It's official — all that promotion paid off! Summit Entertainment just released the news that New Moon had the biggest midnight opening of all time, raking in an estimated $26.27 million last night! It beat out Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince as well as The Dark Knight. Congratulations to Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, and the rest of the cast — well-deserved partying indeed. Check out our PSR video review here as well as what Buzz thought about the movie and tell us how you liked it in the comments!

So what percentage of that goes to Pop with all of the coverage on this site
1Wow, it is absolutely terrible that this movie beat The Dark Knight's record.
2i'm totally nOT surprised at all about this - and i think that it's great. there's so much fanfare around the movie - so congrats to them. i wonder how it'll rank for the opening weekend given that it's not a holiday weekend. think about all the movies that opened on wed or thurs rather than on a friday like this one. i'm sure that it'll still doing really really well.
3I saw the Midnight showing last night with my hubby (poor guy- had to endure screams of tweens) and the funny part is that he actually got into it. Hehe. I think it's so much more fun to see midnight openings esp. if you are a big fan the atmosphere, IMO, is just better. Fun times. Congrats to all involved in the film. I loved it!
ps the only thing that p-ed me off abt the film was that, having seen all this coverage on Popsugar, i.e. all of Kristen Stewarts interviews and whatnot, I can say that she really does not act well as Bella because, to me, she is just playing herself... oh well.
4No surprise there! The theater where I went was cram packed and that was two and a half hours early too, I couldn't even move an inch! It was well worth it though! Congrats to the cast!!
5No surprise. You got beat to death with all the New Moon publicity. I'm glad when this hype is over.
6whoopee? good for them? post #4 today.
7meh, give it a week and it'll tumble. It's how teeny movies work. same with high school musical.
8I am not surprised!!! I am very happy for Rob, Kristen and Taylor!! Good job
Can't wait for Sunday, when I will be watching the movie
:)
9You mean thanks to the directors, producers, movie studio, and marketers of the film. Actors are important of, I mean they ACT the story but without everyone else there would be no story to tell and no distribution of that story.
However, POP doesn't care about movies they like teenybopping and celebs MUCH MORE.
I shouldn't be surprised Molly always liked gossip sites and that's what this site is and always has been. It's just turning me off more because instead of being fun and good they dwell on the dumbest of things or have the most poorly constructed threads and ideas.
10Thats freaken awesome, but you had to except that they would make it so high!!! I can't wait to see it Saturday and Sunday.
11hey downers, if you just want to complain about twilight & new moon, go complain somewhere else?
this is awesome!
12@12, I agree!!
13@Princess Giggles, and don't forget Friday too, they're only showing the midnight gross.
14Woo hoo I was at the midnight screening it was great!!
15Congrats to all the cast!!! I saw it last night and loved it! Cant wait to watch it again
16LMAO, so Robert Patterson is the biggest new star in Hollywood, eclipsing Meagan Fox, Zac Effron, Miley, etc. Part of why lot's of people watched it was just to see him, and this movie is record shattering.
I know that infuriates you haters. LOL!!!!!
17stupid spell check...I mean PATTINSON**
18All that promotion and I don't even know the movie came out last night...
19@ #10 if its so bad then why are you still here?
20I think they would of had the same success even if they didn't promote the movie as much.
21I went this morning at 9:30 and was in a theater with about 50 other mothers and wives (I am 30 and think I was the youngest one there).
I live in a smaller town and there were 1,200 people that appeared at my local theater for the midnight showing! The 2 evening showings for tonight were already sold out as of 9 am this morning so there is no doubt in my mind that this movie will break more records after today and even this weekend.
This movie Was AWESOME! I Already saw it two times opening day and if it weren't sold out I would have seen it again!!! LOVED IT! Everyone go see it!!
22The Twilight Saga has a massive fan base here in the Philippines, and I am certainly one of those who hesitantly picked up the Twilight book out of mere curiosity -- only to later on find myself enjoying every bit of the saga. New Moon the movie is well crafted. The book in itself had awkward parts --- but Chris Weitz did a stellar job capturing the key points into the movie. Taylor showcased his acting chops big time --- my heart went out to him specially during the part when he was begging Bella to stay in Forks. Rob might have had on about 36 mins of exposure in the movie, but every second of which was exhilarating --- the amount of acting (no matter how brief) was impressive --- specially during the scenes with the Volturi. Even Kirsten -- before seeing the film, I was actually wondering how she can do justice to the character Bella(considering that Bella in New Moon is utterly devastated through and through which will require a lot of heavy dramatic acting) ---but Kirsten pulled through and am actually surprised to find out that she has that dramatic acting potential in her. There are only 2 things that would have made scenes more compelling for me1) For Bella to actually cry with tears and all when she mourns for her loss(there were screaming and sobbing, but what could have tied it all together is the presence of tears); 2) and also for the vampires to actually have fangs (after all this is a vampire movie) -- that would have made them look more formidable and fearsome. Over-all though great movie. Will definitely go see it again.
23@Kathy and Rax, very well said!!!
24I can truthfully say i completely entirely LOVED this movie. THis is a MUST see.For haters & lovers. and no not because billzilions of ppl went/are going to see it. it is actually worth it i promise. i did like the first one, but i knew to lower my expectations because they were on a budget ...a low one. This one fits the hype and redeems the first one completely & i don't have to kill Kristen because she did pretty decent. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOUUUU
25i haven't seen it yet, i'm going tomorrow..con. crats. cast and crew!!!!!

29SUCK IT ALL DAMN HATERS!!!!!!!!!
I love how people are called haters because some of us just aren't into all things Twilight.I saw the first movie a few months ago.It was okay. Not the best movie I have seen but not the worst.People come to Pop for celebrity news. Not for a play by play of everything the Twilight cast does.It doesn't make me a hater.Good for them for having fame. They should enjoy it while they can.I've been on this site for over 3 years. The sites isn't how it use to be.Hopefully when the last movie comes out people will move on and start posting on other things.
30That is my favorite dress Kris wore.
31This is what I look for a long time information, are very grateful.
