I am all for this. She may not be outright abusing her children, but she is guilty of neglecting them and putting them in harmful situations, which could be abuse. I hope she gets what she deserves.

I don't think anything they have released so far would be considered child abuse...which makes me think that there must be details that we don't know about. They won't open an investigation for just anything.

If the allegations that have been brought up in the media are in question in the hearing, (soda in bottles, not changing diapers, handling cigarettes or alcohol, etc.) it makes complete sense the child protective services would be investigating. I’m pretty sure that in ANY case where someone(the other parent) is trying to show someone else an unfit or neglectful parent(not to mention actual physical abuse) they HAVE to investigate. But there is no news here. I think since Britney hasn’t been doing anything much the past two weeks, bloggers are getting bored! Also, NO she is not an abusive mother. In my opinion. Maybe we should look at case profiles of REAL abusive parents and then everyone will know the difference.

Wow. That's deep. Honestly, I find Brit's behavior more neglectful than abusive. Well, except for the carseat thing...that was abusive considering her kid could have died if they were in an accident. I just think child abuse is a strong accusation. For me, it implies she's physically hurting her kids, you know? And I don't really see Brit doing that. Leaving them with a nanny so she can party all night is different than striking them or causing bodily harm.

In Allure a psychologist suggested that she's bipolar, since she's so impulsive and does all these random things, do you guys think she is?

fashionstar, I definetely think she is. A member of my fam is bipolar, and her erradic and impulsive behavior is indicative and very similar to them without meds.

"Real" Abusive parents?...no matter the level, abuse is abuse is abuse!!! Brit needs to grow up. I had a child when I was 19 years old, and I am a lot more mature than she is. Those children need a mother, not a party girl. I'm not saying that since she is a mom she can't have fun, she just has to learn there are more important things in life than what she is doing.

Legally, "abuse" doesn't refer only to beating, molesting, verbal abuse and so on. There's no reason to think she's ever been violent or actively abusive, as such, to her kids. But a child abuse investigation could be triggered by concerns that she's done things like used drugs around her kids, been very drunk when she's the only responsible adult around (getting pissed out of your skull if there's a nanny to take care of them isn't negligent), had sex in front of them, and so on, all of which I can, unfortunately, easily imagine happening.

Diimp the psychologist didn't examine Brit, it was just an opinion piece for the article, so I have no idea whether or not she's sought counseling or therapy, but from the looks of it no. So I doubt she's been officially diagnosed as bipolar and given any meds.

But if she is bipolar has she been this way the whole time, or can the disease just crop up out of nowhere. She didn't act like this when she first became famous, so I'm really confused.

i feel like she's really on a scary path.. it's like how much can she take of this, the more things happen, the worse she gets.. scary to think what her "rock bottom" might be.. and really sad for the kids involved.

I have no pity for her either. I'm really sick of seeing and hearing Brit, Brit, Brit. I'm surprised it has taken them this long to investigate her in general with regard to her lack of parenting. It's sad but she has been given so many chances and she had so many people wanting to help her. You can't help a person who doesn't want to help themself.

I think that she's that unstable and reckless in public she has to be a bigger mess in private, and I don't think she would intentionally be a bad mom if she was more mentally stable, but for the time being she doesn't seem healthy so they probably would be better off with K-Fed for awhile, at least until she really gets her life in order. Because if not those kids will grow up to be a mess like her.

When it comes to children, they will open an investigation for almost nothing. Which is great to ensure that children are safe, but I doubt anything will come of this.

I don't know what the heck In the Zone's talking about, would you want her as your parent? I don't think she's the worst parent ever but she's certainly not the greatest.

Jillness, I agree that what the public has witnessed is probably the tip of the iceberg, and that no one really knows how she treats her children behind closed doors. For their sake I really hope that it's not true, but I don't think a determination can be made without knowing the facts.

If Britney does have a mental disorder, she'll never have it treated because she's so damn stubborn and seems to close everyone who wants the best for her out of her life.

She no doubt needs medication of some sort, but it'll never happen. I think she'll always be out of control.

To the people who say the media blows things out of proportion, the LA Department of Children and Family Services does NOT make it's decisions based on the media.

Obviously there is something far greater than giving them soda. LADCFS doesn't have time for insignificant cases, and they do not conduct an investigation for every custody hearing.

Some people are very gulible when it comes to their favorite stars, but you think they could put that aside for something as serious as child abuse.
