i'm thrilled that it did so well but i wonder of the top 2 movies opened on wed or thurs rather than friday like this one did. i know that some of the BIGGEST movies did that - and they had an extra day or 2 on this movie.
1SUCKY MOVIE
2As a true fan of the books i was so disappointed with the movie. I don;t understand why a love story about Bella and Edward is turning into a love triangle with a wolfboy that Bella saw as a brother in the books. Too much Jacob, too much shirtless wolves, too much bad dialog, not enough Edward and Bella moments and the ending was rushed. I'm glad i saved my money and watched it online. Summit pandered to the lowest common denominator of tween girls and the movie suffered because of it.
3I thought the movie was great! Watched it last night with hubby and he enjoyed it too, which is surprising. I didn't really care for the reviews it got, you knew the theaters were going to blow regardless. I like how the characters interacted a lot more with each other in this movie, than they did in the first one. I thought it was easier to relate more to them and understand why they felt certain things. I can't wait for Eclipse, It was my favorite book!!!!!!!!!
4i saw the movie twice and loved it!
5i thought it was amazing
Bella is in love with Jacob in the third book, and her feelings start turning that way in the second book during Edwards absence. How can a true fan forget that? I don't understand.
6I'm relieved it didn't break the box office record for the whole weekend, would have made me feel very sad for mankind.
7well popsugar, i'm glad your tireless and relentless promotional strategy paid off, and i hope you get a cut of those millions, because you were obviously being paid well for your efforts.
ps, saw the movie. funniest thing i've seen since 'pineapple express'
8I've just seen it, and i totally fell in love with Jacob. :-)He was cute and acted well, too. i think it's much better than Twilight.
9I'm thrilled that a movie with Horrible acting and bad story line did well, too. **rolling my eyes** I've seen better films on Lifetime
10Oh great, just great. Now we'll have at least a decade of crappy teen flicks with werewolves, vampires, and panting girls.
11I am a diehard Twi-hard fan - read all the books and loved Twilight the movie. Have watched it over and over again. First of all (to #6) Bella never falls 'in love' with Jacob throughout the entire saga - she loves him as a person, but not in the romantic way that she does Edward. Having said that, I was so disappointed in New Moon, it was heartbreaking to watch. There was no fun in it, no humor, it was just flat - and Kristen Stewart who I adore, wasn't nearly as good as she was in Twilight or in any of her other movies. And Robert was pathetic. Taylor was the best actor in it. It pains me to say this.
12I find it funny that the people who don't like Twilight spend their time commenting on something they don't like....I don't really understand that.
13LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The movie is great!!!!! I was just expecting a little more from the scenes in which he leaves her, the one in which they are reunited in Italy and their meeting with the Vulturi. They are much more intense in the book. But all in all, it was BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CONGRATS!!!!!!!
14#12, Bella does fall in love with Jacob, but she just doesn't love him nearly as much as she loves Edward.
"I was in love with him, but it was not enough to change anything; it was only enought to hurt us both more" - Eclipse, pg 528
That is why it's so hard for her to let go of him.
15wow. ok
16Sunday isn't over yet though..
17just saw the movie.. its amazing.. i can only recommend people to go see it. it really lives up to the book.
18but some of you are right tough... some of the scenes should have been more intense like in the book.
19But I can only feel sorry for the people who hasnt read it and hasnt felt it the same way.
And yes the last couple of scenes with bells and edward was a bit rushed.
But well if every single detail from the book was in it the movie would have been too long and draged out.
but like i said, i think it lives up to the book.
Ugh. If this movie beats HP I'm going to hit something. I loved Twilight up until everyone started getting psycho about it, now I can't stand it. People need to chill out about it being the "greatest love story ever". I did watch NM online though and thought it was very funny, and I loved Jacob
20The movie was OK, not as great as the book, same as Twilight. However, I wasn't as disappointed in New Moon as I was Twilight.
21Yes, the acting was not that great, some parts seem really rushed, and the movie wasn't very uplifting... but neither was the book. Definitely the saddest of the four.
i dont really understand #3's comment because if you read the books like you say you did you would know that new moon is primarily about jacob and bella.
22Read the books and enjoyed them for what they were, but I will NEVER understand the manic frenzy over this franchise! I thought the first movie was terrible, primarily due to Kristen Stewart being utterly painful to watch. But I suspect they could have put anything on the screen, affiliated it with the Twilight franchise and people would pay to watch it.
23IMO it doesn't live up to the books. We get hardly any Edward Bella action compared to what is actually in the book. The studio was so worried about the lack of Rob in this movie you'd think they would have at least taken full advantage of the time Edward is in the book and do Edward and Bella justice. How about the Romeo and Juliet scene on the sofa instead of rushed through in the classroom. How about at the end Bella wakes up in EDWARDS'S ARMS! IS that too much to ask. The whole movie felt rushed and the middle was pointless as it didn't even address the friendship of Jacob and Bella properly because it was too busy trying to set up the "love triangle" for the next movie which i won't be watching.
