I cannot stand Barry Bonds.
I don't like BB. I think he's jacked up on something and that's why he got the record...
Maybe not, but I still don't like him.
Barry Bonds.... *
Barry bonds record was probably not achieved in a way that's legal but hey whatever it takes and do the police in France have nothing better to do. Are there no murderers or rapists to be caught. And Tameka Foster has her game on lock gold-diggers could take lessons from her
I'm with you ccsugar "Barry Bonds*"
Barry = ***
Yah Barry!!! I am a San Fran girl and watched it last night!!
Blah Barry Bonds. Oh well, A Rod will break it again anyway.
I kept hoping Hank Aaron would casually flip him off - you know, disguised as like scratching his eye or something.
GO BARRY BONDS! I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!
Ha Ha Greggie! I wish. That's all ESPN can talk about now. UG.
I never felt compelled to join PopSugar until today. The absoluate ignorance about Barry Bonds and all he has accomplished throughout his career just irks me! He is probably one of the greatest players in the MLB, ever. He has the Golden Gloves, Silver Bats, MVP awards, and now the homerun record to prove it. He has tested steroid-free since 2004 and if he was on steroids, it was NOT against MLB policy at that time. Everyone made a fuss over Mark McGuire and Sammy Sosa, two players also accused of taking steroids, but they give Barry sh*t over it! Barry's accomplishment is great and if A-Rod surpasses him then fine, but I doubt he will.
Yay Barry!!! I for one am proud to be a fan of his!!
only sucky thing is that stupid METS fan getting the ball! sniff! it belongs to a tried and true GIANTS fan! its all weve got this season!
Boo Barry Bonds. Can't stand him! Yeah Roxy, ARod will be breaking that fo sho!
And OMG I'm Gold!! Yay!! I just got that status!
I do think it really sucks that some guy who was only at the game because he had a layover in San Francisco got the ball.
barry has not accomplished this record BECAUSE of steroids people, he is a phenom, and the haters are just jealous! i dare anyone to take steroids and try to do what he can do! it WONT HAPPEN!
I'm sorta with you, Nitapita... the MLB kinda let this happen. But still, I'm going to stick with the asterisk *!
I'm not jealous, but it's a nice diagnosis. I just think he's a giant jackass, I couldn't care less about any steroid use.
http://sports.aol.com/mlb/story/_a/mets-fan-wrestles-ball-from-bleachers... doesnt even CARE about barry or this record! the greatest and most respected in ALL of SPORTS!
Oh and I didn't even mean the "giant" pun. *lol*
Cheaters never REALLY win.
i guess a "soccer" fan isnt going to understand a SPORT like baseball or the magnitude of this accomplishment!
I'm just glad the Barry Bonds thing is over. I'm so sick of hearing about it!
That just made my day.
i agree that he has done some "jackass" things in his personal life-but that doesn't discount the major accomplishments on the field!!
It's not only his decade long steroid use that makes him a loser, but it's also his arrogant, pompus, "everyone's a racist" attitude that really turns me off.
I never said it wasn't a huge accomplishment. I said I cannot stand him and that I secretly wish Hank Aaron would've flipped him off.
I'm not a fan of Barry Bonds but I made myself watch it because it's one of those "do you remember where you were when this happened" moments. Grrr.
Hank Aaron was emotional and a true athlete - he enjoyed the moment. Did anyone actually watch it?? I did..
I watched it. I wouldn't have normally but my husband was very insistent. *lol* It's always interesting to watch, regardless of how I feel about the person.
we were there! the stadium was electric! i thought henry aaron was polite but a little insincere...it was kinda just all "politically correct" to me...and bud selig is a creep for not participating when it was HIS organization that prolonged addressing the issue for so many years, just turning a blind eye, to get fans and money back into baseball over the hype of hitting bombs....
no only a fan of a sport that supports and practically endorses steroid users gets his accomplishments and of one that has players that kill, maim and torture animals gets accomplishments like that. True sports are for violent, drug pushers and abusers it seems. I'll stick to "non-sport" like soccer the only scandal i have to worry about there is a player cheating on his wife.
Nita I do not want to get in a huge debate over this but my dislike of Barry Bonds has nothing to do with steroids. I just personally think he is a very unlikeable person. He still an amazing baseball player, steroids or not. I can differentiate between Barry Bonds baseball player and Barry Bonds human being.
Anyway, people made a fuss over Sammy Sosa and Mac because that was in 1998, way before the lid blew of the steriod scandal. They don't make a fuss about those two now, at all. Also, even though steroid use may have been legal in MLB at the time, it is still against the country's law which trumps MLB.
I agree about Bud Selig and his crappiness.
dont forget the headbutting and so far, michael vick hasnt been indicted, and is the animal abuse all youve got???...athletes are far from perfect but their personal lives are separate from their performance on the fields!
I really don't know how I feel about this. It really was a cool moment to watch last night. So much hype and excitement...it was neat to see americans celebrate something so american in such a huge way. However, whether this record was reached with "extra help"...well, if it was...that only shows america in a pathetic light...that we don't care how success is reached, we will turn a blind eye to what went on behind the scenes of someone who has cheated on their wife and possibly reached this stardom by foul play...but heck, as long as it's "success" then lets celebrate. bleh.
How did Vick get brought into Barry Bond's record???
IDK, It's really hard to separate their personal lives from their professional ones. Especially when you're a big fan of the team, or when little kids look up to you. I think athletes need to be very careful to set a good example for their followers on and off the field.
A-Rod will definitely break the record again. And I'm not even a Yankees fan.
Umm headbutting is that the best you can come up with?
I don't know animal abuse doesn't seem
to mean less than one headbutt, LMAO!!! When you are an idol for kids then heck yes your personal life is brought into it, when you are being paid to endorse products directed to kids and the
public then you are answerable if what you do outside the game is harmful to the image of the sport.
They get paid 60 million bucks plus not to f!!k up off the field.
Bonds sucks.
I can't stand Barry Bonds or Usher's mom.
I can't stand Barry Bonds or Usher's mom.
AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED THIS ACCOMPLISHMENT DOES NOT COUNT! HE CHEATED HIS WAY INTO THIS RECORD. HANK AARON WOULD HAVE BEEN INSULTED BY THE WAY HE REACHED THESE NUMBERS....I AM ROOTING FOR ALEX RODRIGUEZ TO BEAT THE RECORD (unless of course he becomes like Barry-a steroid user)
in theory, yes celebs and athletes and politicians and others in the public limelight would lead exemplary lives as good role models to adults and kids, but its JUST not a reality or concern to those people anymore...and vicks in here bc nyaradzom keeps bringing it up!
i'm a huge baseball fan (obviously, given my avatar), and this whole situation just stinks. i've always loved hank aaron because he was my dad's IDOL growing up, and the whole record has been tarnished now. so has the single-season home run record; mark mcgwire invoked the 5th amendment so he wouldn't have to testify about steroid use. it's obviously NOT just bonds. and 69% of the players who've tested positive for steroids are pitchers, not hitters. it's a game-wide problem. my hope is that alex rodriguez will eventually break whatever mark bonds sets, because he has never had any association whatsoever with steroids.
oh calm down ladybugrenee and get off your high horse i ony brought it up because you said that american football and baseball were real sports with real athlestes and I was pointing out out how real those athletes are. You didn't have to respond did you?
im not the excited one at all, just think its funny bc in america people are innocent until proven guilty, yet youre lynching vick already...sure, hes likely a huge part of that horrible dog fighting ring, and its hideous, but to me, cheating on your wife (as you say soccer players do), to whom youve given your word and life committment is worse, guess just different values..
