Rihanna looked hot! I was so happy for her. She was a shoe in because "Umbrella" was everywhere this Summer.

She was def the high point in the show for me.

I have to say though, the best part about "VMA Weekend" was not the actual show, but Paris outing X-Tina's pregnancy. I literally laughed aloud when I heard that. It's so like her.

Eh, I didn't like the hotel performances either.

The hotel thing was annoying too distracting got confused at times. They should have only shown 3 hotel parties not keep going back.

Brit was awful but Chris Brown's performance was awesomes, he's adorable!

Britney was so off, I almost couldn't watch (but of course, I did! haha). I was hoping it would be a great way to come back, but uh.. she didn't pull it off. As for the hotel parties, I actually really liked it. There was tons of people performing & it was like a big ol' party, which I thought was cool. I loved how JT kept floating around. Maybe I'm biased.

The roster is soo lame. I mean Melissa Joan Heart. Love her, but didnt she just have a baby. They couldnt even get fergi there and she won an award. The best part of the night was Chris Brown! He was really great! And the hotel room parties were cool, but with all the fans in there, there was no one in the auditorium to cheer.

I've heard the Rihanna/Chris Brown "Umbrella-Remix" (you know the duet) so often. Why didn't they perform it then when they were already together on stage?
No complains about that performance though.

Britney's hair gives me the creeps. I can get better extensions in my tiny hometown. Yuck!!!!

Brittney didn’t disappoint me, I was HOPING she would bomb, and boy did she ever! I loved Sarah Silverman’s jokes, although biting, were so freaking funny. Hopefully this will kill big old brit-brits comeback.
As for the other performances, I thought the “party rooms” were fun, different, although repetitive and quickly old. Most of the people standing around were shoving for the spotlight or just looked confused. I wanted someone to reach over to Kanye and RIP those ridiculous sunglasses off.

i am like justin timberlake, when i saw chris brown's performance i said, "daaammmnnn" i enjoyed seeing justin as well. i am wishin i coulda been at justin's or kayne's party, but i cant decide if i like the suite party idea or not, i mean it's like they weren't really at the awards.

I knew Britney was going to be bad, but I didn't think she was going to be that bad. Why did they start with focusing on her nappy hair, and why did she wear that outfit???

I thought that Linkin Park did a great job (dispite the singer having a blown out voice), I thought that Justin and Alicia Keys did great jobs as well. I really liked Rhianna's performances, and I love the fact that she sings live.

Brit was terrible, and it was all because she didn't practice enough. The reason Chris Brown looked so awesome is because he worked his tooshie off on that dance for hours. I think it is completely amature and arrogant the way Brit slacked off in her preparation. Did she think brilliance was just going to fly out of her hung over butt?

I think she needs to remember that she is not supernatural, that yes, even "Britney Spears" needs to work at it.

The VMA's have been sucking for a while now, they have not been good since Diddy hosted in Miami. I dont even want to waste my words on that mess of Britney Spears, im so over her. The best was def. Chris Brown and Justin Timberlake.

Seriously, I haven't watched MTV for so long because all it basically shows are reality shows where people are vacant jerks who treat each other like crap and spend their parents' money on birthday parties! Call me "old-fashioned," but I loved when MTV showed videos, its only reality show was Real World /Road Rules, and the awards shows were fun and laid back. This year's show was manic, dark, confusing, and just blah.....Starting from the closeup of Britney's bad weave (was that necessary??) to random oddly-shot scenes of the suits, I just felt annoyed/bored the whole time....yuck! I feel old, in the words of Justin Timberlake

The top 3 performances were Chris Brown,Alicia Keys and Nicole Scherzinger. I'm sorry , but Rihanna didn't deliver to match up to Cris's performance.You can't get too comfty in this industry.. she was off key like at a karaoke bar,singing live and she just walked on stage..
I agree it seems that evryone was drugged up or something with those wild crowd parties..it's not only Timbaland, but Dr Dre came looking like Hulk with muscles bulging off his shoulders too!

He jabbed at Mtv for forgetting their purpose of showing Music videos, but the Quadruple award he won is also ridiculous. I don't think Britney looked bad- if anything, she looked better than she usually does! Obviously she's not going to be the svelte, slinky teen of her past after having two babies. Even her face looked nicer than it usually does- it looked more like the old Britney to me. So good job, whoever did her makeup. I agree she didn't need to go as bare as she did with her body. She is definitely not "fat" as people are implying, but she isn't in the perfect shape that she once was.

I'm not even a Britney fan so all this positive has drained me for at least another year.

The performance, on the other hand, was terrible. I detest the new song, and the fact that she couldn't even perform it made it worse.

I felt really bad for brit. she should have just had a really cute pixie cut, bleached it blond and covered up some. : (
On another note Alicia Keys RULED! I liked the performances, but they just felt like little snipets.

Yeah, like I wrote, I feel OLD! I'm 25 and I remember MTV being fun and laid back and not as snarky or music-less. Hell, the last time I watched TRL they only showed like, 5 seconds of the video. My girlfriends and I used to love watching the awards shows for the fun performances and celeb watching....This year had fights, egos, self-promotion, and lame performances. The only ones I really enjoyed (or even remember) were Chris Brown and Alicia Keyes!

I would best describe MTV as the friend you grew up with, and then as you mature...they just don't. MTV grew up with the 24-30 set. MTV had the college shows when I was in college...and then it just went backwards. Now with the latest trashy show: Tila Tequila...MTV has hit an all new low. It's going to be a prime orgyfest...and BOOO to MTV for giving SHAT like that a fighting chance!!!
