Can you believe this? Rush Limbaugh is an a**hole and you all know how much I hate to use bad words. Mocking Michael J. Fox is just wrong in so many ways. I don't care if he has since apologized, the painkilling pill popper should think before he speaks. We know the ad that MJ did is sad to watch but Rush should not have opened his mouth up like he did. Michael J Fox was the original poster boy for my generation. Secret of my Success is still one of my favorite movies of all time. Why would anyone bash someone suffering from such a serious disease as Parkinson's. Here's more:
Michael J. Fox, who suffers from Parkinson's disease, appears in a TV ad for a Senate candidate who supports stem-cell research, and the severe shaking and stiffness associated with the disease are evident in his movements. But conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh has accused the actor of exaggerating his symptoms for the camera.Commenting on Fox's commercial for Missouri Senate challenger Claire McCaskill, Limbaugh said on his syndicated radio program Tuesday, "He is moving around and shaking, and it is purely an act."
Limbaugh later said on the show, "If this was not an act, then I apologize." He also went on to say, however, that Fox is allowing his illness to be exploited.
Fox's rep, John Rogers, called Limbaugh's remarks "shameful," USA Today reports. "It's an appalling, sad statement. Anybody who understands Parkinson's disease knows it's because of the medicine that one experiences" involuntary movements like those Fox shows in the commercial.
You know we like to keep this site friendly but sometimes we need to get nasty when we are upset by what happened.

2Wow! I'm completely shocked that someone would be so insensitive to a very serious disease. I cried watching this video of MJF.
3Wow what a complete ass. That is unbelievable
4some people are so heartless.. that is a very upsetting video & can't see how someone could be so cruel
5That is a horrible thing to do.....for all of us who believe in 'kharma' 'reap what you sow' 'what goes around comes around'.......I try to avoid heartless people*
6what a despicable basta rd!

What could you expect from a right-wing talk show host.
8Maybe FINALLY any supporters this a**hat had left will finally jump ship. What an insensitive and idiotic thing to say.
9What an A-hole. I found out about this prior to seeing this post. Still--exploiting his illness? Please. He is raising awareness. Just like Lance Armstrong. Just like Sheryl Crow. Just like all the other celebrities who support Diabetes, and all other illness/conditions. His situation is no different than others, he just wants to raise awareness. Chill out.
10I'm glad to see other people were as disgusted with Rush's comments as I was. To even suggest that MJF is faking his symptoms is beyond low....but I guess not all that unexpected from someone like Rush.
11go take your oxytoxin and shut the f*ck up rush
12could you imagine if someone went on there pretending to have Down's, or Turretts?
13i had a friend in HS who had turretts and we went to catholic school and he use to fake curse outbursts in class and the nuns would have coronarys hehe
14"
15what a horrible, horrible thing to say! what is wrong with him?!
16Unbelievable.

