Lauren Conrad was up early this morning to chat with the ladies of The View and promote LA Candy. When asked about Spencer's apology on The Hills, Lauren revealed that it was staged and she wasn't actually on the other end of the phone call. In the past she's said that the show's producers were pushing a Heidi reconciliation on her, and it's definitely not the first time we've heard about scenes being fake. On the other hand, it's still a little surprising to hear it from LC herself so tell us — was it wrong of Lauren to expose the reality show?

My opinion is that she's kind of been bitter about the whole thing. Every interview I see is about her getting mad at the producers, talking about how fake the show is and how she won't watch it now that she's not on it.
She wouldn't be anywhere without the Hills, so maybe she could be grateful for all the work they've put into the show and stop acting like she's above it. I think she wanted the series to end when she left and she's angry that they went on without her.
I doubt she gives the money she made from it back, so maybe she should shut up already.
1no - had it been 2-3 years ago when we all thought that it was a reality show - then maybe but we are all clear on the point that it's staged and that there's stuff going on that was concocted.
2lol, i love joy behar! i was thinking the exact same thing when LC was shaking their hands. too funny
3I glad she told the truth!!!!
4Wow I cannot believe anyone still believed it was real. How sad for the believers.
5The hills is so fake now..I think that's why Lauren left. I think it has always been a little fake of course but now it's REALLY REALLY fake..it's sad.
6I like LC.
7I don't see whats wrong with her saying the truth. I'm sure the book she wrote has a lot of scenarios inspired about how fake reality tv might be. & the hosts just kept asking questions about the hills and you could tell by her pause she didn't want to just make up a lie.
8anyone have an idea where i can get that dress? i've been looking for something exactly like it!
9Everyone knew it was fake anyway
10i think the reason she may have brought that up is because of the whole deal with spencer, to show that spencer is not genuine in his feelings, not necessarily to show that the hills was fake
11yeah we all know its fake but its never wise to bite the hand that feeds you.it shows that she cant be trusted and producers dont like that.unless this is another mtv orchistrated incident.hey mtv,get off the air!!
12good lord. did anyone think it was actually real?
13I was going to say the SAME THING, vinnie !
14i bet anything that the "forced reconciliations" had a big part in her leaving. who wants to be forced to spend MORE time w/ heidi and spencer?!?!?!? plus, everyone knows its a BS reality show already!
15I don't think it's wrong. It seems like she is just sick of the whole fake reality stuff and doesn't want to associate herself with that kind of thing anymore. Who knows, maybe she's just growing up?
16I also love how Joy called her out on the handshaking thing! Bless her heart. LC must've been nervous or really doesn't know basic etiquette.
I must admit I've been a fan since Laguna Beach. I think it's the responsibility of MTV, they shouldn't call it a reality show although the term reality show is an oxy moron now. Nothing is real anymore when cameras are involved but The Real World seemed more genuine to me. I stopped watching after the Colorado cast so I'm not sure how it's since turned out.
17Uh like we didn't know The Hills was fake.
18Um, is there any reality show out there that's "real?" People don't care if those shows are real or not. That's not why they watch them.
19she wouldn't say that if they'd still have her in ,, she's telling em them now after they fired her !
20A lot of people talk sh*t about their jobs. Just because they give you paychecks doesn't mean you can't complain ever.
21Anyone who watches the show, knows the majority of it is staged, and Spencer's personality- he would've never done that one his own. Even with the "acting" it was fake was ever. And I don't think Lauren would've accepted it... I don't think she's saying anything America doesn't already know.
22i think no, because actually we all already know how fake the hills is, so a confirmation wouldn't hurt
23Who cares? We all know that it's fake anyway.
24I still love LC and kinda don't blame her for being sour grapes. I give it two years before her tell-all book drops.
25Um maybe I'm missing something, but if she wasn't on the other end of the call with Spencer and didn't know about the apology beforehand, then what was she doing when they were filming her "half" of the conversation with Spencer?
26No, I don't think it was wrong of her. I don't think she made that point about the show itself, more that she wasn't gonna let it slide by that people think Spencer sucked it up and apologized to her.
27And anyway, it's not like none of us knew that most everything on the show was staged! No newsflash here.
I think she should be a little more thankful to the people who MADE HER famous - even if they angered her why doesn't she just take the high road?... does she think that her "clothing line" is the reason for her success? HA!
