Kelly Clarkson hit up the NY Morning Show circuit performing on Good Morning America's Summer Concert Series and stopping by the Today Show yesterday. While the black Today Show dress is a definite improvement over that purple ropey top/crotch wings nonsense, her hair looks great in both! She is doing the rounds to promote My December and perform her first single, Never Again. While the song is no Since U Been Gone in terms of belt-out-ability, it's a pretty catchy number. Considering how much flack she's been getting about the new album (and the fact that she canceled her tour), I really hope it does well. I mean, how could you not love Clarkson?

She's got a little chunk chunk goin on. It's ok. I still like her.
I wish her all the best with her album, after all she's been through she deserves it!
I think she looks happy and healthy and I really hope she has some success with her album. Black dress is nice, the other outfit is a little too country inspired for me.
you can't NOT love Kelly Clarkson. You just can't. It's impossible. She's got an amazing talent and a great personality and a great look. what's not to love about her? and her new album, rocks!
and there is nothing wrong with "chunk chunk." a person can be beautiful at any weight
I love her. I actually think she looks great in both outfits. I love that she is so gorgeous and real.
I didn't say chunk chunk was bad love kimmers...I said I still like her!!!
I agree that a person can look beautiful at any weight, but for some reason she just looks kind of puffy faced and unhealthy like this. I don't know why.
I can't stand her.
She's a horrible dresser -- but I don't see what all the flack is about her album, at least "Never Again," which is a perfectly fine pop song. There's a lot of haterade going on around her. There's got to be more to it than any of the players are saying. She somehow went from sweetheart to troublemaker in a blink!
she is a cutie. little bit of weight and all.
I agree that she looks "Puffier" than usual in her face. She doesn't seem "Chunky" she just looks a little different around her eyes. She may just be exhausted. I think she is truly talented and a natural beauty.
The problem isn't that she's chunky, because she's really average. It's that she dresses in ways that aren't flattering. The black dress is great. The boots with it make her look all one thickness. The other outfit is awful. It points down at her crotch and makes her belly look poofed out.
You can't dress the way Britney did back in the day if you don't have the body for it. She could wear things that are SO much more flattering!
i like her usually.
she looks much skinnier in her videos huh. not tat she is very fat in these pics but there is certainly a difference.
kelly clarkson, you had me at "since you've been gone" and i will love you forever after!
Maybe you're right kickinthecherries...her choice of dress makes her look bigger. I think, personally, it's refreshing to see someone with meat on their bones.
I really support her. I think it takes a strong person to take the risks she has, and I admire her as an artist for taking chances. I am so tired of everything sounding the same!!!!
Kudos to Kelly for following her vision, instead of just letting the producers do all the work!
I like that Kelly isn't skeleton skinny like the rest of Hollywood's women are. I love Kelly and her music and I think her song Never Again is really good.
I love her, and after the tough time with all the flak from her album and no tour, I think it's ok that she may or may not have put on a few lbs. I'd rather she put on than take off and get scary skinny!
i totally love kelly clarkson; i am glad that she held her own against clive davis; i bought the new cd yesterday and i love it; she rocks!!!
My roomate likes Never Again, so I listened to a few other songs. They're actually not that bad, but they're missing a hook and a catchyness to them. They just don't stay in your head. I think that's the problem.
I love her and I hope everything goes well with her new album
Everyone loves Kelly! But yikes that second outfit is not flattering...
yay, kelly kelly! i bought your CD and love it!
go on Kelly! she's really stuck to her gut to get this album out. i wish her the best..i think kelly & carrie underwood are the only AI winners that really are good
she's gained a lot of weight.. wonder what that's about?
I'm proud of her for sticking with something she's obviously worked hard to make. That takes some gumption, especially when the people who hold all the power are the ones trying to fight her.
Her weight just seems to fluctuate a lot. She could be PMSing or just not eating right due to all the promoting she's been doing. I'm sure it takes a toll on her.
kickingthecherries - you are totally right on. She does look a little chunkier (but as a chunky girl myself...I LOVE IT) though I agree that she needs to make some better choices with her clothing. the boots with the dress add weight - some kitten heels would have made her look much more slender.
