn's music, he's amazing! http://peteyorn.com/main.html
He sounds great!! I am totally checking him out.
I totally agree with comment #4
eh...her voice is annoying...but i do love pete
wow she really dosnt have a good voice. maybe because her timbre is so low, but when pete sings it sounds amazing and when she does it hurts. less singing scarlett
Her voice just doens't match Pete's and the song is waaaay better when it's just him singing. She can't really belt it out.
She sounds very similar to Zooey Deschanel, IMHO.
I LOVE PETE YORN, so all I care about is that Pete is finally getting some more publicity, even if it is with ScaJo. Pete's the best.
I mean ScarJo. Whatever.
Someone mentioned Zooey It will be a lot better with her, I liked the song but Scarlett singing not so much.
I like it. I am one of the few that thought her album was actually very good. she's got an interesting voice.
I like Pete Yorn too
I love Pete but I am so disappointed he collaborated with ScarJo. I am sure he will get some publicity for this but I can't stand her singing voice. He of course sounds great.
she's better at singing than acting. okay?
There are no words to describe how much I loved this! I have no idea who Pete Yorn is, and I don't care for Scarlett's movies, but this song really spoke to me. LOVE!!!
Decent, but I can't help thinking Zooey Deschanel would have been better.
I love the song - very catchy and surprising (from Scarlett).
She's okay. Well, not really. Her breathy, scratchy girly voice really quite annoys me.
Her voice makes me cringe.
It's weird to see Pete on a celeb site, I love him and have been a fan since '01-great he's getting recognition though. She's not that bad, she sounds good on "Shampoo" but is mostly in the background
She's such a talentless b*tch - singing, acting, looks, the works. Ugh! Massive FAIL, ScarHo.
Love Pete Yorn. Scarlett is awful and makes this unlistenable for me. Sounds like she has marbles in her mouth. Make it stop.
I remember her solo stuff being a lot worse than this. This was actually pretty ok. Not in love with her voice, but I do think that Pete Yorn is what made it palatable.
I like it, even though I'm not a fan of her voice.
I'm surprised I like this song.
Love the song..
i love pete yorn.... i have for ages it's the perfect chill out music
however, scarlett definitely needs to stick to the acting. i like this song but because of pete.
should everyone sound like beyonce or mariah carey? now, that would be boring. she has an interesting voice, untrained and rough
it's great!
Rather good song, but that's down to Pete Yorn whom I've always adored.
Can't really stand Scarlett's singing though. Doesn't sound genuine at all.
LOVE Pete Yorn, in fact I wish he sang the whole song by himself. Scarlett sounds really affected & like she's trying too hard to be moody & unique. She'd probs be better off not overthinking it & singing in a natural, less nasal, way.
She doesn't speak like that, I wonder why she sings like that? I can't even imagine the voice coming out of her. I agree with #33!
I like the album cover though!
I wouldn't mind if she quit both.
um, her voice isn't great for singing...Zooey D has a nice voice or at least she did in "The Elf"....haven't heard Pete's name in a while
i think she's trying to hard to have that old style voice (i dont know how to describe it) like amy whinehouse, duffy & adele (sp?). Her voice is too altered for me to have any serious feelings about her music.
I like the song, it's different
As for Scalett's voice, it's a little "off"...
I can't wrap my brain around the fact that that is her singing. I almost don't believe it. I hated the solo stuff, but don't mind this. Probably because Pete Yorn is a GOD.
Love it! Such a great song!
I actually like it... Scarlett's voice is different, but definitely in a good way...
I actually kind of like it! MUCH better than that train wreck of a single she released a while ago!
I like the song, I like Pete Yorn but Scarlett is painfully bad. I still don't get why people like her. She is ugly and has no talent - singing or acting.
the album as a whole is really solid. The voices are very stripped down, gritty, pete yorn live-ish. I for one love her voice and think her's and pete's voices compliment eachother perfectly!
So...typically I gag when I hear Scarlett sing and its almost shockin how many people think she sounds like a "goddess" but because her voice is kinda muffled here, and the accompany music is great and of course pete, this is bearable!
I have some opportunities to do some DJ-ing at a few clubs in New Orleans, La. so I think I kinda have an ear for music - its a passion.About a year ago I had the misfortune to stumble upon Miss Johansson's album of Tom Waits covers and after my ears stopped bleeding, I quickly threw it in the "never listen to again even under threat of torture" pile. I am quite aware that Tom Waits has a voice that can be likened to a cat being tortured with sandpaper, but has "style". Ok, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and you know the saying - they all stink so here's mine. While this effort is supposed to have been recorded three years ago, the girl who could not carry a tune on "Anywhere I Lay My Head" now sounds remarkably like Amy Winehouse, Duffy, & Adele. If there is not some very major studio clean up/effects & dubbing/ some other singer here then I am Mother Theresa. While the tune is catchy as pop can be, I would really like to know who actually is singing this, maybe she should get a record deal... or an acting contract like Miss Johansson who appears to be a little self indulgent here, helped along by Mr. Yorn. I guess they had nothing better to do with their time, money or whatever. Good luck, maybe this will be a cross over hit like Gwyneth Paltrow's lovely duet with Huey Lewis.
This song is amazing.. I went to the record store last night found it on a 45. Listened to only 30 seconds of it before taking it off and buying it. I think it has a great sound.
I love this song!!!
Scarlett is halfway between suck and billy holiday, and I couldn't be more pleased with the song. I think they only work as a duet, and they are both ordinary solo artists. They fact that two average singers can get together and make an enjoyable song speaks loudly. Good singers are a dime a dozen, Give me more dylan, more young, and more Scarlett crank flank it(accompanied by Yorn), and excuse me for comparing mortals to gods.
