David Beckham stepped out of his hotel in New Jersey this morning after playing with the Galaxy last night. David's back in the States for now, but not all of the fans have greeted him with open arms. He was booed when he stepped onto the field in New Jersey, but the team still went on to win the game. A lot of Galaxy supporters feel snubbed after David's long stint with AC Milan, especially since he was so open about trying to stay overseas. So we want to know — does Beckham's soccer drama change your view of him?

I think he's doing whats right for his career. He wants to be fit for the National Team and the Italian league is a more challenging place to be. MLS is starting to step up its game, but the European leagues are still in a higher class. I think he made the move to LA too early, and didn't realize how much he had left in the tank.
1I agree demarco11. Moreover, Beck has never been the same since he moved from Manchester United; he thought he would play there his whole life.
Come back here in Europe, we miss you
2agree with you, he just wanted to play in one big of Europe again, that all.
3I want to see him in the Champions League again!!
As a full fledge football fan and follower of the premier and champions league I feel he just missed football in Europe. It is an entirely different experience. He did good for football in the U.S. given it raised the MLS profile among the average sports fan. But if you have attended just one premier league match the experience is vastly different,,, the passion...the skill and loyalty of fans and players alike dont compare. He would do well going back to England/Europe...i hope someone the opportunity materializes soon.
4If only Sir Ferguson made a call to David, begging him to come back!!
5Totally agree with bronzebeauty7
6Not disrespect to American football/soccer, but David plays for England and right now we are playing qualification matchs for the World Cup next year, so he needs to play properly and adapt to the pace and power of Europeaan football, like AC Milan. And he only went on loan, it's not like he left by his own choice.
7He thought he would be big in USA but he became a big flop. He can not handle that.He is not commited to the team. The only thing he wants is what give him more fame and money. Galaxy fans don't care much about him. He can go back to the UK and never comeback.
8The mls/Galaxy fans who are upset are justified.
9But as an objective observer there's no way that he was going to come back after the original loan term when his place in the England team depends on him playing in Europe.
Ok, I just want to say...BECKS...IF YOU ARE READING THIS...I totally love you. Think you are totally hot. BUT I must ask...what's up with the scowl in every single picture you take. Is it your signature scowl? It looks like you smell something funny...did Vicki fart or something?
10if he didn't want to commit to the team, then he shouldn't have taken the money. it seems pretty sh*tty to take the money and then be a sh*tty captain and blatantly say you don't want to be on their team anymore
11pretty greasy
demarco11 AND xosofiaxo and absolulty right!!!
12Its also sh*tty to have your team mate talk crap about you right before you come back to the team too! Nice incentive to stay... why is Donovan writing a book anyways?
13no - you can't fault the guy for wanting to play as much as he can. just because other players don't do that or aren't given the opportunity to do it doesn't mean that he should be scorned. i feel like he knows that he's only got a few more years to play and that he wants to play with the best teams that he can. there's NOTHING wrong with that.
14Hate to say this... But he wants to play REAL soccer & Americans just can't do it. The Europeans do it best! If I had the sports channel or bothered to watch the news solely for their sports' segments, I'd be happy for anything re: my fave team: Manchester United!
15I'm sorry...what was the question? I was too busy staring at this gorgeous man.
16any soccer player knows that has a big career move you have to play in Europe, the level of the game out there is way high than in the U.S.so he has to do what's best for his career, and for him that means playing for a big team like AC Milan
17donovan was spurned by beckham. beckham signed on and took the captainship from him, but turned out to be very helpful on the field. but then it all crumbled when he up and left his team.
and it's not that americans CAN'T play soccer, it's just that it's not the phenomenon that it is everywhere else. american soccer players make a pittance, until they gain some fans and interest, there won't be any soccer stars.
18the americans beat spain and played very well against brazil in the world cup finals.
let's chalk it up to the american leagues not being able to afford the talent
the north americans couldn't play soccer coz it was not a traditionnal game in the USA. But things are starting to change and they became good. So i expect them to surprise us in the future
19Agreed, the American leagues are not up to par but the national team did play quite well in the Confederations Cup (can't wait for the World Cup next summer) against the top teams. Something I'm enjoying about MLS is the older soccer vets of Europe are coming over and we kinda have Becks to thank for that. Freddie Ljungberg up in Seattle? Yes please! I think it will definitely help develop the league.
20it doesn't change my view of him at all. i don't blame him for wanting to stay out there, the galaxy sucks!!
21I don't see why he came to the US in the first place. He should have stayed in Europe, where people actually care about soccer and where he can do the best for his career. It is a little messed up that he got all that money and then can just go back to his other team, but that's the way it goes. Too bad for the Galaxy.
22I'm sorry, but if you're being paid the astronomical sum that Beckham's contract with the Galaxy calls for, you suck it up and stay.
If he had doubts about LA, then he should have stayed in Europe. Since he didn't, gorgeous or not, he should stop whining.
23#14 He should think about that before he signed for Galaxy.
24He signed for the team thinking he will be big in US but that didn't happen so now he wants to go back to Europe. Lame becks.
25I don't mean americans cant play football, you did it really good in the Confederations Cup,and you deserved win against Brazil, but most of the players of the american team play in european teams, which shows that american league is not good enough for them either. It's not that Beckham is not good in US it's just that he cant be that big in a average league.
26For David to be able to play with the England squad, he have to keep his fitness at it best. The MLS season was off, the only chance for him to join England is to keep playing and he did the right decision. When you look at the most watched sports in US which are football and basketball, it's rare that you find American players are playing abroad in those games because they're at their best in the state. But when you look at soccer it's totally different, maybe it's that famous in the Us but it's the most famous sports worldwide and every league is tough and challenging. As well as when we see it at the national level, we don't see a world cup for American football o basketball. And even the cup that the American dream participate in it it's clear from the beginning that they will win. but when you talk about soccer world or europe cup, one single second and one single mistake can allow a team to win or lose. So I totally support Beckham decision, I think he did it to represent his England team and it is right. If anyone here was great at a sport with a professional level, won't his/her goal to represent his/her team in a national level?
27i saw him last night at the hotel he was staying in- super hot!
28He needs to get his sexy ass back to Europe and carry England into the World Cup.
29he's doing whats best for him and his country. he sure wants to win a major title for his country before he retire.
30and for the booing, it will get over. i remember he was boo-ed so much playing for man utd, after the world cup (98?) when england lost against argentina and the media made him the scape goat
After everything he went through in 2006-2007 he was sure his carear is pretty much finished and than out of no choice he signed with LA but suddenly evrything changeg and now he has a chance of his life to win trophy with England. He is just a footballer who try to give his carear the last go.
31I know he's a good-looking man but this is the first and the only time so far that I've found him attractive and refreshing and looking his age. For other times? He was just dressing up too much. Too much for a guy, I guess!
))
32Let's face it if Beckham wants to be considered to represent England at next year's world cup, he has to play at top level. Unfortunately the MLS is more of a minor league. The best players in the world play in Europe. He has to play in Europe to be in top form. You gotta do what you gotta do.
I hope MLS becomes as competitive as Europe's leagues one day, but they have a long long long way to go.
33I'm American and even I say 'what the hell does America know about soccer? besides little league through college. David Beckham is from Europe and has always played in Europe. Personally, I don't know why the hell he ever signed a contract to play for silly ass LA. Short of kidnapping his family, I don't get that at all.
34I've never been a fan of his and never will be. That also goes with the rest of his family members too.
35LA Galaxy sucks... he needs to play with real soccer teams.. she should have stayed with Real Madrid..
36If he's so awesome and the game comes so easy for him, why doesn't the galaxy win every game and every championship?
