J Lo and Marc have been side-by-side on their El Cantante promotional tour, but Jennifer went solo in some Fab shoes to The Today Show this morning. The movie is obviously near and dear to both Jen and Marc, but it's been especially important to her as the first film from her new company, Nuyorican Productions. She told Matt Lauer about why she chose this project in particular, "I always wanted this to be first because it’s a Latin story, because it does have music in it. I felt it just personified everything I’ve been about through my career." Well, considering the story is ultimately tragic, hopefully it's not about everything in her career, but it's always good to hear about stars' passion projects.

1I know that Jennifer might be a bit too much but I love that she embraces her Latin roots and doesn't come off as pretentious about it.
But sadly I don't think their "passion project" will do much in the box office.

7Jlo couldn't speak Spanish until a few years ago ain't nothin about embracing Latin roots.And do any of these stars take a part because of the money and the hopes that it will be a hit or elevate their profile..... cos they sure act like it's about artistic integrity.

24I completely agree that JLo takes on whatever the "pride" of her current flame is. I like her in general, but I wouldn't say she's had an ongoing pride of her heritage or been less than obnoxious.

36Can we stopwith thte embracing of the roots. I know quite a few hispanic people and they are fiercely proud of their culture, language etc and they support all things hispanic. And honestly now in America the hispanic audience counts in a way it never id before. they have buying power and influence and J.Lo needed a new audience and you all know Maria Santiago from Mexico is not going to embrace a girl who identifies herself as Hispanic yet can't Estoy muy cansada!
