fashionstar, IMO if a person wants to be an actress, they shouldn't try and be a celebrity (aka "star"). Someone like Meryl Streep has had an incredible career because she was known more for her work, and not her personality away from work.

There is a big difference between being a celebrity, and being an actress.

I haven't seen Dreamgirls yet (I was Beyonce'd out last winter), so I can't say whether I agree with the fact that she won.

But most of the time, the Oscar nominees are really all amazing performers. The Oscars arent usually decided upon by large box office performances, but politics do affect them occasionally (I am still bitter over predictible Crash beating Broke Back Mountain).

I didn't see Dreamgirls at the theaters like all of my loser friends who said it was the best thing they'd ever seen. I really don't like musicals and I just knew it was going to suck because of all the hype. I saw it on DVD and it was awful, the plot was shaky and there was no real point to it. Beyonce was terrible, so was Eddie Murphy, and the only part that Jennifer was good in was when she sang I'm Telling You. I saw Notes on a Scandal and Cate Blanchett did a wayyyy better job.

Her performance was nice in Dreamgirls. Albeit I've seen more compelling performances, but hers was passing. Cate Blanchett already has won 2 Oscars, so I'm happy that Jennifer won one. Sorry, but I can't see Jennifer as being more of a Diva than the infamous BEYONCE.

I still haven't seen Dreamgirls. I did see Notes On A Scandal and Cate was brillant as always, but even she said that it was Jennifer's year, that she was great in Dreamgirls and she was going to win the Oscar.

Cate probably said that just to be nice and jen still didn't deserve the oscar. I don't care if it was her first movie plus the script totally sucked so it's not just her it's really the whole movie. someone tell me what was the freaking point of it.

Jen is stunning.... I fell in love with her in Dream girls... since i stopped watching american idol after the like the 3rd season I didnt get to know her on there.... But I still love her.... I think she should have gotten the oscar.... but I dont think she will have another oscar worthy performance........ plus there are so many other actors who deserve the honor and have been in the business for a hell of a lot longer and paied their dues with amazing film after amazing film.... But hey can't hate on Jen she was at the right place at the right time!

i dont think jen deserved her oscar because she won it because of her singing. she shouldve gotten a grammy or something instead. i dont c why shes a "role model" for girls because she isnt skinny. shes overweight and i think that isnt what society should be aiming to be. beyonce nad scarlett johanessen r healthy, curvy nad gorgeous. i think theyre better role models.

I saw dreamgirls and was disappointed- I did not get what all the fuss was about. Jennifer was the only good thing in the movie but the whole story was so pointless!
Admittedly, the main reason why I like Jennifer is cuz she's curvy and gorgeous- not cuz of her talent

I'm going to say it's probably the "Chicago" in her that may irk some and make her come off as having an attitude. That's one of the reasons that I love her, and people from Chicago. The majority of the people that I know from Chicago are the sweetest people, but they also have an I "don't play" attitude...and J-Hud has it!!!
