David Letterman made a fairly explosive admission on his show tonight. He came clean about affairs he had with female employees and a recent extortion plot to bring it all out into the open. He got the police involved and an arrest was made today of the man who tried to get $2 million from Dave to keep quiet. The segment is super awkward since it doesn't seem like the audience knows that he's being serious and he does crack jokes throughout. The whole thing seems a bit out of nowhere, but then again there's so much celebrity scandal these days it's getting harder to actually expect anyone famous is totally squeaky clean. Check out the whole clip him talking about it below and tell us, is David Letterman admitting to affairs and the extortion plot surprising or not so much?

YUCK
Letterman is a scumbag and he's too old to be having sex. Keep your body to yourself you old creep.
1It's really not that scandalous. I mean millions of people have office or work affairs...how is this any different? I just feel bad that he's had to go public with this...we at least have the luxury of keeping our affairs contained.
2This is clearly stuff that has happened over the years and so not worth making a big deal about. People need to lighten up!
3The guy says that he had sex with women in his office and people applaud?! This is creepy. I bet his wife is very excited as well.
4Go David.. Obviously his pecker is in good working condition
5He's always seemed a bit skeezy...so no real surprise.
6no surprises he has always come across to me as Smarmy.
7yuck
8I'm not going to applaud him for having had affairs, of course this is a bad thing to do, but I've gotta give kudos to him for having the guts to come clean about it on national TV, most guys would deny it and swear they've done nothing for years and years to come (I should know, my dad is one of these guys), let's just hope it gives him a lesson and that him and his wife can work it out.
9All in all, blackmail is just wrong, no matter how bad the things the person being blackmailed has done are.
well not that I condone it, since he was probably dating his now wife, but seriously good for him for just admitting to it, and saying that he did do the right thing which is contact authorities. I think I am more surprised he talked about it on his show. Hopefully that is the end of it hearing about it from him. if not then I will change my opinion
10Do we know if these are recent affairs or not? I guess he was dating his wife for a long time, so I'm sure it was during their relationship.
11Of course I'm not surprised... anyone who makes jokes about teenagers getting "knocked up" by Alex Rodriguez isn't exactly a high-moral guy. Makes me laugh how he smacked down Mark Sanford about affairs yet he himself was having them behind the back of his longtime girlfriend/wife. Letterman is a complete scumbag and hypocrite. Oh and the anon saying he's too old to have sex is a complete idiot
12The only people that need to know are the ones that need to know.
13Good for him for admitting it. Most creeps don't and blame everyone else but themselves. Isn't this what we pay all Hollywood to do, entertain us with their crap. Also, is there a man walking this earth who has not had an affair?
14I agree with the people who applaud him for coming clean about it. I am glad I wasn't in that audience, though, because it would be very uncomfortable. None of this is funny, but they're all applauding and laughing about it.
15Hm.Letterman is applauded for sleeping with a lot of women(many behind his girlfriend/wife back)and yet Jude Law is reviled when he does it. Poor guy should have been a comedian then people would have just laughed at it.
16Nobody said it was a lot of women. He refers to it as plural, but it's already coming out that it was his assistant, years ago, before he was a parent or married. Perhaps there are more.
He's usually pretty private about his personal life, so who knows what the status of his relationship with his now-wife was several years ago.
17Please. It is a well known secret that he sleeps with his women staffers. How many of those were consensual and how many who were afraid they would lose their job if they don't put out?
He's always beena sleaze.
18Nothing surprises me, ever
19I believe that this story with all details (for example that he was cheating on his wife at some point) could haven been told worse.
20Really surprised. Stuff like this is always kind of shocking to me. Not sure why(?).
21I support Dave. I can't say I'm thrilled if he had affairs while married but that's none of my business, and I support him because he has more than enough money to have made his life easy, and instead, he flipped the bird to his blackmailer and said basically if anyone's gonna tell this story it'll be me. Also, he could've had the guy arrested and said "i never had affairs but he was going to try to say I did" Instead, he DID admit to his affairs. Compare him to most types in hollywood and he seems a little more decent than most.
22He's had this rep since he started 'showbiz' on the radio and as a weatherman. I'd say props for coming clean, but he only did because of the money, I bet.
23He is a douche for no matter what he did he feels that he is beyond reproach. Not quite, the man is a looser of the highest caliber. Don't throw stones if you live in a glass house. Stupid idiot.
24The only real scandal here is that he was blackmailed and threatened. It always amazes me to learn how low people will stoop to make a quick buck. I'm not condoning his behavior but at least he had the balls to acknowledge and confront...in front of the entire planet nonetheless.
25I think dave has had a pretty skeeezy rep for a while now. i am not quite sure why the media keeps labeling him as a poor victim...yes, some douche was trying to extort money out of him, but really?? people are applauding him for having sex with his co workers?awkward!
26I love him. Why do you guys care where he sticks his willy? Was he unfaithful to you? He still makes me laugh. Miles Davis and John Lennon where both physically abusive but it doesn't make their music any less wonderful. I feel bad that he was forced to tell everyone but it's really funny that the freak trying to blackmail him has jack sh*t to go on now.
27(a) You can't have an "affair" if you are not married or not in a committed relationship. All of you "affairs are gross and wrong!" people get over yourselves. From 1978 until his recent marriage this year, DAVID LETTERMAN WAS SINGLE. The only person with room to complain is his now wife and since she's staying mum...
(b) One day (hopefully) you will all be "old" ladies (or men if there are dudes complaining here) and will still want to have sex. Again, get over yourselves.
(c) I notice that NONE OF THE LOVERS are coming forward to complain. Hm. Maybe that means there was no problem(s) with the myriad relationships in which he engaged. If they're not complaining, and the wife's not complaining and the production company (the legal entity likely responsible for paying any damages) isn't complaining... Well, then, who cares?
28The media is labeling him a victim because he *is* a victim - of an attempted extortion. Any time you are the target of a crime, you are - legally, definitionally - A VICTIM. Now you people are just being dumb for the sake of having something to say.
29I agree with most this is not a big deal. It wasn't an issue until that guy tried to profit off of the incident(s). I don't see any one involved complaining. He fessed up to protect those involved and his family. Let's move on folks. He still makes me laugh and I actually adore him for exposing that guy.
30Good for him that he is honest. But i really don't like how the audience laughs and applauds at inappropriate times.
