Lauren Conrad's LA Candy hit shelves yesterday, and she kicked off her book tour at the Barnes and Noble at the Grove in LA. She greeted the fans with a smile and posed with the first in her series of young adult novels. The new author also made time to stop by The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien to chat about some of the crazier experiences she's had with fans of The Hills, including one woman who threw her baby at LC for a photo. Lauren is headed off around the country for the next few weeks to promote her book, but that doesn't mean she's taking time off writing — in fact, she's almost done with her next book already.

11I live not far from the Grove. And as I was driving home last night, I saw this huge line coming out of the mall. It was outside the shopping center, down a whole city block, and this was a long one. There must have been 700 people, waiting, at least. I wondered, "Is there a movie opening tonight?" But that never happens on a Tuesday. Then I remembered it was LC's book signing.
I think she's more popular than Kobe in LA, even with the Lakers victory this week...
12Ugh. LC has a book publishing deal while thousands and thousands of MFAs wait tables hoping to get published. I guess I now know how real fashion designers feel when celebrities come out with their own lines.

15I read a few pages of her book online... it is so bad that I'm pretty sure she wrote it. It was really bad. Poorly written, poorly paced, no plot - normally I'm for anything that makes teens read but I literally think they would be better off not reading than thinking that LA Candy is literature.

17rotflol...seriously of course she's almost done with her next book all she had to do is change the names in her old scripts from The Hills and slap her name on it and call it hers.
Look congrats to her for spinning her reality tv into something else, but I hope she doesn't exspect people to take her seriously as a writer.
