Whitney Houston took the stage in NYC for Good Morning America yesterday, and the outcome was more than a little shaky. Her voice was scratchy and she struggled to hit the high notes, which she said was a result of an emotional discussion with Oprah the day before. You guys were pretty psyched for her return last month, but tell us what you think of this video — do you still have high hopes for Whitney's comeback?
i don't know why she tries anymore. this comeback thing is lame. she she is OVER for a lot of years. i guess she needs some money.
1ok, let me tell ya that I haven't given a crap about the upcoming music of Whitney since the early 90's...she has amazing vocal ability, which has been tainted by the freebasing of cocaine and the dabbling with crack ("crack is cheap, I'm too rich for crack")for a zillion years...she's Whitney effin Houston, she doesn't need a comeback, she should sit down and enjoy being Bobby free
2i do and i think that ultimately she'll succeed. think about all the pressure that's on her right now to perform and to be great. it's got to be hard and nerve wrecking knowing what the media says about her and has said about her. what's one performance right?
3I love her.I'm going to buy a copy next week.
4Whitney was amazing........chile
5Why are there so many haters. If you don't like her or if you don't appreciate her amazing gift then don't go to her concerts or buy her music, but please remember that she is a human being just like the rest of us.
I wonder how any of us would 're-bound' or 'comeback' if all of our Laundry (Dirty and Clean) were put on display? If every (private or personal) mistake or misstep we ever made or (personal) choice that didn't turn out the way that we'd hoped was made public?
She is an icon. Her place in history has been carved out. Why can't we all just wish her well, pray for her, just because she is a human being, a single working mom like millions of others ?
Even if you don't get it, don't like her, or whatever...What happened to do unto others?
6She was a Diva among Divas, God given voice, one like I've never heard before; undeniable beauty enhanced even more by the strength of her vocals. That was in the 80's. Whitney's time has come and gone. What made her what she was, was her ability to come across with the dance, love as well as the heartbreak songs. Her talent limited only by her ability to overcome the obstacles that confronted her until Bobby came along. I understand Whitney. Her desire to have one, and only one in her life, wanting to stand by her man come hell or high water. Unfortunately it was the wrong choice. Why she didn't see that (like the rest of us did right away) is beyond me. It's gotta be that 'girls likes bad boys thing'. With her intelligence towards the music industry (and a little help from Clive’s magic) she made right choice after right choice. But with Bobby came the drugs. With drugs came the lack of any insight, and destruction of what was once the greatest vocal chords God had ever assembled into a human being. Her latest album provides more story than true to herself music. Giving praise, and thanks rather then speaking to what she used to sing of, Dancing, love, and pain which she now ironically fully understands. If you're expecting that 21 year old bubbly fully of life I can dance and sing the night away Whitney, you're going to be severely disappointed. Her voice has aged, affected by drugs and smoking she can no longer belt out the crisp, highly controlled highs, nor does her voice carry that melodic balance of youthful growl or sensuous temptation that accompanied her loving ballads. No, those days are gone. Her new album contains a middle performance of notes, the love is now affection, the pain, is simply accepted, the dance... well.. the dance just isn't there anymore. Can you expect that from someone Whitney’s age? Madonna keeps trying, although failing miserably. Madonna could never really sing anyways. Her forte was dance. She tries hard, but like most older ‘I ruled the 80's' performers, fails to understand that behind 21 year old sounds, must be, a 21 year old. They just don't work anymore. Whitney's attempt isn't much better. Don't misunderstand me. Whitney had no bigger fan than I back in the 80's. I'll argue that with anyone. No one could argue her success, her voice, her beauty back then. It's just not there anymore. Still a beautiful woman. But the inner scars, the ones she used to sing about, are showing. You can't take away what she did in the 80's, her record number of #1 songs, total albums sold all stand in testimony to what she achieved. But those days are gone. Don't expect Grammys from this CD or any future music from Whitney. Why? Because she's singing away from what she was. She can't sing like that anymore, and it was what she had in the 80's that made her. Am I ripping Whitney? In no way. She was the absolute best of the best ever in the 80's. I to this day listen to that music; I don't think I'll ever tire of that voice. Her beauty has matured, as has her voice. So must the music. Had she attempted to sing what, and how she did in the 80's, both her voice and the music would have failed. What she's done in her selection of music has moved forward to what she can, and needed to. It's just not the Whitney we knew. I certainly wish her the best moving forward, and.. yea the love is still there for her...
As far as a comeback attempt. She'll try, but her glory days are long gone. I would love to see her, just because she's Whitney, but I don't believe it's in the stars for her. But we will always have her past to keep with us.
7She's doing great, finally Bobby free. I heard her daughter was there with her, that's good.
8She's got a wonderful gift, and you haters stop writing sh*t about her. She knows that the pressure is on her.
I love her music, i always have. I'm definitely going to buy a copy right away.
I love Whitney, but she looked and acted drunk. Pressure from being the first time out there in 7 years? Probably, but she is far from recovered. She couldn't put a simple sentence together and her backup singers sang most of the songs. A terrible display.
9The new album this is for you shows a 46 year old Houston's voice, and as a fan from the beginning I can tell her voice ages like anyone else. HOWEVER, the drugs have deteriorated her voice far beyond what just aging would have done to her. The vast majority of the loss of her vocal ability I would say even 75% was due to her drug abuse. She still would have sounded STELLAR if she had never used drugs and she was just Whitney at 46 years old. She is not THAT old to lose vocal smoothness like this. The album is fine although Whitney's voice is just a shadow of what it was in the late 90's and before.
10i think she is the best and no one can touch her.so she messed up but give her a chance and she will prove you haters wrong.like she did on oprah.i love you whitney and you keep on and you keep strong.your #1 FAN
11by the way there's nothing wrong with her voice.so i will say it again you haters.that's all you are is some hater.i bet you can't do it.hey Whitney shake the haters off.because your still #1 always & forever
