Tobey Maguire took an afternoon off from his beautiful girls to go for a serious bike ride in LA this weekend. Obviously he is keeping in tip top shape for when he has to put his Spidey lycra back on, but something about these pictures is kinda adorably dorky. I feel like part of the reason it's always a little funny to see celebs working out is because they always get so into the gear aspect of it (obviously they can afford the accessories, Fergie is a prime example). If you're thinking of enjoying the summer with a nice long bike ride, be sure to check out Fit's tips on how to avoid the aches and pains.

I don't think the biking gear is funny, I think it's totally necessary for comfort and safety. And Toby definitely does enough of it to have a basis for preferring full biking gear.
1spiderman on wheels
2ew skinny men are so wussie! who can they protect!?
3I love this man!
He looks really fit these days, gorgeous guy, cute father and wonderful actor.
4Go Tobey! I think he is still a cutie!
5This makes me cringe. Not a fan of Tobey Maguire, doesnt have much of a range where acting is concerned.
6I agree spandex is extremely necessary when biking long distances, but Christ, the amount of $$$ he spent on that bike when he probably could have bought something a little more efficient is kinda laughable.
Ferrari is good at making cars, not bikes, but hey if you got $5000-$10,000 to burn on a name, go for it!
he lost a lot of weight, that's crazy.
7HAWT!!!
8It's not just for long distances. Honestly, as the wife of a man who bikes, I'd FAR rather we spend a little extra than to have him on a basic bike with no groin protection. I may want more kids someday.
9LOL , Fergie is the perfect example for that .
10i actually think he looks hott here .
11I would never suggest a basic bike to anyone. I make and repair bikes. You can take a 3 year old Trek bike and repair it with new high-end parts and it would be just as good, if not better than the bike he bought for 5-10k. There is a huge difference in spending for showcase vs. spending for long distance/ training/ pleasure cruising.
12That bike is ridiculous. And lets be honest, I don't think TM spent "a little more," on that bike either.
A Bianchi, Specialized, Trek even Fuji are all decent well-made bikes specifically made by people who know how to make bikes. They are still expensive, but not obscenely expensive like a Ferrari bike. To me it seems absurd to buy a bike by a company that specifically makes cars, thats all.
But like I said before, you got a lot of money to burn...
go ahead and burn 10k away...
I was talking about the overall gear, not the bike. Although I'm sure to Tobey it's just "a bit" more money.
13protection aside, you have to admit full body spandex is a super geeky.
14Specifically, the bike seat and shorts with padded protection. Not the actual brand of bike.
15I see my husband in full bike gear far too often to think it's geeky. *lol* After seeing him finish an Ironman, the sense of pride and overwhelming admiration totally outweighs any geekiness.
16safety first!!
17Seriously, it was a huge concern of mine when he first started. *lol* I said I wanted more kids, he said obviously it was ok since Lance Armstrong was still making kids, and I said "But he FROZE his sperm!!"
18He is so hot.
19Gawd he's so unattractive. And the outfit just makes me want to run over him in my car even more.. Cretin.