Oh its easy to not like Kelly Clarkson, I have no trouble with it. She's annoying and although has a beautiful singing voice, can not write worth crap. Stick to the pre-written AI tunes honey, your own stuff is less than.
I don't even think her voice is all that great. Maybe it was on AI, I don't know, I didn't watch it the first season. But what's on the radio falls into the Mariah Carey trap of screaming instead of singing when you supposedly hit the high notes.
Good conversation here, ladies!
I do think Kelly has gained some weight, but like some of you were saying, I think it's good to see someone so famous not rail-thin. I think besides not always wearing clothes that flatter her body (good point, kickinthecherries), she also has a petite body frame, and so when petite people carry weight, it's a lot more noticeable than say, someone who's much taller and the weight falls everywhere.
I guess everyone's body reacts differently and looks differently with weight gain, but I have a petite frame... so when I've gained weight in the past, I put it on like Kelly has -- in my face, arms, and tummy.
But anyways... she does have an AMAZING voice, I think it's great that she took a risk to write her own songs, and I wish her the best!
OMG, I can't believe you said "crotch wings"!
I listened to her album, I think its awful. She should have listened to Clive and redo the whole thing.
It sucks but I wonder if her weight has to do with her decline in popularity. I doubt it's because she wrote her own songs. Well, everyone has their time I suppose. I even doubt if Britney could ever come back.
talented or not, weight up or down, whatever it is, there's no excuse for wearing that hideous, let me repeat, HIDEOUS 'crotch wings' pants! (*crotch wings made me laugh*) funny funny
wear more flattering clothes that's what she needs!!
It's good that she's sticking to the new abulm, she has a great voice...
even though i know it's not totally healthy, i like the fact that her weight flucuates...because it makes her just like every other normal american woman.
Her voice far out-weighs her chunk, I like that she's so real!
Oh yes. So healthy. Talk about a BULIMIC PERSON'S weight gain while they're under a great deal of stress. There are certain things that should be respected. This is one of them. I assure you that EVERY woman with a history of eating disorders is aware of their weight gain and many are an odd look or comment to trigger them.
yeah, that purple thing is gross. she's too pretty to be wearing such hideous outfits.
P.S.: Same goes for Katherine McPhee. Weight gain or loss. It doesn't matter. I've dealt with eating disorders. Someone will undoubtedly say something to her, she'll start exercise purging (working out for 6, 7 hours after eating too much), she'll look thin and people will pat her on the back for looking thinner. Perpetuate the cycle people!
i dont own anything by her, but i do think she has an AMAZING voice! and i sing along whenever i hear her on the radio
I have the CD in front of me. It's not bad. It's not phenomental, but it's listenable.
I wouldn't buy this album but I'd bop along to it though. TRIPLE KUDOS to writing her OWN MUSIC! I am sick to death of the popstars trying to say that "their album represnts where they were in their life at that time" when it was all written by someone else and the music was offered to 10 other people either brfore or after they saw it.
Her weight goes up and down more than a roller coaster...as does her career. I like her though. She's still my favorite Idol winner yet.
Gross. Those outfits are horrible on her. I dont understand who is styling these girls?!? Can they not find stylists who know how to work with body shapes that are fuller than Gwenyth Paltrow? Sheesh. What a bad look for her. I don't care for her makeup much either.
I do love that she's all spunky and standing up for herself now!
I just wish she would stand up in something more attractive.
Oh good gawd throw those boots out immediately!!!
Well, I think you look fine Kelly! I've loved you since "Behind These Hazel Eyes," keep on working your magic!
Yes, she doesn't have the best taste and doesn't dress to flatter her figure BUT I could care less. I love her for just being Kelly and her voice and the songs...the whole package that she brings, really.
Personally, I love the new album. The ballads are so much better than those on the previous albums and I commend her for breaking out and trying something new. If she churned out the same pop music over and over again and gave us another Since U Been Gone, you all would complain about that, as well. Change is a good thing, especially when it comes to music. She's growing up and evolving. Since when is that a BAD thing?
