Kirsten Dunst was evidently up for the role of Kevin Spacey's teenage love interest in the 1999 film American Beauty but turned it down. The film went on to win five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Spacey. Ironically, it was Kevin who put Kirsten off doing the film. She said, "I was only 15 then and I didn't want to kiss Kevin Spacey or be seen lying naked in those rose petals."

15I agree, Mena has one of those faces that sometimes she looks great, others, not so much, or some people think she's cute, while others think she resembles ET. But I think that was kind of the point too, as the dad was totally taken with her, but Ricky was not. I loved the scene where Ricky humbles her.
