Kanye made a total scene to kick off the VMAs. The first award of the night was Best Female Video, presented by Taylor Lautner and Shakira. Taylor Swift won and right as she started to give her acceptance speech, Kanye West jumped on stage, grabbed the mic from her hand, and started ranting. He said the Moonman should have gone to Beyonce for "Single Ladies," leaving the crowd — including Beyonce herself — looking quite shocked. He was booed immediately. Maybe he shouldn't have been drinking his way down the red carpet?

46I'm sorry for her because that was embarrassing, but Kanye did voice everybody's opinion. The reason why Swift is so popular on MTV is because she is so young and marketable, just like Spears, Aguilera and others before her. She's definitely not the most talented of the bunch and didn't deserve to win. Nobody here in Europe knows who she is, unlike Lady Gaga and Beyoncé who have a real personality and personal style.
10 years ago there was a true diversity in music videos on MTV : indie rock, pop, rap, electronic, popular music and underground. There was a real quality in their shows and the programs were mostly about music. Now it's all about reality TV (thank you for the Hills and it's crappy "stars"...) and heavily-marketed music. You will never see a video of Radiohead for instance anymore. What a waste...
