I really do miss my good ol' blonde cherubic Hilary Duff. Sje was my favourite person back when I was twelve. I met her and she was sooo sweet.

I think it's rude to ask for an autograph when someone's clearly out privately trying to spend time with their family. I can't imagine just walking up to someone and interrupting their personal time simply because I'm a fan. Gawking from across the room and trying to take a picture with my phone, sure. But I don't really blame stars who politely decline autograph requests.

Or in this case it's rude of the parents to allow their kids to barge in on a private dinner.

She had signed a menu already and she doesn't get a lot of time to spend with her family. She didn't have to sign it for the little girls. Give her a break.

It would be one thing of it was adults asking for autographs.They were 9 year old girls.She could of taken the time to sign there menus.How does she think she makes the money that is eating out with anyway.The little girls buy her clothes and see her movies.I think it's rude that she didn't sign it.I like her but not as much anymore.

I like her more for standing up for her private time. There's no way I'd let my child just walk up to someone and interrupt their dinner.

I am indifferent with this girl, I think she seems nice enough and isnt all f*cked up like the rest of young hollyweird. I thought the girls were the daughters of the restaurant owner - I read else where that they patiently waited until Duff was finished eating and only then they approached her - it would have taken mere seconds to sign her name. She forgets who put her where she is - all those Lizzy fans.

If it's the owner's daughter, that's even more rude. Talk about alienating your customers' privacy.

I agree Greggie! Some "fans" are VERY rude and think they are entitled to pester people 24/7.

I was once hanging with a musician, and the front desk clerk of the hotel called 6 TIMES requesting things! First it's can I get an autograph, then it's can I get tickets, then it's can I get tickets for my friend, then it's can I get passes...

People are just incredibily rude and greedy sometimes. The moment you draw a line they run and tell people you are rude.

I totally support Hillary, and if she is having dinner with her family she should be left alone.

Please, if she wants a private dinner with her family, she should try actually eating at home! Have the food catered or whatever, I'm sure most restaurants would be thrilled to cater a "star's" dinner. While I agree that stars do deserve their private time, if you TRULY want privacy, there are ways to get it, but it's just not as likely to happen in a public restaurant.

So now celebs have to only have sex in blacked out rooms, travel by hidden underground trains and eat Di Giorgno frozen pizza to have privacy???? I think anyone can write what they like on this board but once you've walked in their shoes you don't know what these people deal with. Why shouldn't she be with her family at a nice restaurant? Yep, I was the one who tried to capture a picture of Leo & his model girlfriend at a Cafe..as I stand outside holding up a camera..Then I thought sh** I look really dumb. Then I thought ah the picture will be in my mind foreva! hahaa

Plus, a lot of stars say no for the first request because then people may then think it's a free for all, and she'll be swamped and then have to say no...they can't win.

I don't think it's rude for Hilary not to sign., She was with her family, and I think it's rude for the kids to just interupt that to get an autograph( or rude of the parents, who let them go and ask) Just because she's famous doesn't mean Hilary doesn't deserve some downtime. The only people who would want to be recognisied and signing autographs are the attention wh*res.(No need to mention who they are!)

I'm, unfortunately, not one of those people who would spot a celebrity while they're out and about, seeing that I'm the polar opposite side of the US from Hollywood. ;O

Was she with her extended family? or was it her mom and her sister? if it's her mom and her sister, I don't really think the excuse of private time with her family really cuts it. i mean, she lives with her sister and her mom lives like two doors down, and she's always with one or the other.

It's her perogative if she does or doesn't want to sign autographs. I'd rather read about Hilary than LL.

Sorry for the family (well, not really) but hey she was eating with her family. I would never interrupt someone famous that I liked while they are eating to have an autograph or take a picture.

She doesn't have to sign if she doesn't want to, but now that the story's out she's going to have to answer questions about how she could be so mean to little kids and why she's so ungrateful and blah blah blah. Why don't stars realize that it takes less energy to sign the autograph and be done with it than to drag it out into this long "poor pitiful me" scene? She's going to be answering for this for weeks, which is a lot longer than it would have taken to talk to some fans.

And I'm sorry, but no matter who you are, if you're in a public place your right to privacy is nil. I have to talk to people I don't want to talk to when I'm out in public, too. How come I can't just say, "I'm sorry, but I can't talk to you right now, I never have any privacy when I'm out in public, hmph!" I could, of course, but then people would call me a b*tch. Like people are calling Hilary.

I've seen tons of stars in stores, on the street, in restaurants, while traveling on planes, etc. Not once have I ever interrupted their personal down time to ask for an autograph or a picture...they're not on a red carpet. That's just my view but I know I wouldn't want to be bothered so I won't bother them. The kids will live without a signature.

I used to like her and respect her and thought that she had it all together but not anymore! She is selfish and full of herself - It would not have taken any of precious time to sign a few autographs - I guess she forgot her fans are the ones that go to her movies and buy her music! Bad Hilary bad!
