One of our favorite hottie activist/actors, George Clooney told reporters yesterday that "you don't want me in politics." Mr. Clooney was speaking at an event where Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed legislation aimed at helping stop genocidal violence in the Darfur region of Sudan. Even though the sexy man knows he'd get a large amount of female votes, apparently he is not interested in running for office. Here's more:

The actor-director skillfully deflected a barrage of questions from reporters about a potential Clooney candidacy, after appearing at an event where Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed legislation aimed at helping stop genocidal violence in the Darfur region of Sudan.
Told that fans are clamoring for the "Syriana" star to run for office, he said with a subtle head shake, "Believe me, you don't want me in politics."
When asked what he thought about people wearing T-shirts urging Clooney to seek the presidency in 2008, he added, "I think they're probably kidding."
Asked again if he would try to get his name on a ballot, Clooney said, "That's a bad idea."
We may think otherwise George. However, as much as we like to see him involved in helping others, we must be selfish and say we'd much rather see him make more movies! For more pics of Clooney at the event, along with fellow activist and Ocean's castmate, Don Cheadle, read more

He is not aging as well as I thought!
1i'd vote for him. ^_^
2i would totally vote for him!!!
3I would vote for him.
4He needs to shave first.
5Hell yeah! Clooney's no BS policy would be sooooooo refreshing! I think Ben Affleck would do great as well!
Believe in Magic!
6Whoa president for what? Cos he's campaigning for Darfur? Then Angelina might as well be made first lady of the US and Bono and Bill and Melinda Gates heads of the UN.
7I would not vote for him. Actors do not live in the same world we do. He is good looking and is doing a great thing for Darfur but...there is more to politics than just picking a few things to have a cause for. JMO..please don't beat me!! LOL
8I would vote for him.. he definitly seems to understand some important issues.. actually at this point I would vote for anyone.. anything is better than George.. a trained monkey would be better.
9Oh no...he has got to lose the George Michael fuzz
10I'd vote for him and be his intern.
11I wouldn't vote for him unless he was running against like, Pat Buchanon or Hilary Clinton. They frighten me. George is a bit too far to the left for me- I'd rather somebody who was parked firmly in the middle of the road would run. *cough* yeah right *cough*
12Politics is totally different from acting it involves a harshdose of reality which most stars are missing in their lives. Can you imagine George leading America in a war, hmmm come to think of it he shares the same name as good ole Dubya and two bungling george's running America are enough .
13i love him but i would never endorse him running for president, oh suri said it best, actors just dont live in the same world we do. and color, how can you put hilary and pat buchanan in the same sentence, one is completely far right and the other is left of the middle.
14I wouldn't vote him. Actually politics is not acting.
15does anyone remember while on the topic of dubya the" there's an old saying in tennessee- i know it's in texas, probably in tennessee-that says fool me once, shame on...shame on you. fool me....well you can't get fooled again."
16It makes me laugh every time I think of it.
hehe, america votes for actors all the time. it wouldn't suprize me if he ran...and if he won.
17Funny though Bluejeanie.. the actors that win are mostly Republicans!!!
18do you know how embarrassed i am that "the terminator" is our governor?
19But he is doing good flutterpie no? Better than Gray Davis. He screwed us with our electric bill when we lived there!!
20ohsuri, not always. i'm from minnesota where we voted in a independent actor/wrestler
21clooney's got charisma and knows how to work a camera and crowd. i bet he'd be good at politics.
22I know Bluejeanie.. I was just saying there were more R than D actors in the senate and held, or hold office. I just want someone to be honest and keep us safe. This is such a touchy subject I don't want anyone to get annoyed. I totally respect both sides when they have valid arguments. The name calling and baby stuff should be left in Preschool. IMO.. I am registered Independent because I don't want any label.. and I want to feel I can vote which ever side has the closet views to myself.
23yah, come to think of it i can think of more red than blue actors in politics. hehe, what color is independent? purpley?
24great actor,i luved Syriana

'I wanna know God's thoughts,the rest r details..'
I would say white!! LOL.
26oh yeah i'd vote for him too,,he seems smart and he doesnt look like an animal,,lol
27that just reminds me how far away 2008 is
28Just what the States needs, another actor for president! lol I really hope females would not just vote for George because he is cute. That would be really disappointing.
29flutterpie, Hilary scares me to death and so does Pat Buchanon. I put them in the same sentence because those are the two people I would never in a million years vote for. I'd totally vote for Clooney over either of them, even if I don't agree with some of his politics. Although if I had to choose between Hilary and Condoleeza I'd probably just shoot myself and be done with it.
30To politically for me guys....We shall see in 2008!! I guess the US will decide if we stay R or go D. Nothing we can do until than!
31I think acting and being president have a lot in commen. Ronald Reagan could read the script very well, so well he got two terms.
32True Clinton was also good at reading a script.
33Our nation NEEDS a president like George!!! Clooney for president!!!
34narz.. almost as funny as " I know its hard for you to put food on you family" or " millions of gynocolgist are unable to perform their love on women" or "Is our children learning?" please please please make him just retire to the estate.. I mean ranch and hand the reigns over to someone who has more than two working brain cells that haven't tweaked by drug use.
35I love that he is giving Darfur the exposure that it needs. It is crazy what is going on over there.

37i totally think the president is there to look good and be charismatic, read the script, tell jokes, play the sax, there's people behind him (or her!) doing all the real stuff and telling the prez what's going on.
38Yeah ohsuri he was, but he was good on his feet too, remember those Town Hall meetings. He was at least intelligent. He was a Rhode scholar so he had some brains for sure(he should've used his big head more often). Dubya well, lol idk.
39Uh, Ronald Reagan was an actor...
40Yeah that's what I meant Peep...?
41He would be the hottest president around
42Right, gracey! I don't think that actually was addressed since ohsuri said that Clinton could read the script also. Bill Clinton was NOT an actor. (Those aren't political statements, I mean actor as in actual Hollywood actor.)
43Well...he would be the hottest president EVER and is smarter and more compassionate than the current dude in office.
44No doubt he would be the hottest Prez ever and maybe Jon Stewart could be his VP and Angelina Secretary of State and we wouldn't need a Secretary of Defense because wars are just yukky - WTF? Do people really go to gossip sites to discuss politics? Doesn't seem smart IMO. Kind of like talking religion with the in-laws. Can't we all just drool over his Deliciousness?
45oh ok Peep wasn't sure there. lol
So what do you think about Canada's current PM? LMAO. its ok I'm kidding.
46We haven't had a good looking president since JFK.
47JFK was good looking?
48I wasn't alive when JFK was president but my mom said he was so good looking. I know his son, John, was hot.
49I'm not big on the whole actors for President idea, but Jon Stewart would get my vote before George, no offence to George.
