Kate Winslet looks every bit the glamorous movie star on the pages of the September issue of Harper's Bazaar UK. In the article, Kate talks about all the exciting projects she has going on right now, from working with Leo again, and her deal with L’Oréal, to having her husband direct her for the first time in Revolutionary Road. Despite it all, Kate remains insistent on one thing: that she is very much the normal girl-next-door. She said:
"I think I look normal, I really do, and that's the whole point. I want people to see that I'm the girl next-door - I'm just like everyone else - but with a great hair stylist, great make-up and a fab frock that has been made to fit, like that Valentino dress I wore last night, which was let out because it was minuscule. I feel very comfortable with the fact that it's putting on a persona, it's putting on a face, it's putting on your best effort when you go on a red carpet It's two hours and make-up. I don't wake up looking like that!"
While we somehow doubt that Kate wakes up looking anything but stunning, it's definitely refreshing to hear one of Hollywood's most beautiful A-listers speak so candidly. Kate has definitely proved herself to be one of the few movie stars who is also a great role model.

I actually agree with her - I think in photos were she's just out and about, I think she's pretty, but nowhere near as stunning as she is in photoshoots where she's glammed up.
Is her natural hair color that blond or more like the red in Titanic?
1I love her, but she looks a bit airbrushed. Or at least that's what I'm getting from this pics.
2Kudos to Kate for acknowledging that behind the dresses and the makeup, celebrities are just regular people. She sounds like she's got a good head on her shoulders and a healthy amount of self-esteem, unlike the sizeable egos of celebrities half her age.

4Oh and while I agree that it's GREAT that she's much more natural, I don't necessarily agree that she's a great model. In the process of knocking thinness, she's made some very harmful remarks about weight herself. Saying skinny isn't beautiful can cause a naturally thin person to endanger their health to put on weight just as much as heavier women can endanger their health trying to lose it.

8She's gorgeous and what cover isn't airbrushed. Having lived in LaLaland, you see celebrities all the time and what you learn is that with a great makeup artist and stylist, in addition to plastic and airbrushing, anyone can look GREAT. And that most stars are not as perfect in person as you imagine them to be. Regardless, Kate is beautiful both inside and out and that makes her stand apart from all those untalented party girls that are splashed across the tabloids. She is a breath of fresh air and she's also talented on the screen.

15She's actually gorgeous in person as well. I walked past her on a street in London once. She was heavier then and had no make-up on and still looked amazing.

17Fav actress EVER!!!! I love and completely adore her. She is beautiful and incredibly talented. In interviews she comes across as very smart and down to earth. Greggie, did she really say skinny isn't beautiful? That seems unlike her. Maybe her comment came out wrong; she probably meant to say being unhealthy to be skinny isn't beautiful. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt, because she comes across as so intelligent and normal in interviews. And we all know what a rarity that is!

24Everyone gets airbrushed nowadays, that's why as soon as you see Charlize in a bikini people call her chubby. She's obviously not but they are used to seeing people airbrushed. I give Kate kudos for always admitting it takes hours to look like that and that's not what she looks like when she's home.
I think she will always be my favorite actress of my generation.
25And I think this is the coverage she likes...having pictures taken of her on the red carpet and in magazines by a professional photographer. I don't wish the paparazzi on her for anything. As much as I like and admire her, I rather read about her in an interview and see her in a movie. Oh and hopefully watch her accept an Academy Award sometime soon.

I've heard her talking about her children and family and how there is more to life than just celebrity. She sets a good, healthy example for her daughter especially.
