well now...
118 months in jail=no drugs
so
i think it is good for him
Ralph fiennes is the kind of incredibly creepy guy who could be a closeted paedophile, every time I see his face i get the heeby jeebies.
2Chris Benoit apparently strangled his wife, killed his son the next day and hanged himself. I hope he rots in everlasting hell if that's true. It'sd alarming how the murder of mothers and babies by their lovers adn husbands is becoming more prevalent.
Tom Sizemore gives me the creeps....he's a weird, weird man.
That's awful what happend to the Benoit family....this world is crazy.
3I might offend some people but I give Germany mad kudos for standing its ground against Tom and his Scientology crap. He likes to shove his "religion" in people's faces how does it feel to get shoved right back.
4That is terrible about that wrestler. I don't watch it, but I was reading some news stories about it, and it's so sad.
5Anyone who equates 18 months in jail with NO acess or use of drugs is a bit naive. You can get drugs in jail as easy as you can outside. Sizemore seems like a rage machine, something in his eyes.
Sad to hear about Benoit's wife and son. Tragic.
6That wrestler lives in the same county as me. Tom S. is from the same city as me. Strange!!!
7I heard about Germany and Tom C yesterday. I thought it seemed odd. Why do they care what his religion is? Even if they don't think it's a real religion, what does it have to do with him filming on an air strip in their country?
I think it seems like Germany is still having issues with being openminded towards people and their choice of religion. After such a horrible genocide had happened in my country because of religious hatred, I would be a lot more friendly to other religions. But hey, that's just me. Apparently Germany doesnt care if they're viewed as hate mongers.
8There is another murder suicide every week in the news lately. It's really getting depressing.
9To nyaradzom2001 - I think it probably makes him feel like crap to be hated because of his religion. And I think that we should all be worried that Germany is still kicking people out of their country based on their religion. They disagree with Scientology and it doesnt seem like a big deal because the Scientologists are viewed as wackos. But they disagreed with the Jews too. Look what happened there.
10I don't think they are being hatemongers but Scientology is equally as aggressive attacking psychiatry and homosexuals. Why are they not open about their religion? If they want to be treated like other religions maybe it's time to open up it's doors and reveal it's secret's and not go out all guns blazig every time. And freaks like the GMD don't help it's cause they only serve to inder it as do the reporsts of the more money you donate the highr you are in the church oh and the cutting off all contact with your famil is soo not cool
11Canthelpwatching-You cannot compare the Jews or the holocaust to people who believe that an alien is going to save us and whose founder's life is mired in sotries of scandal, satanism, the occult and all other sorts of madness. Noone is locking them up or running them out of town or shutting down their businesses and why is it so important to have Germany in the film noone will know or even care if it was filmed at the war memorials.
12My heart goes out to the entire Benoit family, what a horrible tragedy, I grew up watching Chris Benoit and I just can't wrap my mind around this.
13I can compare Judaism and Scientology because they ARE both religions. One is just "newer" than the other. And if I expect and appreciate freedom to practice MY religion, then I have to try really hard to give that same freedom to others. No matter how nutty I think his religion is, I still would fight for his freedom to practice it. Even though I don't agree with any of its tenets.
And the Holocaust didnt start with rounding people up and gassing them. Mass genocide never starts that blatantly. It always starts in a way that seems logical. That's how it ends up escalating so quickly without people noticing.
Any by not allowing him to shoot his film there, they ARE shutting down his business. It is a very important film. Some of us are very sensitive about the Holocaust and this story in particular is a great story of bravery in the face of oppression and fear that isnt widely known. Sure it doesnt NEED to be filmed in Germany, but it would make the film all the more authentic and I appreciate that.
141. Don't know who is Tom Sizemore. A D-lister, perhaps?
2. My prayers go out to the families of the mother, son and wrestler, who have to deal with this unfortunate matter without knowing what really happened to have caused this.
3. As for Germany, I want to say good for them for telling Tom Cruise that he can't promote his cult-like religion in their country but I don't know, it's a bit awkward to comment on this situation because of what Germany has done to another religion in the past.
15I saw all the Tom Sizemore sextapes. He never got a hard-on because of all the drugs he took. That was too much. Sad.
16Canthelpwatching Scientology has always had a problem in Germany so why, why , why , why would Tom even need to do this there. he doesn't need to do this film, it could be done by someone else. When you are the poster child of something banned in a country don't expect to get any quarter from them and germany has a reputation for being hardline, so it shouldn't come as a surprise.he went looking for trouble and hey he got it. As far as I am concerened tom is welcome to practice whatever but Scientology like other things in the world is shrouded in secrecy like I said before. Secrecy in religion is not a good idea eg the Opus Dei in the Catholic church. It eventually comes back to bite you in the ass like now. Judaism did not have blantant persecution but Scientologists really go through nothing except ridicule by people for being an off-kilter religion. I have never heard of Scientologists being blamed for famines and plagues etc etc. And the rants that Tom has gone on see the Matt Lauer interview just solidify the image of a religion that is a little on the loopy side. I have no problem with Wicca, or voodoo or any other funky religions do your thing but Scientology creeps me out. I mean did Lord of the rings get filmed in middle earth no it was done on a set so why can't TOm do tha you might care about authenticity but when I pay $10 for a movie I want to be entertained I don't give a flying sh*t wher it is filmed as long as I get my money's worth and how many people do you think know about Stauffenberg in this day and age people are more concerned wit Paris hair colour than a man who live 60 odd years ago.
