After promoting her new movie and supporting her man at the Toronto Film Festival, Charlize was back to work on the set of John Hancock in LA. Obviously Will isn't the only one who gets to be a big superhero in the movie - check out Charlize the strong woman lifting a truck! Charlize has been everywhere lately, from Belize to Venice and somehow managed to look pretty fabulous through it all. In this past issue of Parade, Charlize talks about babies and being wild. Here's more:
- “Getting pregnant doesn’t excite me, but having kids does. I know I’ll be a mother someday. It’s just that…I don’t really want to look like a whale, you know? But I’m sure the idea of something growing inside you is pretty powerful.”
- “I’m tired of political correctness,” she adds. “It’s like we’re sitting on this high horse or walking this really strict line every day. And I’m just like, ‘It is good to be wild and imaginative, and it is good to have an improper laugh. It’s good and it’s healthy.’ I am so blessed to be surrounded by people who agree with that.... I don’t want to be obnoxious, but I want to be truthful. I’m a very aware, observant human being. I think that’s why I’m an actor.”
Well we bet many of you don't think calling pregnant women whales is very politically correct but she does make a point about wanting to be less strict in life. Besides, we have a feeling Charlize would be a pretty gorgeous pregnant lady.

1Just depends on what SHE considers PC to be. Everyone I've met seems to have different opinions on what is "politically correct". Now, if she aimed this at the current crop of politicians I'd say brava, but I can't get fully behind this statement if it's aimed vaguely.

32i completely agree with charlize. i love children, i want children, but being pregnant just looks SO amazingly uncomfortable, almost painful even (ie. bridget moynahan, naomi watts) and alien-esque. only rarely does it look "beautiful". it's a matter of opinion. it doesn't make her a bad person.
33i'm sick of constantly having to be afraid of offending someone. people need to chill out. i have professors biting their tongue to be "pc" and having to sacrifice being absolutely truthful and effective. it angers me. and pregnant women do look like whales. i think being a mother is beautiful, not pregnancy.
34Well, I can understand her comments about pregnancy given that she is a celebrity. I have seen how we critique anyone once they get pregnant. "She is huge," is often a comment I hear when a woman gets to be past 6 or 7 months. Having the whole country write in blogs and message boards about the state of one's stomach size wouldn't be any fun.

After bearing two boys, I have earned the right to say that motherhood requires more depth, patience, and character than that superficial actress could ever muster for whatever role. Even a whale.
