Suri is finally wearing a coat! Now if only Katie could convince her that wearing open heels in the rain is not a good idea. Yeah, I'm nitpicking - but I can never get over the outfits this child is allowed to wear.

She may be wearing a coat but look closer--she is still rain-soaked and looks freezing.

Strappy heels. On a toddler. Walking on a rain slicked sidewalk. Guess it doesn't take a lot of brains to be Katie Holmes.

ok i've finally reailzed it, this woman is pure EVIL. her daughter almost never has a coat (in this one she does), but she almost never does, is ALWAYS inappropriately dressed for the weather, it'll be freezing outside, and she's wearing some dress, where her arms or legs are not covered. BUT THIS just proves it. her mother is UNDER THE UMBRELLA, and her daughter is SOAKING IN THE RAIN.

I understand wanting to let your child express themselves, but at some point you have to put your foot down and tell them "I said NO!".

Okay, I usually try to be nice and see everything from the best possible light (like maybe there's a car and driver somewhere close by) but come on! What the heck is she wearing on her feet?!

Why is it Katie always has her feet and body covered (coat) and Suri doesn't? I think she needs parenting lessons--no socks, open toes, heels on a toddler in the rain yet!?! Come on.

Before I was a Mom, I would have said some of the same things most of the comments above have said. However, now that I'm a Mom I can understand some of the outfits Suri has on from time to time. She could be a very strong minded little girl and sometimes it's easier to get out of the house by letting them wear what they want.

I love Anon #6's comment about "putting your foot down and tell them NO!". Much easier said than done, my dear!

Some dumb comments are pathetic and its base on zero facts of this wonderful parents and happy baby.

First, Suri is NOT a baby. Second, heels are totally inappropriate for a child unless they are playing dress up. Scientologists make for bad parents. They believe a child is really an adult in a small body and that one never says NO to a child because of some negative energy crap.

#12 -- I think you're missing the point entirely. It's about more than wardrobe choices to make life easier on yourself and letting your kid wear what she wants. It's about those wardrobe choices in inappropriate weather. Would you really let your daughter go out in cold, chilly, wet weather without a coat and in open toe shoes?

I don't get it. Child - heels? And heels - rain? There is no logical connection at all!!! Children can not wear high heels, it's not for their tiny feet and their spine! And having bare feet in the rain is not such a good idea either ... And saying no to a child in a situation like this would be the only appropriate thing to do. you people worry too much. Suri probably walks from the car to the shop...very little distance. i am sure they don't walk kilometers in rain. pap agencies only release the photos which they believe will cause a stir among judgy mothers like yourself. its a business and you make them a lot of money. more concerned comments judging Ketie's motherly skills=more money. its quite funny watching you get agitated over something so minor.

While I agree that the shoes are inappropriate for the cold and rain. I don't think she is soaked. I think the coat has a shiny finish. Look at her hair it's not soaking wet. I think it would be impossible for the coat to get that wet and still have dry hair.

One photo does not show the entire event and atmosphere or lives of people. Im sure what we cant see are paps and people around hounding them. What's important this family tries to live their lives normally even with the media all over them and Suri seems like a happy child. All kids are unique and different so stop all the lectures and expertise.
Just because a child has all the warm gears does not mean their home is perfect.

That ridiculous movie "First Daughter" was on cable over the weekend and I was reminded that Katie Holmes used to not look like a robot.

The coat is absolutely soaked. That's not a shiny finish--the fabric is clearly stained a darker color from the rain. And her hair also looks wet. She is hunching her shoulders and trying to cover Elmo, the sidewalks are wet and it's CLEARLY raining on her. Open your eyes!

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise are two of the dumbest and most narcissistic celebrities in all of Hollywood so it's no small wonder they'd want their daughter to look "cute" for the staged photo ops than to have to worry about her well being.

i have never thought about the thing which #14 said....it's guite logical with all tha ways we've seen suri being dressed and the way she seems to act.but come on katie,this is your firstborn child,do you really have to listen this stupid religion about the way you raise you daughter.......i really don't thing taht some people in hollywood thing logically....

No it is not, I am a mother also, and sometimes being a good parent means saying "no".

Exactly, No 33. It's actually part of a parent's job to know when and how to say "no" to their children--at least it's part of a GOOD parent's job. Kids need structure and discipline at least to some small degree and this child seems to have none at all.

She lives her life in unfamiliar cities and in strange hotels according to her parent's filming schedules and personal appearances. She seems to exist on a diet of frosted treats, doesn't appear to be socialized enough to play with other children her own age, sucks on an infant nurser bottle yet wears high heels. And we're supposed to think Tom and Katie are great celebrity parents because... they dress her in pretty party dresses for her photo ops ???

It makes me so angry that they seem to have no concern for their child's safety. She could look just as cute in some wellies or sneakers AND be safe! (Not that the cute part even matters, but that seems to be ALL that matters to her moron parents.)

Its obvious Suri is the world of Tom and Katie. They are great parents in this celebritydom and still way better than many famous families.I dont see the flaws but I look beyond that and see a loving and joyful family.

Secondly, this was not the only picture I saw. A few other sites had the picture up and her hair was not soaked in them.

I never said that the coat wasn't soaked I said it was possible that the coat had a shiny finish. I can see that it's CLEARLY raining.

I cant believe I am responding to any of these comments but here goes...now say it with me people....who cares? Seriously? Take a walk through any mall or down any street and you will see far worse examples of neglect, or abuse(?) or what ever you want to call it. So one Hollywood family lets there kid make dumb decisions? Maybe they are using the age old psychology of letting them make bad decisions so that they actually learn something. Don't get me wrong, I am not defending Scientology or Tom and Katie but come on. The kid got a little wet and maybe had a crappy day because of it. Maybe next time Katie says "wear your boots" Suri will remember how crap it went last time. Or maybe not. Now lets turn our attention to the real evils of Scientology shall we?

I don't think we should judge her mothering skills nor call her a bad parent by seeing ONE picture! I'm sure they were not walking far enough for this to effect Suri in anyway by causing her to "be sick". As a MOTHER (not sure most of you are at all) she's not going to risk her child's health and that's ridiculous to say that about anyone without a few more facts!
