Kate Moss and Jamie Hince got dressed up in London last night to toast Beth Ditto at the launch of her new plus-sized clothing line for the store Evans. Beth posed for photos with Philip Green, whose company Arcadia owns Evans, in addition to Topshop. Fresh off a quick trip to Paris, the night also apparently presented Kate with another opportunity to show off her singing skills, as she took the stage with Beth to belt out a karaoke rendition of "Major Tom."

This whole thing with Beth Ditto is so sad. The fashion industry designates one or two overweight women as It Girls to counter claims that it glorifies a super-thin body image. But in reality, it's just another unhealthy extreme. Obese does not equal "curvy, healthy, voluptuous." How about getting their heads out of their asses and actually using healthier-looking models on a daily basis in shows and advertising campaigns? Instead, they make Beth Ditto a "star" to prove they aren't obsessed with skinny bodies.
1I think she looks amazing (her legs too). I love the outfit aswell, and I also think the whole pulling back her hair thing works very well for her.
2Kate does look spectacular, I agree.
3i understand the frustration about how the industry typically picks just a few girls to be the mold for it all but at least beth is stepping out and making things possible for girls with her body type - and i'm thrilled that kate was there to support her.
4love beth's music...hate her style. i am a big girl and wouldn't dream of wearing half the things i've seen her wear and i'm a punk rocker at heart...

7I'm all for the plus size clothes industry, but they need to be tasteful. Her outfit looks like it's from the production of Alice in Wonderland. Heavy people don't have to dress outrageously to be fashionable.

10It's perfectly fine to be full-figured. But there is no need to look like a clown. In fact, there is no need to look like a clown for anyone. A bigger girl can be elegant, cute and gorgeous. This ain't it.
