The stars of Harry Potter have definitely grown up a lot since the first film in 2001. Daniel, Rupert and Emma (aka Harry, Ron and Hermione) are now teenagers and getting ready for the premiere of the fifth movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. While these three have hit the jackpot as far as child stars go, being a famous teenager also comes with some disadvantages. As much as Daniel loves playing Harry, he admitted that it's hard growing up in the limelight, saying,
"The only things that can be troublesome -- there's a lesser degree of spontaneity in my life ... than there would be in other teenagers. If someone says, 'Do you want to come to this particular club?' it could be hard, because you couldn't just go. You'd have to find out what the place was like first."
Being a child star seems like a lot of pressure, but these three look like they've grown into their fame nicely. We can't wait to see their acting skills when the movie comes out on July 11th!

I got the last book finished and reading it that same night. They are sooooo good. I don't want the series to end

JustMe21, I think the first two movies were pretty terrible thanks to Christopher Columbus' direction. He focused on the "magic" more than the stories or characters. Once a new director came on, the performances were infinitely better, and the story gets a lot darker...which I like.
20you gotta read the books first. the books are amazing, then you watch the movie just to see how the book comes to life. i can't wait for the movie/book next month either. hermione is looking pretty good in this pic.
21juju: i agree w/you. the 3rd and 4th movies are darker and more "adult." i can't wait for occlumency in the new movie.
22I love the books, and I wish that the movies did them justice...but they would be 6 hours long if they included everything! There is a lot that hints at racism/terrorism in the book, and that isn't explored so much in the movies.

25jmast, I had the same experience! I thought there was so much hype about them, and didn't read them for the longest time because I thought the whole magic thing was pretty cheesy. A friend pretty much twisted my arm. Then I read the book, and saw that there is so much more to them!
Dealing with the imperfections of dead people, who are many times idolized in our society is one of the harsh truths I didn't expect to find in Harry books!

28i've been a harry potter nerd since day one & since i found out harry, j.k. rowling and i all have the same birthday july 31! can't wait till the movie comes out!! i'll be so sad cuz its the last book.
29I always forget how tiny they were in the first one. It makes it difficult to think of anyone being hot at this point, although I don't think Daniel achieved it like everyone thought he would.
I loved the first two movies and the first three or four books. Now I think the books are too big for their britches and there's WAY too much to fit into a movie and make it still good.
Of course, I'll still see them all. But I'm very ready for the last book to come out and conclude the story.

39i think they grew up to be some of best young actors today, but their real challenge is how well they will removed theirselves from their Harry Potter characters and begin a new chapter as actors.
40Daniel did suck in the first movie...but he was a little kid. He has worked really hard, and did a lot of "extra credit" with the director that directed Y Tu Mama Tambien (had meetings, watched movies he suggested, etc.). I think you can tell he has improved a lot and has worked really hard. He got good reviews for Equis.

44juju, I'm with you. Alfonso Cuarón and Newell did a much job directing than Chris Columbus to me. I'm excited to what David Yates did with the fifth movie.
