Fergie was looking very chic while shopping in Paris yesterday. We're loving her little metallic dress, but the shoes are a bit aggressive for us. Speaking of shoes, Fergie just signed a $4 million contract to sing about Candie's. Her next album will incorporate the shoes into some of her songs in a way that apparently won't be totally obvious to the listener. It's one thing to pose in their ads but another to incorporate her sponsor in her songs. Sounds a bit like selling out to me.
More of Fergie out and about in Paris, so just read more
tacky
1argh i hate her shoes
2well it is not as if any of her songs r meaningful or anythin, dey're all commercial pop songs so i guess it doesn't make a difference. It's all abt the money!
3Are you kidding me? Entertainers have been doing this for years! Have you seen music videos, lately? They regularly endorse cars, iPods, alcoholic beverages, etc. Rappers have included products in their lyrics for some time as well (Prada, Gucci, etc.). I don't know why people are all over Fergie for doing the same thing.
I don't even care for Fergie--at all--but the outrage over her "selling out" is ridiculous.
4for 4 mil, i'd "sell out" too.
5That is completely rediculous. I just really do not care for her at all. Does anyone remeber when she was in the pop group "Wild Orchid" and they hosted a karaoke show on like ABC Family or something? They were sooo lame. Maybe I'm lame for remembering that...lol.
6i agree it's all abut the money
7i think the rock is weighing down her hand in the second pic......or she just likes walkin like a duck............evry1 to their own lmao
8I like her outfit, but the shoes are too tightened, I think! Her feet are swollen.
9The shoes are extreme, but I guess if you're so short you might need such killer heels. The selling out thing... well I might sing about shoes for all that dough... besides shoes are a passion why not sing about them?
10I agree with a ton of artists already doing this. I have heard about Blackberry's, Sidekicks, Gucci, Prada, Burberry, Crystal, Manolo Blaniks, lip glosses, Bentley's, Porche's, and everything else under the sun. I don't think it's that big of a deal.
11Those shoes look so uncomfortable!
12I actually like Candies.
13How tacky
14She's selling out like so many others...
15She isn't selling out. Jeez Brad, George, Madonna, Missy Eliott etc have been doing the same thing, I don't hear them get criticised for advertising items.what makes selling some phone or vodka better than peddling candy? Anyway her shoes are fug and why in the world does hse always look like a tranny on acid, she's pretty but she brings a whole ghettofab look that's played out. She needs to be more sophisticated and the hideous nails and nail art have got to go.
16Does anyone know who makes her dress and where I can find it? Love it!
17Yeah, it's not selling out, and all artist do it. Even one's who are considered "deep". I love Cat Power, but honestly, though she's considered indie and not at all mainstream, she lends her music to a ton of commercials.
I think it's just part of the biz.
Whoever said rappers endorse products all the time in their music too is dead on.
18I like Candies.
And I like Fergie! Go on girl!
19I like Fergie too! But I don't like her shoes. Not really comfterble shoes for shopping...
20OMG everyone - this dress is from H&M! I bought it there this weekend. Absolutely positive. It costs $49.99. Question is - WHY is Fergie wearing H&M????
21Janeiro, I completely agree with you! Heard any Beyonce songs recently? They're basically just a string of brand names... and you can bet she isn't mentioning them for free!!
22i kinda like the shoes.. they are cute!
23Yes it is selling out. The difference between her and rappers who drop names like 'Gucci' n 'Prada' etc is that they are NOT getting paid to say the company's name it just happens to go with the lyrics they are spitting. Fergie on the other hand IS getting paid to make more sh*tty music about candies (who no one that I know even realizes still exists, hello 1989 much??)which is VERY different then just saying 'Givenchy' in your song. The bottom line is that Fergie is not really all that talented so she has to come up with something to keep her paid cuz eventually people will realize that she is not talented and that her music is garbage. As an old skool Black Eyed Pea's fan it disgusts me that a band who was once so strong and set in their 'anti-commercial' a band that made truly good music has come to this. UGH. Everyone wants a piece of the American Dream when will they realize its all smoke and mirrors????
24There's always one thing off in her outfits; one thing!!
25The difference between celebs endorsing products and singing about them is HUGE, music is an expression of life and feeling and emotion (well it should be) so the selling of products should be totally seperate, if you are going to pimp a product at least stay true to your craft. Thats all I ask and I am in the music biz so I know how it is.
26That dress is from H&M...MUST HAVE NOW!
274 million!!!!
28I can only dream!
That's a cute outfit though!!!
i love ferg. she's performing next week at the vickie's secret pj party here in chicago. are any of you going!? dj am is spinning too. it'll be fun!
29I have a sneaking suspicion that even though you think that they are just 'mentioning' those names in their songs, they are getting paid just the same. I will never believe any different.
30I'm pretty sure in order to sell out you need some sort of musical credibility to begin with. She's just a typical overproduced money generating pop act, so I'm not really surprised by this or that this is the direction music is heading in. I can't even really blame her she probably has about as much say on the musical direction of her career as I do.
31Her dress is from H&M, it's $40 I think.
32Glad to hear it, gives me yet another reason not to listen to her music.
33Hip hop has been doing it forever... They mention Bentley's and escalades an all that... Its nuthin new..
341. I've held my tongue long enough. Fergie is awful.
352. Candie's? Really?
3. Cute H&M dress though
Is that a ring she's wearing or a manhole cover? She's fugly.
36thanks and reegana and southernbelle for the dress info. hopefully i can sneak out during my lunch break and snag one.
37I've actually heard one of the new songs. It goes something like this:
♪C-A-N-D-I-E-E-S♪
She spelled it incorectly, but I think that's so it won't be obvious to the listener that it's an endorsement.
38she's hideous.
39There's a HUGE difference between a platinum pop artist accepting money to incorporate a product into the lyrics of her song and an independent artist allowing her music to be used for commercials...music that was created with integrity and no thoughts of commercial products in mind. Are indie artists not supposed to profit off of their work? Commercials can be one of the best ways for an indie artist like that to get their songs heard...and then they can make a little money off of it. Cat Power certainly isn't making $4 million for her version of a song she didn't even write to appear in a jewelry commercial.
40This somewhat freaks me out, can anyone say Big Brother?
41Tacky, girl. Just...tacky.
42Hello, when has she not sold out. She was an addition to the vastly genre switching Black Eyed Peas. Been sold out!!!
43when i wear my mary jane shoes ( 8 )
44love fergie xD
omg, love the dress! not a big fan of hrs though
45I love Fergie! I don't think it's a sell out at all to earn an extra 4 mil for endorsing a product. That's what they all do!
46When will she go away!?! Her songs are HORRIBLE - in my opinion anyway. SHe has a couple that are alright, but I seriously do not think she's worth all the hype.
47Her shoes in this photo are awful. They look so painful. I don't listen to Fergie so I'll have no problem not hearing her talk about her candies. Yay! I agree with Tiabia. Has anyone heard pre-Fergie black eyed peas?
48She still looks like a tranny!
49OMG Jaime & tiabia, you are SO right.
AND LOL MexicanButtafly...so true!!
