Gwen Stefani's back on the road with No Doubt, but she squeezed in time for an Elle photo shoot with Zuma. Her boys have joined her on tour and she talked about Kingston's personality plus how life has changed since she started out with her band. Here's more:
- On Kingston: "It’s one thing when you have an infant, but when you have this two-or three-year-old going, ‘Mommy, what’s the deal?’ it’s harder. Kingston’s whole thing is, ‘I need, I need.’ He is insane right now. We’re just hoping for the best and that he’s not going to turn out to be a freak, but we’ll see."
- On No Doubt: "Everybody’s making it like there’s all this new tension, you know, like I stepped away from the band and now they’re jealous of me, and look, maybe there is a little bit of that."
- On how she's changed: "I wasn’t even married. Now I’m a wife and a mother of two. It’s a really different role. I always referred to No Doubt as a marriage, because that’s what it’s like to be together for so long and go through what we’ve been through. I can’t really have that relationship with them anymore. My priorities are always going to be my husband and my family now. That’s a huge, huge thing."

Wow, it sounds like Gwen is having ruff spot with the group.
1Being a working mom is hard job. The group should respect that.
She sounds arrogant and mean as hell. Never would of thought of her that way prior to this interview. What was up with "We’re just hoping for the best that he’s not going to turn out to be a freak"?
2I've always liked Gwen, but damn, she comes off immature as hell in this interview.... I mean, I think I know what she means, but she needs to word it one hell of a lot better!!
3Agree that this is not her most flattering interview.
4I honestly think this is one of those interviews where you'd have to be there and hear her tone to understand. I don't think she was using "freak" in as negative a way as it can be taken- just like the "blob" thing Angelina said. It's just some kind of expression, albeit not something I would say, but not meant to be dissing their children. You can basically see her and the way he kids are always clinging to her that she isn't a bad mother and probably not a mean person. It's not a good interview and she isn't very good at expressing herself intelligently...I love Gwen but she's a bit of an airhead when it comes to that area.
5Love the cover shot...=3
6ugh, I knew I couldn't tolerate this tranny and now I have the backup...she's a fugly freak with a gay husband and a rude toddler lmao
7you have to love how she looks at things. people get a bad rap sometimes when they branch off they get the talk about how they think they are better - but that's not what she did. she did her own thing in her own style but she's back and she seems to want to be with them for now.
8I just wish she was more specific about WHAT Kingston may be a freak about? That he's needy? Or that he wants everything he sees? Or he needs to try everything himself? What?
9LOL jaan
10LOL! People are taking her comments waay too seriously! My family are always joking around - calling each other outrageous things - bottom line its inappropriate but it's as funny as hell. But I've come to realise over the years that people (naturally) don't have the same sense of humour so of course, there will be those who take offense with what you say and those that will totally get it and just roll with it....
11Aw, I love Gwen. I mean, not that I know her, of course! But I like that she acknowledges that family comes first. So many people are willing to put fame, money, etc. before family these days that it's refreshing to at least hear she it striving for those priorities. And I think all kids at that age are "needy." However, growing up on tour might mean some interesting child development.
12Love her! Hot cover
13I think most parents secretly worry that their children might turn out to be nothing like them. We all know "freaks" that come from "good" families, so we worry that it could happen to us.
Talking about the group tension, though, I don't get that. She's just contributing to that tension by speaking to a magazine about it. If the other bands members weren't annoyed with her before, now they have a reason to be that has nothing to do with a shift in her priorities.
14The comment about the band being a little jealous of her...wow, chick, pull your head out, please. You're touring with these people!
15i like gwen but i don't think she has ever sounded intelligent in any of her articles & i don't expect her to. i'm not surprised that she comes off a little b*tchy in this.
16Ugh I used to love Gwen, but I'm liking her less and less lately. First of all, her voice is sounding terrible these days, based on what I've seen from the multiple TV appearances that No Doubt has done. Second, she acts like she hasn't matured that much since becoming a mom...she always said that she hoped that she would become less selfish but then she gets frustrated that her 3 year old son is needy? He's a toddler, of course he's like that! And it's not as if she is taking care of two kids on her own, she has multiple nannies with her, even when she is just going to the park or the store. Third, she says that the guys in the band are jealous of her. Conceited much?
Like I said before, I usually love her and her music but she is aggravating me lately.
17However, I have to say I don't think she meant in a bad way when she said, "We’re just hoping for the best and that [Kingston]’s not going to turn out to be a freak, but we’ll see." It sounds like she was joking to me
as if to say that she was hoping that he isn't adversely
affected by the unconventional lifestyle of his parents. Or that she hopes that he grows out of his "needy" phase.
18This woman fancies herself as God's gift and the first and only woman to juggle career, motherhood and marriage. Get over yourself Gwen!!!
19hot pics but not the best interview. i wonder what the full article say?
20I need to read the whole article before I really comment. I really can't judge from those excerpts. Can't wait to pick it up!
21not a fan of her or her rip-off products~~and she sounds annoying here-- i don't think
22*i need* is so awful for a tot to say.
