what is kanye saying in the video? i cant play at work! hurry someone tell me!
1Ahh so many links, so little time. all I can say is I love Alyssa Milano!!
2I'm confused...what is vitange Kiefer?
3not diggin the aniston dress
4I have to say I agree with Adrianne Curry about the fact that Americans should concentrate on the fact that we are all American, not by race but nationality. I am not "Caucasian, non-Hispanic" "African American" "Asian American" or "Hispanic"- I am American.
5-Kanye West is one of the most disgusting excuses for a human being ever.
6-Jennifer Aniston is hella hot, work it girl.
-I have no idea what a .5 naked stripper like Dita has to do with spaying and neutering your pets, that's kinnda whack.
-Adrianna has many valid points, how can you say that she needs to shut up? At least her brain thinks about REAL issues not what Britney Spears is or is not wearing. Good for her I wish more people looking into how The United States really came to be and all of the horrid things that the white men ancestors did to the American Indians. Christopher Columbus and the Pilgrims came here and raped and killed tons of women and children, they spread syphilis and gonorrhea and then took all the Indians land and forced them to live on sh*tty reservations in sh*tty parts of the country. The only way we are ever going to overcome racism is to realize that so many of the things in place in today's society are blatintly racist. Maybe people should start thinking about REAL issues like these instead of pondering b.s. that has no value. You telling her to shut up is really ignorant and disheartening there is WAY more to life then untalented 'celebrities' and worthlessness to worship. It just makes me realize why people are so obsessed with celebs...they don't want to deal with reality.
I agree CestLaVie
7its time we focused more on being equal, and expecting people to treat others equally... as long as we seperate ourselves and claim that certain groups have special needs or need help with something it just holds them back more than anything..
8This is what I think of Kanye:
9He makes great beats but his personality sucks.
Kanye and a Siamese twin- yeah, coming out of his a$$. I can't stand him. Can a real artist put him in his place-please!
10OMG I cannot stand Kanye West!!! How big is that guy's head? I'm the number 1 human being......OMG get over yourself guy!
Love Jen, she looks awesome!!
I think Jessica would make a fantastic Wonder Woman, she has the beautiful eyes and the awesome body to pull off that costume! I'm sure the guys would love it!
I know Hilary is a young lady already but her possibly reading about orgasms creeps me out a little
11Awww, how sad! Anyone (Kanye) who has to talk about himself that much and assure the world that he's that wonderful has some insecurity issues... Poor little Kanye, one word: Therapy!
12I agree with Adrianne Curry, granted, she could have made the point in a more mature fashion, but I agree. We are all humans, and the only way to get rid of racism is to stop thinking of each other as skin tones and ethnicities. The whole Jena 6 thing needs to be seen as more than whites being mean to blacks, that whole town seems racist, no matter what the skin tone.
13Adrianne Curry has some very good points. The bigger deal we make about our skin being a certain color, the more we encourage racism...
14Apparently Kanye West is on some drugs that rival anything Britney, Lindsey or Paris could be on.
Is he a rapper or something?
He'll be irrelevant soon, as radio rappers are a dime a dozen. Here to day and gone tomorrow.
15I love pictures of Hilary rolling her eyes! Hehe cute.
16so loren, when is German Heritage month, or French Heritage month?... at some point in history everyones ansestors were some sort of victem so who is to say these ethnicities deserve their own months and others dont?
17Oh Kanye.........
18When my grandfather came here, it was all "Irish and dogs need not apply." How is THAT fair and equal. Adrianne hs some valid points and she doesn't need to shut up. See, she has this little thing called the First Amendment to back her up.
19LorenAshley-I don't think it is so much if you are from Hawaii/Africa/Spain we were agreeing with Ms. Currys statements on ..We are talking about how racist it is to base it on a skin color. I know several people of African descent that are white and black.... If you are simply having a heritage day based on where you are from..go right ahead. Here's to a German/American Indian/Irish day for me!! Whoo Hoo!!
20Adrienne Curry is right, though maybe she should have used other words instead. Nevertheless, I agree with her. Especially since the American population is a nice little mixture of lots of various nations. Unless, you are of Native American heritage - then you *really* are American.
On a lighter note: I think Jessica Biel would make a perfect Wonder Woman. At least, this idea doesn't sound as ridiculous as having Katie Holmes as Wonder Woman...
21I like what Adrienne Curry has to say. All of us "whites" are European mutts anyways...lol...im English, Danish, French and Scottish...i got lots to B*tch about then, right? No...im just an American...as is all the rest of us living here.
She shouldnt have to shut up...she has her rights.
On another note....Didnt Kanye have a huge religious painting done on the walls in his house and then have them paint him in the center like he is the center of everything. THATS how stuck on himself he is....he needs to STFU...not Adrienne.
22Kanye annoys the $h*t out of me...but I still like his music! We should annex a bit of land, float it out into the ocean and banish he and Paris Hilton on it together...forever.
23Here's my 2 cents on the Adrienne Curry thing, while I think her style of writing didn't help the issue, I do believe she is right.
I am a black latinamerican and I have never lived in the US, so correct me if I'm wrong on anything. With all honesty the first time I heard there was a such thing as "black history month" I thought it was just a joke. When I realized it was true I was completely dumbfounded, I think its one of the stupidest things I've ever heard.