17LOL Yoonyah trust you top come here and make me laugh!!!
18YOONYAH that was too much for today. you had me laughing.
19Did you really watch all of his sextapes? what did you do to be punished so?
I dont know how to respond to you. I don't understand why it matters that Tom Cruise is crazy. They're shutting down a complete FILM because of one person's religion who is in the film. They don't object to the film, just Tom and his religion. Uh, okay. That's not xenophobia in its purest form.
The point of the film isn't to "entertain" you for "10 bucks." The point of a historical drama is to educate and inform. If that's not your thing, and you would rather see LOTR, then that's fine. Great film. But some of us were raised and educated to also appreciate different things.
20that wrestler story is really sad.
21Canthelpwatching maybe you should lobby the German government to change their minds but I feel that he should have known they would oppose it cos Germany is very vehement about Scientology and it's been a known fact for a very long time. And I don't know if you meant to be insulting about being raised and educated to appreciate finer things but nowhere before did i say that I would rather see LOTR I said that it was done on a set meaning why can't Valkyrie be done on a set authenticity really doesn't matter to the average movie goer who knows nothing about it or the sites or even that Berlin is the capital of Germany. I said I want to be entertained and I don't really care where it is filmed just as long as it is entertaining if I want to be informed I will watch the news or read a history novel and if I want to appreciate finer things i buy Vogue lol!!!!!
22There is a huge scientology centre in Berlin so why would they mind? I don't believe that story. Besides comparing Scientology to Judaism is a big no-no. Scientology is a cult, not religion.
23The reason tisane is that like you said the German government sees Scientlogy as a cult and will not allow it as a religion in Germany even after all the aggresive marketing campaigns. It's like a brand and not a religion.
24Tom Cruise has issues.
25is jeffrey dean morgan even on weeds? i know he was on one ep as her dead husband while they watched a home movie. what, is the new season full of flashbacks, or has he come back from the dead?
26while i find scientology to be an abhorrent and false "religion",people should be able to believe whatever they and still be able to do their job, no matter what country. tom cruise may be a wack job but he truly believes the crap that he spews. for a government to tell him his beliefs are wrong and he cannot work in their country until he believes in something else, is oppressive plain and simple. as far as filming in another country, it would a) be very costly to build a set to look like historic landmarks for WWII germany vs actually filming there and b) the only way you can get less authentic than filming a movie on germany in the us, is having tom cruise play the lead role, fake german accent and all.
27A law enforcement official close to the investigation tells The Associated Press that pro wrestler Chris Benoit strangled his wife and smothered his son before hanging himself in his weight room.
-Atlanta Journal Constitution
28Definitely sad what happened to the pro wrestler..really what is this world coming to?
Pro wrestler Chris Benoit killed his wife, Nancy, and asphyxiated his son, Daniel, before hanging himself in the weight room of the family's suburban Atlanta home, law enforcement said Tuesday. Authorities also said they found a number of drugs -- all believed to be legal -- including steroids. - CNN News..
:(
I'm sure I'm in the minority but who is Tom Sizemore? I've never heard of him...
As for Tom Cruise..ugh, I just don't want to hear of him..next!!!
29epicurean_Essy i agree tom dose have serious issues
30Tom Sizemore is a messed up dude, he needs jail and rehab ASAP!
The Chris Benoit murder/suicide story breaks my heart. I don't watch or follow wrestling at all but anytime someone murders their spouse and young child it's an absolute travesty.I heard the wife had previously taken out a restraining order against him and later had it withdrawn. What a sad situation.
31I heard about the Chris Benoit story last night.I'm not a fan of wrestling but that is really sad.I don'tunderstand how he could do that his family.
32I had the misfortune of having a spouse that was interested in Tom's vh1 reality show. I am so sad that he relapsed because he seemed to honestly want to get better, but he didn't seem to want to make the committment necessary to make a life change. I wanna say poor guy, but I'm not because even 18 months of jail time is not going to make his mind right =o[
33So sad.
34canthelpwatching, nobody is "shutting down a complete film" and nobody is "kicking people out of Germany because of their religion".
35The ministry of defence has said they won't give permission for their Berlin headquarters, the Bendlerblock, to be used for the film. That's it.
Let me quote an article about what a German politician (the cult expert for the CDU party), Antje Blumenthal, had to say about this:
"Blumenthal accused the organization of spreading views in the tradition of National Socialism - "and I find it, to say the least, odd that someone who represents this organization would be able to film at the site of a memorial to resistance against National Socialism of all places.""
So sad. He's a great actor.
Tom Sizemore: anti-drug.
36I think the Scientology stuff is so wrong. No-one makes restrictions when you're a Christian. I think people's choices of religion should be respected.
37krisua, Germany doesn't view Scientology as a religion, but as a money-making cult with totalitarian tendencies. Given the country's history with totalitarian organizations, this reaction is more than understandable. Try to see it from the German perspective: if someone had stopped the Nazis before they had gotten into power, history would have been very different. And yes, I'm comparing Scientology to National Socialism...
38After reading up on their policies ("Fair Game") and watching that BBC panorama programme "Scientology and Me" recently, I have lost all respect for them.
Chris, you should've killed yourself first. This is so sad.
39YEAH GERMANY!!!!!!! :woohooo:
40
i wonder if they would have agreed to it if Tom was playing Hitler?