17Eww what a pig! I'd love to slap him across the face!
How can someone say something so cruel about some poor man suffering from such a terrible disease?
18Absolutely appalling. Someone should run over that fat fuçk with a military tank.
19That's disgusting. He should be ashamed of himself.
20My grandmother has Parkinson's Disease, so I know first hand what those movements look like and the facial expressions of someone trying very hard to control those movements even while speaking. Even though I would never deny that MJF is a great actor, there are somethings you just can't fake. This is completely appauling. The only good think that I hope comes out of this is the media attention it will draw and possibly aid Claire McCaskill in getting elected bringing us one step closer in the legalization of Stem Cell research.
21Actually since MJF didn't take his Parkisons meds before he testified about it before Congress to make the effects seem worse he opened himself up to a lot of criticism. Not saying that the radio guy had any right to say what he did. But when you pimp out your illness and "cry wolf" you open yourself up for that sort of comment.
And please, this is for celeb gossip -- not political mongering. I go to wonkette for that.
Thx
22Maybe hes mad MJF is 95x hotter than he is!
23i mad now i got flagged for using the f word adn two people were allowed.. i feel discrimanated
24I agree w/ Crispet...He is NOT exploiting it, he is TRYING TO RAISE public awareness!! Moron! Never liked Rush anyway. And wasnt it Viagra he got caught with at an airport??
25Alright- If I could post something on People.com I would- but this will definitely do, what Rush said/meant was that M.J.Fox said in his VERY OWN BOOK that when it comes to pushing his position, before appearances he WILL NOT TAKE HIS MEDICATION, ultimately emphasizing his condition, also what he says against the Republican candidate is not true- he is simply against embryonic testing. It's not a fair representation of the story. JUST FYI.
26My grandmother has Parkinson's Disease so I know first hand what it the strained facial expressions look like when someone is trying hard to mask or control these movements. While I would never doubt MJF's acting abilities, this hits too close to home to be acting. The only good that I hope will come of Rush's a**hole move is maybe the media will draw enough attention to get Claire McCaskill some more supporters and aid her in winning the election which would bring us one step closer in the legalization of Stem Cell research.
27i just don't understand...did he not think for a single second before he said such an awful thing? did he not research parkinson's disease at all before he decided to open his hate-hole? he's said lots of awful things before but this is one of his worst.
28I agree with Cripset...it's not EXPLOITING, it's RAISING PUBLIC AWARENESS!!! DUUUHHHH! Never liked Rush anyway. And wasnt it viagra he got caught with at an aiport??
29TallTJ - yes, you are correct. MJF does not take his meds before he speaks politically about his disease. However, what difference does that make really? Does Rush think that if MJF is on his meds he is perfectly fine? No, not quite. I read MJF's book too, and there is nothing fine about it.
Not bashing you, just Rush's idiotic reasoning.
30Ya know I'not surprised by this at all. Those right-wing f*cks will say anything to get people's attention off the real issues. They are obvioulsy not above flat-out lying to the public to get what they want. WMDs anyone?
31i heard about this this morning and i was shocked that anyone would ever say such a thing!!! rush is an idiot, and just for what he did he should have his stupid ass show taken away. my uncle has parkinsons, and he is a world war II vet, and if anyone said anything about him i would mess em up!!!!
32I'm not trying to start a long ugly political debate here...FYI so please no-ne jump all over my 1st comment...Rush is just suck a dick he makes so angry
33I find this appalling. Rush is absolutely reprehensible.
One question, though... MJF ended his speech by saying "Americans like me." Isn't he Canadian?
34Okay, never mind. I just wiki'd it and MJF has dual citizenship in Canada and the US.
35I heard about this earlier today and also thought it was awful - My grandma had Parkison's and the pain she went through, medication or not, was huge. For someone to try to downplay those symptoms is sick.
36Al Franken said it best in his book *Rush Limbaugh is a Big, Fat Idiot.* Unfortunately, he is also very smart and seems to always land on his feet. If only he would use his intelligence for good and not evil.
37right on TallTJ
38does it matter if MJF was on his medication or not? he wants to show everyone how horrible parkinson's is. not being on your meds is a good way to do it. it is a very good thing what MJF is doing, he's raising awareness and advocating research for a cure for not only parkinson's disease but all sorts of diseases.
39I saw this on the news this morning and it made me so mad and very sad. I hope Rush develops some awful disease and then we can all sit around and make fun of him and tell him he's faking it. Jerk.
40Whether he was exagerating or not it doesnt matter he has this disease and he can live with it and choose to promote people who help fund it any way he sees fit. If someone asked me to appear in an ad sans my fake eye because it would help fund full eyeball transplants BY ALL MEANS ID DO IT! Its my disablilty and if anyone doesnt like it then they can kiss my ass and should go to hell imo for shunning it!
41--------------------
The baby in my belly made me do it I swear.
But Rush has been proven an *sshole b4 though right so what else would we expect from scum

The baby in my belly made me do it I swear.
I totally agree bluejeanie. Going off your medication to show the true horror of a disease is commendable, if anything. And its not as if he isn't up front about what he's doing.
Rush is an idiot who loves to get everybody riled up. If I wasn't so mad about this, I wouldn't allow myself to give him the satisfaction.
P.S. Rush claims to have a listening audience of 3 million people. He's probably lieing. But, even if its true, that is a small fraction of right leaning people in this country. Please stop pretending he represents everybody left of center.
43Um, that would be right* of center. Der.
And that P.S. wasn't directed at anybody specific. FYI.
44As someone who lives with a Parkinson's sufferer (my father) I can tell you that it ABSOLUTELY makes a difference if someone is on their medication or not. Almost all of the visible symptoms can be controlled with medication, and Rush's point is that he is exploiting his illness by appearing without his medication, a point which is validated by DesignRChick's post about crying while watching the video. Yes, Parkinson's is horrible, yes, it is good to raise awareness, but he's using a shock tactic and appealing to emotion rather than reason.
Please note that I am not a Republican, not a fan or Rush's, and am in favor of stem-cell research, the thing that MJF is advocating.
45Nods to Jen
46ITs like saying imo a kemo patient needs to wear a wig bc going bald shows what its really like or asking for pity

What about the people that CAN"T AFFORD MEDICATION?
Shouldn't Americans have a REAL understanding of the full effects of the disease? Not all men are as wealthy as Mr. Fox, and I think he is showing a reality that most people don't understand about a disease that is actually increasing.
He didn't lie, he didn't exaggerate. He showed the reality of the disease and what people have to fight against. Yes, there are many ways to help LESSEN the effects of the disease, but there is no cure by any means.
47Carebear144 - yes, he is using a shock tactic. Unfortunately, I think it takes this type of tactic to get through to most people. If he appeared in the ad medicated, some people would think that he is fine and the stem cell research he is fighting for isn't really needed. Just my thoughts....
48i hadn't even thought about all the people he's representing who can't afford medication. rush is just sick. sick, sick, sick.
49Carebear, Limbaugh was saying that the movements themselves were FAKED. That Fox was doing it deliberately (and that, even off medication, the movements wouldn't be so severe unless they were purposely exaggerated). What kind of idiot says garbage like that?
If anything, the commercial represents the insidiousness of the illness. That was the whole point in the first place. The direct approach is often the most successful one.
