Madonna turns 49 today, and we just wanted to wish a very Happy Birthday to one of our favorite icons. Madonna will always have a special place in our hearts from dressing up like her when we were a little girl to giving birth to Katie right after her concert. Madge has lasted throughout the years and transformed herself over and over again. She's such an inspiration as a successful working woman, mother, and musician. Happy Birthday to a truly spectacular woman who always keeps us interested in what she's doing next.

I had a video of her Like a Virgin concert when I was little and I knew every word and every dance move, I nearly wore the tape out! I don't know what ever happened to mine but I borrowed my friends copy a year or two ago and it was such a nostalgia trip! My favourite bit is an interview at the end where she's saying how she wanted to sing, she wanted to dance, she wanted to be a star "So I worked really hard and my dream came true", and seeing that made me remember why she's always been such an inspiration to me! These days girls think they can make a sex tape and flash their vagina and their dream came true... they don't have anyone as strong as her to look up to, it's a real shame!

I h ave been a fan of Madonna since Borderline. I was one of those little kids who would have a belly bearing top on singing Like a Virgin at age 10. Those were the days!
She looks incredible for 49. She is starting to show her age a little in her face, but her body is amazing. I wish I could look that good now!
28Madonna somehow always manages to be provocative. But what I most admire about her is her work ethic and belief in herself. When I look at her career, she has been the master of her destiny whether or not others have "approved" of her. That and her commitment to getting the job done rather than being pure tabloid fodder distinguishes her from the rest of the pack. I can't say Madge hasn't enjoyed her time in the limelight or the ego that comes with it but she's made it work for her, come what may. Younger aspirants need to take note, Madonna showed up and was ready to work and to push herself to be better - she wasn't just pap feed.

30Wow, I can't believe Madonna's 49 already! I remember when she was just starting out, along with the birth of MTV. Back in the "old" days, I remember it was a REALLY big deal when a new Madonna video premiered.

44I don't like Madonna but you have to admit she is an amazing woman. Not only is she an 80's icon, but she has been able to stay in the public eye despite her so-so voice and horrible acting. She started her career with shocking people and has somehow kept the public's interest. She obviously takes care of herself through exercise but she has definitely had work done. Her nose is beginning to look like a beak. I believe she is keeping her teeth looking like that so people can think that she hasn't had any plastic surgery. Amazing woman indeed.