28gosh, i'm so sick of hearing about why she and heidi are no longer friends. geez, we get it. we heard it...like 2-3 years ago. and are still hearing it...NOW, and she is "done" with the show. duh, it was fake, but come on, without it, she wouldn't have had the opportunities she's had as a result of it. we know you are over it, lc, but don't bite the hand that feeds you. now, go continue to make a fortune off of the "reality" experience that you are so "over" by writing your little books. the whole hills and speidi thing has really gotten to me. really. is it obvious?
29you could tell she was hesitating at first. there was the longest silence, so she was thinking for a while if she should, but hey, she's out of the show, everyone knows it's fake, so she's just being honest.
30Anyone who has a right or wrong opinion about a stupid show like "The Hills" is a stupid person and it's wrong for them to be near electronics like computers unsupervised.
31I heat the Hills and the whole cast. Those girls need to read a real, serious book. They are so stupid that it goes on my nerves. Every time they have a conversation they say:'' yea, so, mmm, like, gosh''. Don't you know how to say anything else?
32wow. she's dumber than rocks. you can actually hear the little hamster running on the wheel in her head
33Everyone knows that show is fake. LC had no choice but to tell the truth after Spencer went and talked about how insincere his apology was in the first place. Well LC never received an apology and she didnt want to lie. The interviews should spent more time talking about her book and less about stupid speidi
34WHERE IS LAURENS DRESS FROM?!!!! I NEED TO KNOW
35Has anyone ever considered that she made the comment about not being on the other end of Spencer's call to keep the show in the headlines and keep the gossip mill churning until next season? Puhleeze, the producers and LC probably concocted it together, you don't think she'd really bite the hand that fed her for so long, do you??
36i think i found the dress!

I'm glad she exposed yet another lie. What the f*ck is the obsession with manufacturing stories?
38seriously, those type of shows are so lame and for the envious imo
39she is just trying to get more attention to have more copies of her book sold here.
40isn't this whole book promotion all about?
everyone in the Hills is lame anyway. keep starting dramas to make their 15 mins longer
Why would it be wrong of Lauren to tell the truth? The truth will always be set free, and Lauren did just that. She did it in a classy way and it's not like we all didn't know it was a fake reality show.
Personally, I'm glad she said how Spencer's "apology call" wasn't genuine. (Spencer being a liar and a scumbag?! Oh my gosh, what a total shocker! - *Complete sarcasm, obviously*)
And on a fashion side-note: her dress was very pretty and showed off her long, lean, tan legs. Her hair, falling down one shoulder in beautiful waves, radiated and gleamed perfectly.
She looked exquisite and she composed herself very well, being respectful to The View ladies and their questions and she was humble and down-to-earth with still enough glamour to keep you interested.
To sum it all up: Lauren's fabulous! God Bless her and all that she does in life. =D
41I don't think it was wrong of her...it would be stupid of her to lie about The Hills now that she no longer appears on it. I think she does appreciate that it is what made her famous, but I think there is probably a bit of bad blood between her and the producers, and she just no longer cares about protecting the reputation of The Hills - besides, it's not like anyone thought it was real anyways!
42We should never criticize anybody for telling the truth, especially in an industry built on so many lies. I think she's doing a public service by letting people know that "reality television" is completely fake.
43The whole show is staged, so does it matter if the call was real or not? Just get out of the spot light already!
44Seriously, do people actually believe these shows are real?
45it was a straight forward question, whether u think she is bitter or not, it was either she lied, told the truth or tried to get around it like some politician. i think she did the noble thing
46She wants to produce?Wow-people go to school for years and years to learn how to produce, write books and design clothes ,and then they spend even more years trying to get noticed, get internships and get published, and yet here is LC getting things without putting in the hard work.It makes me sick.
I'd be interested to know if she actually wrote the book herself, without any help.Somehow I don't imagine her sitting infront of her laptop for hours on end ,revising chapters. Puh-lease!
47it really doesnt matter at this point that she exposed anything bc everyone has been known it was fake. she did nothing wrong...so i dont see how this is even a question
48Ugh, Joy and Whoopi are immature and rude. So nice of them to be laughing and talking behind Lauren's back after Whoopi asks Lauren a question. They behave like they are in high school.
49I don't think anyone cares that it's not real; the show is still popular. The public has known a lot is staged for awhile now, so it's not surprising the apology was fake. I'm interested to see how the season goes without LC, but it won't be the same.
