Mischa Barton had her hands full yesterday following an afternoon of shopping in NYC. She fiddled with her Blackberry and smoked before hopping into a cab with her big black purse and a tote from the boutique Scoop. Mischa has been making plenty of time for retail therapy and exercise during her time in NYC when she isn't hard at work on the set of The Beautiful Life. Her costars must have also logged hours at the gym to shape up for their racy promo photos, though Mischa apparently didn't take part in the shoot because of a schedule conflict.

She better be on her best behavior for this show, because if she screws this up, I can't see anyone else giving her a chance ever again.
1She is a smoker, but making time for exercise....seriously, what's the point? Smoking is one of the worst things you can do to your body...does anyone with half a brain really think exercise will reverse the damage? If so, I have some oceanfront property in Arizona to sell you.
2I smoke 14 cigarettes a day and exercise every single day. Everybody says I look 5 years younger:p

4Smoking is one of those things that catches up to you. She just looks so unhealthy doing it.
5jazzytummy - oh get over yourself. dont put down others for stuff that doesnt affect you in anyway. smoking is an ADDICTION, much harder to give up then going to the gym.
6i don't understand why she dresses like this if she's so insecure about her body, and her legs in particular. she needs a stylist or a good friend to explain to her how to wear clothes that flatter her.
7@7- Who the hell said shes insecure? Its everyone else thats so obsessed with her body. She herself has said she loves her body and has accepted it but everyone talking about it is making it hard for her.
My god even those with the most confidence can be broken down by everyone picking apart their body.

9At the rate she's going this girl is going to die from one of the following: lung cancer, liver disease or alcohol poisoning, or a drug overdose.
She's already been sectioned so you know she has suicidal tendencies.
It's amazing that she has fans left who remain in denial about the extent of her problems and who up to a few weeks ago were still insisting that she landed in the hospital because she was having problems with her wisdom teeth. The same ones who read her past interviews and believe her when she insisted she does Pilates regularly and keeps a healthy lifestyle.

11i would never have known this was her. she looks sort of random. but she looks clean and sober. i read that she has a really poor self image. hollywood is not the place for that. seems like she would have the money to take off and relax and get on with her life. does anyone in hollywood ever say "i have enough money now. i'd like my life back"? (other than amy irving). seems like a difficult, and un-peaceful way to live.
12She didn't take part in the photoshoot because of a "scheduling conflict". Well Mischa hasn't appeared at a single CW Upfront and other network events supposedly because of "scheduling conflicts" as well. And yet her costars have managed to appear in them. Maybe they're better when it comes to fixing their "schedules" than Mischa, or maybe the powers that be don't want her to.

And I dont care if you smoke 20 a day and people say you look young, your insides are what counts not the outside.
14What a waste of space. She's ugly, has no talent to speak of, and basically does nothing with her life.
15it's funny. you see the stills from the show and she looks great and then you see her on the street like this and to be honest, she's really not that attractive here. i guess it all has to do with hair/makeup/wardrobe/lighting.
i just wish her the best and hope that she's really getting better and that the show does well so she has 'purpose' for a while.
16It's interesting to think back on some of her 'comments' and interview tidbits when she was starring on The OC. At the time I was aghast at this girl's superinflated ego, but now you have to wonder if it was just some kind of overcompensation for a really poor self image.
17Sad to say, she looks downright awful here. What's far worse than a few extra pounds is that she looks ill. I hope she isn't feeling pressure to act like she is all well and good when she really isn't... because that could have some really tragic consequences.
