Madonna is now the proud mother of three! She adopted a one-year-old little boy today in Malawi, Africa. He was the lucky one of 12 hand picked for Madonna before she arrived for her brief visit. Wow - this kid scored big time! Here's more:

“She asked us to identify boys only, which we have done after visiting four orphanages in Lilongwe,” government spokeswoman Adrina Michiela said. Michiela said Madonna had wanted to adopt a girl but changed her mind two weeks ago.
It was unclear whether Madonna, for whom Malawi waived its ban on non-resident adoptions, would leave the country with her adopted baby or whether they would be reunited at a later date.
Madonna has said she plans to spend at least $3 million on programs to support orphans in Malawi and another $1 million to fund a documentary about the plight of children in the country.
UPDATE - US Weekly reports that Madonna's rep is denying she adopted a baby boy today:
"I can confirm Madonna is in Malawi on a private visit," the singer's publicist Liz Rosenberg said when contacted by Us Weekly. "She is building an orphanage and child care center and is involved in other initiatives geared toward helping children orphaned by Aids thru the Raising Malawi organization. She has not adopted a baby despite reports that she has."

man, it sems like adopting poor kids from africa is all the rage. i'm still happy for madonna and her family though.
1good for her-- but her arms are scary!
2Yay! good for Madonna. Good to know she's donating oh, let's say .3% of what she makes.
3they "hand-picked" 12 little boys for her? how do you do that? "well, that one is far to ugly for madonna. send in only the cutest and most advanced developmently!"
I wnat to make fun of her so badly, but she save a little kid...
4man... mads is constantly surprising me hahaha... malwai is the poorest country in the world... good for her... but perhaps she should lay off the weights...
5do you think Guy adopted him too? or just Madge?
6there are so many 1 year old babies in the US that need homes... guess that wouldn't garner enough press for the biggest attnetion wh*re on the planet. kind of sad when you think about it.
7god look a her arms!
8but good for her for donating the money, though it's hardly a drop in the bucket that is her bank account
9She just wants to take the spotlight away from super couple angie and brad.
10why doesn't anyone ever adopt AMERICAN children these days
11Alot of people do. Just not celebrities.
12Seems like she's trying to stay trendy to me.
13Yes. I feel the same way but on a brighter note, Congrats to Madge and the new kid.
14It's great for that kid, and it's great to add to your family, I just wonder if she had ever even considered it before it got so much press lately.
15Yeah I feel like hmm whose next to adopt? Posh? lol.
16wow, thats a nice thing for maddona to day well she had to catch on the trend of adopting a la angi, s.stone, etc....
Atleast she is doing some Good...
17I was wondering the same thing, sashak, why is there no mention of Guy anywhere in this story? Odd.
18Malawi is WHERE?
19(okay, I know AFRICA, but where in Africa?)
20The baby was 'hand-picked', LOL...sounds like the kid was plucked from the produce section in a food store.
And I see her Rambo-Death-Arms-From-Hell are still functioning at maximum capacity.
21Ahh this has melted my cold heart....how nice of her...I like people who try to make a difference...I would like to adopt one day...I have always wanted to do this since I was a child.
22Peep, malawi is near to Mozambique, it's South East I think...
23I'm happy for her, I love her work and this kid is lucky!
i don't like the way this sounds either. good god, at least the children weren't old enough to know they were rejected. maybe it was a translation error and she they just gathered the babies closest in age to her request. yikes, makes it sound like she went shopping and yet i want to be happy for the child.
24Lucky ass kid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
25On the one hand, there's lots to say about why, when and how she went about this. On the other hand, this has to be better for the child than what he would have faced.
26If we are going to be adopting from poor nations what about Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Niger, Chad those are really poor countries even poorer than Malawi and honestly these babies are becoming way hotter accessories than the latest Balenciaga bag. She handpicked 12 kids, handpicked 12? That little ol' line right there really annoyed me those kids better not have known. It bugs me that superstars get laws waived for them and get their way all the time. It totally sucks cos there are people out there who want kids and are denied by these governments and yeah what happened to adopting kids from Us and England there are plenty that need homes. first it was Asian kids now it's African kids, they might be sincere but it's starting to seem like a fad.
27for some reason it really does sound like she's trying to jump on the angelina good girl bandwagon. she is constantly touring how can she have time to take care of another child the right way? i dunno, this is weird
28There's more to the story...
She traveled to Mphandula, a village 20 km (12.5 miles) outside Lilongwe, where she is funding the construction of the Raising Malawi center to feed and educate around 1,000 orphans. As part of their studies, orphans at the center will be taught a curriculum based on Spirituality for Kids linked to the Kabbalah school of mysticism to which Madonna adheres.
Residents in Mphandula, which has no electricity, were earlier busy rehearsing songs and preparing for her arrival.
29I think it is really sad that so many people are attacking her for this. Maybe she was considering this before Angelina started adopting, or maybe Angelina inspired who to do something nice. Who cares? She is donating money and a LIFETIME of raising a human being who was born into poverty. How can that be a bad thing? Good deeds, even done for whatever motives you are all speculating, are still good deeds.
30as far as i can tell, most of the snark is directed at the wierd wording of the press-release. It is very cool thing to have done & I'm sure everyone recognizes that.
31its not true....she did NOT adopt a baby..her publicist just confirmed that she went there but DID NOT ADOPT A BABY
32oh. then we are hyped up over nothing.
33she's all veiny
34I like nicole better
35wrong post hehehe
36It seems weird coming from her...plus the way she has chosen the 12 children it's also weird i mean they r not cattle!!i'm afraid of this woman!

'I wanna know God's thoughts,the rest r details..'
Oh my god i just had a thought since the moment she wore that stupid red bracelet it became a newly crappy trend, is this mean that picking up orphans in africa or anywhere else will be too????**shuddering'**her kabbalah drifts scares me away!

'I wanna know God's thoughts,the rest r details..'
Meh, Madonna's career is just a continuing evolution of gimmicks and trends. Had this been true, I would have agreed with catnc that (while she may not have been trying to outdo Brad & Angie) she was just hopping on another damn trend like everyone else. But at least it isn't?
39But it looks like the part about her building an orphanage where kids will be taught kabbalah may be real. That way she doesn't have to interact with them personally, she can just send a check to have them trained.
Great... now watch Tiny Tom try it with an orphanage that trains kids in scientology.
40ummmmmmmmmm, okay now I'm confused...lol, I just watched that Jump video and she didn't look anything like that! gross, veiney veiney bo beiney...mo madgey is staaanky!!! OH OH I KNOW CELEBS......................Um there is this Country called , uuuu, the United States!!!!! uhhhh, with way too many babies who need adopted! Oh, I guess that's not the cool thing to do though, my bad!
41i wish she adopted Whitney's kid.
42but congrats to her!...that's why i just put my best dress on ( don't you lke it, people) to give her the award of THE ROLE MODEL to the new generation!
i need to change my wig for herlike.
We've been looking into adopting a child for a few years. There is SO much red tape and hassle with domestic adoptions - international ones are simplier.
43oh whatever
