Madonna is evidently sparing no expense on her new baby David. Between promoting her new children's book, and doing the talk show circuit to discuss her recent adoption, she's somehow figured out a way to spend a small fortune on baby furniture and toys for David. Here's more:

MADONNA is building a safari-themed nursery for her adopted Malawian tot David Banda. She has ordered £15,000 of furniture for the 13-month-old’s room in her Los Angeles home.
It includes a £1,600 cot, £500 bedding and £1,300 changing table from trendy US kids’ store Petit Tresor.
A store insider said: “She bought a load of African-themed stuff.”
Whoever works at Petit Tresor has a big mouth. They are always blabbing about what celebs buy. I guess they do have some really cute stuff and clearly Madge wants David to have the best since she is spending almost $30,000. For more pics of Madonna in NYC just read more

As if David or any is going to be able to tell the difference with a 1600 pound cot? that money could have be spent elsewhere
1yeah i agree, shes prolly trying to show people how much she is spoiling david so we would like her better
2Imagine what her other children's rooms look like. I'm sure she's trying to treat them all equally.
3*any baby
4Nice cap.

David's going to grow up and be a giant rock star. Bet.
6There's a show here in Toronto on CBC called The Hour hosted by George Stroumboulopoulos (ex-Much Music VJ) where he posed the question, " is adopting a baby from Africa the new Von Dutch trucker hat?"... in the case of Madonna... I'm likely to say "yes". Who coordinates their baby's furniture with their baby's ethnicity? I think it's a tad cheesy... a baby isn't a pet and it's not a momentary sensation that will fade away either... I can't help but cringe every time I read about Madonna and David Banda.
7I just have issues with the fact that she went on a publicity tour to discuss her adoption of David. Be a mom and stop publicizing your every move. Damn, I can't stand her publicity ho ways.
8madonna's looking so haggard and fug lately....

I'm not full of Madonna love, but I don't get the hate here. She is getting slammed for adopting a baby? I kept saying she needed a new gig, and this is better than pissing off the Catholic church.

10I don't have a problem with that at all. In fact, I go the opposite way. I always think its sad to see a Korean baby adopted by Americans with a completely American name, totally American stuff, eating nothing but American food, etc... I think its nice to see her trying to incorporate his culture into thier lives.
11I;m not slamming her for adopting (even though I think the adoption was shady), I'm slamming her for treating the kid as a publicity tool.
12I'm more than willing to take 30,000 is she wants to give it to me!!
13Have I mentioned how much I hate these track suits?
14I am totally not a fan of Madonna's but its ridiculous for her to be getting this bad press b.cuz of adopting David.
I don't give a damn if the dad wanted him back or not. That poor little boy was in a shelter when Madonna found him...therefore, the Dad couldn't even take good care of him.
I know giving away my child would hurt me to my heart and my entire existence...but if an opportunity came for my child to have the best of everything (education, great life, material items, great food, etc) then I would willingly take up on the opportunity.
Sorry, but this is one of the best things Madonna has ever done...
15I don't think its a publicity stunt...I think it turned into one after the Dad pitched a public fit about wanting his son back...even though he signed the adoption papers!
Yeah he said he couldn't understand the papers...but why in thee hell would you sign something you could not understand? As for her skimming the adoption process...I believe we all have been publicly following Madonna's life since the 80s what doesn't the whole free world know about Madonna?
Why shouldn't she be able to adopt this kid? There are so many children who need good homes...but are in these shelters. I'm pretty sure everyone knows Madonna's resume...
16madonna isn't the one who made this statement though, someone else just wants to talk about her to the tabloids i think.
17I see you have the photos of Madonna attending the Kaballah Center. It's become such a media circus for the poor girl to attend prayer services for the cult, as it is the only time you will see Madonna. She usually has a stealth team of drivers that successfully eludes the paparazzi.
18I don't get why they don't adopt the truly orphaned children, and if they fall in love with these children with living parents why don't the help the whole family to have a better life, hell adopt a family.
19I don't think that designer painted jungle theme room is going to remind him of his village.
In her place, I'd feel really bad about spending more on the furniture in the baby's room than the father will probably earn in his whole life.
