Matt Damon is looking younger and better than ever these days while promoting The Bourne Ultimatum overseas in Berlin, but the actor was recently joking about how fatherhood has made him out of shape. He spoke about how he used to work all day and head to the gym at night since he had no reason to get home. Isabella is 14 months old and his whole life has changed as he rushes home now to see his girls before they go to bed. He said:
"I've had the same personal trainer on all the Bourne films but once he left this time, that was it for me and working out because I wanted to get home to see my daughter before she went to sleep.... Towards the end of filming they had to shoot around my belly," Damon jokes. "If you pay close attention you'll see the zipper on my jacket creeping up and up. I had to keep that jacket on."
"Halfway through the movie [director] Paul Greengrass looked at me and said, 'You look terrible,' " says Damon. "I told him, 'I'm sorry. I'm awake all night with the baby,' to which he said, 'No, it's really good. She came along just at the right time – she's really helping your performance,' "
We love that Matt has turned into such a family man. We were always a big fan of him as a fabulous actor but this version makes him even sexier!

27I know, I post this every time there's another "isn't matt damon a great dad" post, but I'm just surprised that no one else picks up on it...
In all these wonderful interview quotes about Isabella, he NEVER, and literally NEVER, mentions his 7 year old step daughter. Like what is she - chopped liver? Obviously she lives with them, but it just bothers me that he doesn't talk as if she's his daughter. I know she has a biological dad, but step parents/step children can become some of the most rewarding relationships.

29girlfriday -- interesting point. I forgot he even had a step-daughter, and I can totally see what you're saying. On the other hand, I had a step-father growing up and wasn't at all interested in him claiming me as his daughter, since I had a father. I thought of my step-dad more as my mom's husband than anything else... Definitely something to think about though!

38lhomey, I guess you're right - it's different for everyone. I was almost exactly Alexa's age when my mom got remarried and my step dad was just amazing. I saw my bio-dad at least once a week, but still, i was with my step dad every day and my realtionship with him is one of the most important of my life. I'm also really lucky because he is an amazing man, whereas my bio-dad has been inconsistent at best.
The best part was that he treated me like his own - and it really made an impact on me. I was never seen as second best, even though he had a biological daughter too. To this day, I tell people I have 2 dads.