24No #22 new moon is not all about Jacob and Bella it's about Bella's loss of her true love and the brotherly friendship she develops with Jacob. She's spends the whole book wanting Edward. That's not what i got from the movie.
25Read the books and it was fine. But, the movie sucked. Unfortunately, acting is still the same weak and lame. This the best acting you can get from K.Stew and R. Pattinson. It's a waste of time and money.
26just now on yahoo news it said that the movie took in more than they oringally thought which was 140.7 million but it took in 258.8 MILLION
27LilyO, As the true fan that you are I really think you need to read your books AGAIN.
28I seen New Moon and Its ok, I liked Twilight better..
I liked acting of Kristen Stewart, she is amazing
29Most of you should read the books again.
30MY Opinion: so I watched New moon 2X and liked it.... the actors did a good job at making the movie as close to the book as possible... don't understand all of the Haters or the people who are making a big deal out of the movie, it was better than twilight for sure. Twilight was the begining of the great love and New Moon is the "end"(in Bellas eyes)of it in the book and the begining of a friendship with Jacob... I got all of that from the movie.... you were all warned that the movie was dark..!!! so why the nasty comments.. I did not like the book (new moon) it was depressing and found that the movie had some humor lines etc..
31I DID LIKE THIS MOVIE!!
Taylor was great, Kstew is the one who makes this movie and who made twilight..just in case you guys forgot Kstew made you feel all the feelings in twilight and she makes you feel the friendship in New Moon can't judge Rpatzz as his role was not very long to make a judgement. But the chemistry between Bella and Edward was there.. LOVE IT!
#29 you are right in saying Kstew was good!! She plays the perfect BELLA
im gonna have to agree with #28.
32I really really enjoyed this movie! having read all the books, I loved that it stayed so true to the book in terms of scenes and speech. Taylor did a good job as Jacob, funny-cute! not to mention he obviously worked very hard at the gym, so more credit to him!
I also
really loved the soundtrack and the story time advances-well done!! I want to go see it again just to really absorb it! Overall much much better than Twilight the director is great! loved it!
33Without quoting lines from the book Eclipse - I think we all know the Twilight saga is about Bella and Edward and their passionate love for each other. She was never in love with Jacob the way she was Edward..... 'not enough to change anything' as she said. I agree with #24's analysis. But I love Kstew and RPattz, and therefore will go to see Eclipse. Maybe New Moon would have been better with a different director or better editing - I think the best is probably on the cutting room floor.
34I'm so excited that new moon broke some box office records! I loved the movie it stayed true to the books as much as it could for a 2 hour movie! Bella does love Jacob but not even close to as much as she loves Edward.Edward is her everything and always will be, but Jacob helped heal the hole in her heart (as much as possible) while Edward was gone and in the process she fell in love with him too, its definitely not a brotherly love IMO.
35There's nothing brotherly about the kiss they share in Eclipse.
36YOU LOOK GREAT!!! CONGRATULATIONS THE MOVIE WAS AMAZING!!!
37I just saw the film. Liked it. It stayed pretty close to the book. The acting was good. After reading all the bad critic reviews I was expecting the acting to be really bad. I thought they all did a great job. Honestly movie critics, or as I call them, WELFARE FOR USELESS PEOPLE never impress me. Whenever boring middle aged critics are hyperventillating about a film, I avoid it like the plague.
Having said that I thought the romantic scenes lacked that Catherine Hardwick touch. The person who did Rob's make-up should be FIRED. What on earth did they do to his eyes? I had to watch Twilight again just to get those make up jobs out of my head.
38I really don't get those who say the movies have not been as good as the books...I read the series, love them as a guilty pleasure and can still admit the books are not well written. I loved the movie, and plan to see it again. I was annoyed that it seemed like Bella led Jacob on a little, but that is more realistic. She JUST lost the man she loves and she has a hole in her heart, so she gravitates to someone who makes her happy. Real life does tend to work like that.
39great just amazing
40saw the movie, was happy.
41i liked it, i knew there will be changes fr the book, but it was much better than the first one. anyway i had no expectation for the first one, so i wasn't diappointed. it was ok for such a low budget film. as for new moon, well, i had expectations, and i wasn't disappointed. everyone was great.
I was disappointed....not terrible but could have been much better.
42ugly actors, bad book, bad movies
overrated
43I totally agree with #31
You all knew it was dark and the book/movie was mostly about Bella and Jacob. And of course the loss and pain she feels.
44Just shows that there is no accounting for taste.
45I don't really know how this movie can be described as amazing....what was amazing about it?
46#3 I find it hard to believe you actually read the books with comments like that.
47#12- I thought the opposite about KStew- I always found her to be a horrible actress and found her role in New Moon a lot better then Twilight and even better then Adventureland.
#1 I agree with you- if they opened on a Wed. like the other top 2 movies it would have been #1 for the records and not #3.
I loved it and can't wait to go back and see it again!
loved it. period.
