Jessica Simpson has never been shy about branching out and taking on new ventures. We've seen her acting and designing, but it really all started with pop. It looks like Jess is ready to focus on her singing career again, but now she wants to give country music a try. Joe Simpson told People that Jessica is "talking about doing a country record and going back to her roots, being from Texas." She's had hit pop albums in the past but what do you think- can Jessica be a country music success?

I definitely think she can do it. She's always struck me as a country singer anyway.
1wah???? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. please stay away from country, i beg you, Jessica.
2i dont know why-but this strikes me as a little girl just desperate to fit in somewhere. pathetic, sad...
3Stick to dressing half naked Jessica.
4I like some of her music and would be very interested in this album frankly who cares if it does good or not.
5Why not give things a try, everyone should be able to see what they can and can't do
stars are no different
""i dont know why-but this strikes me as a little girl just desperate to fit in somewhere. pathetic, sad""
how so?
6She fails in pop music, so she just *might* do okay in country.
7other~ I have no idea!
8uh... who cares? We have enough male country singers, go away manny simpson!
9"She's had hit pop albums in the past..."
I did NOT know that! Well,
maybe she just didn't make it over the Atlantic's....
10Dear God
11nay
12I agree with BabyLIL! I bet she just has seen Carrie Underwood's success and is like -- "I want!"
13anything to make her more money.....hm....greedy?
14God no, she has only ever made money from commercial endoresements. She wants to copy Carrie Underwood now, but it will fail like her attempts to be Britney Spears (before she became a disaster) did. She should show some mercy and just "retire."
15She does not have a great voice, but she is a good performer. I think she may do well in country with sexy videos and if she has a song with a great hook. Her voice is not nearly as strong as many country stars, so she'll have to get lucky with a big hit.
16I think she can pull if off .
17I think she definitely has potential. If she gets the right team to work with then I think she can succeed.
18God, are you kidding? She's just desperate for attention since she's failed at everything she's done. She started in Gospel, not Pop. That's why she dropped out of high school to finish her album. Just shows how stupid she is. I'm sure she'll cover Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton songs
19just like she did with her other albums. I was a fan but now I consider her shallow and pathetic.
Hell no!
20I thought she had a great voice when I wanna love you forever came out, and Angels. Then I got an un-produced copy of her singing 'A whole new world' with Nick, and she was horrible. You can tell she has a good voice somewhere in there, but it was covered up by all this little girl breathing and baby voice crap. She was over singing a lot, too. If someone sits her down and tells her that the baby voice isn't sexy, and you don't have to over pronounce everything, I think it will be good. Nick definitely has the better voice, though...
21maybe but she won't be Carrie Underwood!
22i agree with babylil. i've always seen jessica like a lost girl who doesn't know what she wants so papa joe directs her on where to go.
23It would probably be good for her to "go back to her roots" but I don't think it will do much for her. I'm getting a little sick of all of these comeback attempts.
24I think she can be successful as a country singer. It will probably be a better fit than "pop star" for her.
25You mean after she was sooooooo successful singing 9 to 5 at the Dolly Parton tribute??
I think it is time for Jessica's to hang up her vocal cords and call it day. Literrally.. please Jessica become a mute and pump your face so full of lip plumper collagen and botox that you can't make your assinine facial features and then kindly dissappear into oblivion.. or something.
26Didn't she have her beginning in Christian music?
27Anyhoo, she's taken a very nice singing voice and ruined it with a bunch of goofy-sounding enhancements. Country music is so over-the-top, I'm sure Daddy Joe thinks she'll fit right in in her Daisy Dukes and open button-downs. She'll wail and warble and lampoon country music in the worst way.
Joe desperately needs a hit...anywhere. Apparently he has even less talent than his daughters, or HE would be the one in the spotlight.
LOL--
28could care less
29would never buy it
so
NEXT
Oh my gosh! This made my day...two of my very favorite things...together - country music and JSimp. Amazing.
30....i really dont care tbh...
31well her acting career stinks, her designer career is so- so, her pop career is ok... i think she's just trying hard to be good at something. Maybe she'll do good in country music, but I don't think she'll do that good since we already have Carrie Underwood.
32hell yeah! do what you know, y'all! anything to keep her from acting.
33she wont gain anymore fans. her same fans will buy the album... and yes, i agree...anything to keep her from acting.
34i like JS she is amazing and successful in everything (acting, singing, designing )and she's got a great voice n i think country songs suites her better.
35It's not a question of vocal ability--- Jess can sing and all--- but whether she can bring any of her life experience, any soul at all, really-- to her performance. If so, she could totally make it in country. But somehow I doubt it.
36She has a great voice but her stuff always seems kind of cheesy. I think she should stick to those shoes she's been putting her name on because they're cute. But Singing and country at that? I mean everybody seems to forget she can sing because noone likes to take her seriously, what makes her think THIS is going to work?
37cute pic of her.
38yes! i hope she does it and does it right.
39I think the dukes of hazzard ruined her. Most people loved her until she sold out and shimmied around in a bikini. She was different because she was a 'good girl', then turned into a Britney and Christina clone.
40Well YES!
41With a great song writer she can do it.
Good luck to her.
I think that the public views her as a poser who'll do anything to be rich and famous so I don't think this will work. There are artists who experiment with their sound like Outkast, Prince, and even Justin Timberlake and they do it because they're very creative and are evolving as artists, but she's not turning to country because she's really into it, she's turning to country because her last album didn't sell and she needs a hit badly. I think everyone can see through that and she'll have another flop on her hands.
42I think she could have some success with country music! She really has a great voice when she is not oversinging. I would buy it!
43Country stars are notorious for dressing tacky. I wonder how she'll fit in with that??
44I definitely think it would suit her more than the whole pop princess thing, which always seemed forced. She's more country than rock 'n roll, for sure!
45I like some of her stuff, but I can't see her doing country very well. I've heard attempts country singers had trying to go pop, so I'm picturing something about the same. Shania Twain tried to go that route, right before she kinda dropped off the face of the planet. So maybe it'll be the same for Jessica?
46
47She comes across as a southern gal to me BUT I don't think she's going to have the success she's probably looking for. I'm thinking she's hoping to be the best Dolly but I don't see that happening any time soon.
48best = next. Oops!
49I actually think I'd like her better as a country star!
