Ontario, Canada's biggest energy user, aims to close its last coal-fired plant by 2014. The current Conservative government plans on continuing 2003's Liberal government's plan of refurbishing existing plants, which now represent 37% of installed power and are maintaining the possibility of building new ones. It also plans "to push conservation, reinvest in renewable supply sourcse such as wind power, and boost by 15% its reliance on natural gas to supplement what's lost from coal."
