Winona was channeling Carmen's Fashion Week hair from last year in the pages of this month's Vogue. Now that she's making movies again, the media is bringing back up that shoplifting scandal. We've learned that unlike today's starlets, Winona was embarrassed by her actions and learned a lesson. After her issue with painkillers she said, "No one (in my family) ever got angry with me. Concerned, yes, but not concerned with a drug problem or anything. Because after that night I pretty much didn't ever. … If you are ever arrested, you can't ever do that again." Hmmm, looks like Lindsay doesn't have the same set of standards as Winona who purposely left Hollywood for years so she wouldn't become a tabloid fixture. We hope the world welcomes her back since we'd love to see more creative hit films like Reality Bites, Edward Scissorhands and Heathers.

5I'm so glad she's back cause I love her as an actress but I agree Greggie it's a little disturbing she doesn't think she hurt anyone. All that shoplifting jacks up the prices for the rest of us so stores can re-coup their losses. Not to mention, court costs / jail time comes out of our pockets in the form of taxes. How does she not get that people are harmed by crime in any form!

16I've never really thought about how much I like her as a person. I like her movies. I guess I just assume she's grown up a bit since all her drama and is looking to be a responsible adult now. Hope she does make more movies! yay!

18I love her. I am sure she felt embarassed at what she did but it was like 6 years ago, time to move on. Not like she drove drunk through the streets (LL, Paris), plowed over innocent kids as she was driving and talking on her cell phone (Rebecca Gayheart), drove with her baby in her lap (sh*tney) or drove the wrong way on the freeway (N.R.). Technically she didnt hurt anyone except for herself, her reputation and her caree so she is the only one paying for her mistakes. Its not like she went out and did it again so whatev. And yes I do think she looks like Salma in this pics a lil.
19Well yeah, technically she didn't hurt anyone. No one's saying she did. It's her comment of feeling no guilt contradicting "learned her lesson" that confuses me. If you feel no remorse over the action, you didn't learn anything from it, even if you never did it again.
Sure, what she did wasn't all that bad. And she was "punished" for it. I just don't think I'd ever say she learned her lesson.
20You and me both Tiabia, I had a major girl crush on her! When I watch her films now though I'm really not sure she was ever such a great actress, she can be a bit over the top.
However, I think she should call Lindsay and Britney and let them know that it IS possible to withdraw from the limelight and the paps and the public will eventually lose interest. When you look at how those two have been treating their notoriety it's almost like they DON"T WANT the attention to go away. Hmmm...

27I think this is a good example of when it's appropriate to say: people make mistakes. It's NOT appropriate to say that in regard to total idiots like Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears. There should be a limit to how many stupid a** "mistakes" one person can make.
28What I got from her comments was that she was embarrassed enough by what she did that she took time away from Hollywood to get herself straightened out. She's moved on with her life, something she wouldn't have been able to do if she'd physically hurt somebody.
29I think enough time has passed that she shouldn't have to wake up every morning thinking about the shoplifting. However, if she'd killed someone, she would never be able to wake up without thinking about what happened.
This is total crap, she was stealing after her first arrest. She has a problem. She begged the store manager not to tell and the location decided to keep it a secret if she returned the merchandise. Only because she was caught and was in the South dealing with nice people did she get away with it not being a scandal. Article here for proof:

30I've always liked her and respected the fact that she KNEW she had to retreat from Hollywood in order to survive. You get to reclaim a certain amount of credibility just by how you react to the bad things you bring on yourself. Let's face it, Hollywood is not a normal place and if you allow it to completely suck you in then you in turn become abnormal.I think Winona has definitely been to the edge and decided to turn and run for her own good! I think when she says no one was hurt by what she had done, is just her way of reminding herself of where she could have ended up. She's probably very grateful for the choices she's made since then. But I seriously think Lindsay is too far gone to learn from examples or rehab. She needs JAIL.... it's detox and paying for your bad behavior all in one! There's no signing yourself out to go shopping or to pick up the latest cell phone... it's sitting in a cell and thinking over and over again about where you f@#%ed up!!!Her future needs to be taken out of her hands.

39I saw her filming once after the arrest. I don't know the film but she was looking really young. Really fresh. She's not beautiful in person (johansson is beautiful I've seen her). Well she's mature and hopefully she'll be in good films.

48She didn't learn her lesson, in my humble opinion. I think she just feels bad that she got caught, and it basically ruined her career.