I've seen racism and whatnot and I'm all for being proud of your heritage and history, but dedicating a month to black history???
I mean seriously instead of going around for however long with BHM couldn't they have just implemented black figures in history into the general history. What with the separation?
I really think she has a few good points, nobody is going to respect black people if this keeps on. You are all US americans, you and your country should be working to give you equal rights and celebrate all of your heritage, not putting aside one month specially for one race. I honestly think this whole Black History month thing makes for more racial issues.
Not to mention the whole scholarship situation, what if you're asian american? What then?
I might be being a bit harsh but seriously I don't go around talking about the racism my parents or grandparents had to endure, its a waste of time, its in the past, not to mention the people who did the racial action will never hear me. I stand in the present and complain about the racial issues I face today.
24I totally agree with Adrienne. By having these special funds and designated months it promotes separating and racism, saying that there are differences when really we should be taught about tolerance, acceptance and that the only difference is the shade of our skin. And unless every month is going to be designated to every heritage in this melting pot of America then there should not be a Black History month. I mean could you imagine what would happen if there was WET, White Entertainment Television. People would explode. I can't believe pop said for her to shut up when a female celeb is actually talking about more then going out to club hyde.
25Still loathe Kayne. Someone kick him off his high horse PLEASE!
I actually agree with Adrienne. Weird.
26Racism and inequality exists today in full force I EXPERIENCE IT, MY CHILDREN EXPERIENCE IT and I am highly doubtful that I will feel differently in my lifetime. Ignoring it is not going to make it better
Also, back when BET was invented, everything that wasn't BET WAS WET...now
things are a little different and you couldn't pay me to watch BET. Black history month was instituted at a time when there was no mention of the contribution of people of color to this
country. Now, text books are a little more (but only a little, seriously) inclusive. Don't sleep people!
Kanye
that guy cracks me up.
27Kanye shut the **** up already....you don't always have to be talking about how great of an artist you are, we already know!
28hvnly, you bring up a valid point on when Black History month was created, but why not focus our attention on advancing our text books instead of Black History month? Also i firmly believe EVERYONE has experience racism, I don't care if you are black, white, Asian, or Idian. It happens everyday to every race. I just think much more would come out of focusing in unity then seperation.
29I work with a guy from Sierra Leone, in West Africa and just this past weekend we were talking about the racial issues here in America.
He is a true African..very intelligent and very proud. He told me that when he first came to America he couldn't believe how the black race acted here. He was actually insulted that they were called "AFRICAN" Americans because a lot of them were drug users/dealers, unemployed, living off the system, doing illegal things, rap music telling our youth to kill and use drugs, and so forth. He refuses to call them African Americans because he says that Africans are proud and hard working people (which he is). He came to America because of outside people coming into his village and killing people there because of all the diamonds there. Basically because of the greed of other people he was run out of his own home.
He said that in his culture there would be no mothers fighting with daughters, or people using all their money for drugs when there are children that need to be fed. He said that families still mean something in his villiage. He said here in America there is NO culture, people have no respect and they do what they want to do without any regaurd for anyone else..I hate to say it, but when he said we had no culture here in America that really struck a nerve because he is right. I'm raising my children in a culturless environment. I think America was a great country, but we got lost in what was politically correct and now we are paying for it..just like POPSUGAR saying that Curry needs to shutup..this coming from a website that promotes people's troubles and shortcomings and makes money off of it! How nice POP.
30I'm sorry Misty Edge. But that's just impossible. Your friend has not met every African person. It's absolutely impossible that there are no losers on that whole continent. Absolutely impossible. There are losers everywhere.
JUST AS IT IS IMPOSSIBLE that all African Americans are losers. I have a great culture. I'm sorry that you don't, but I do. And my father is not a loser. He's never done drugs, or sold drugs, and he has great respect for people. I never went one day of my life without food. He is a hard worker and he is African American.
So your friend needs to open his eyes and meet more people. I have a whole family full of people who would contradict what he's experienced.
31Hvnly
Comeon..I don't agree with your comment before there was BET there was only WET (white entertainment tv) before there was BET there was:
The Jeffersons
The Nipsy Russel Show
Good Times
The Jackson 5 Hour
Fat ALBERT
The Cosby Show
Soul Train
Sanford and Son
and more these were just the ones off the top of my head..
PBS regularly introduced history of the black race and their accomplishments, also the musical and sports stars (BEFORE BET)were plenty popular and world wide known and celebrated.
BET was not the first tv company to air stories or programs that were targeted for the black race..people are so quick to blame and point fingers when there is no need to...
32Adrianne Curry sounded dumb on that blog, but most people do sound stupid. That's why blogs bug me.
33BUT I do understand her point. When we separate, we do separate. But sometimes people want to group themselves with others with whom they feel an affinity. And that's not wrong. But it does exclude others. Boycotting BET seems silly to me.
But I think she does have a good point about Black History Month. It does annoy me that we have so many months like that. It lets people just focus on Black History for one month and then ignore it for the rest of the year. Of course, not everyone does that. But I found that to be the prevailing wave when I taught.
"He was actually insulted that they were called "AFRICAN" Americans because a lot of them were drug users/dealers, unemployed, living off the system, doing illegal things, rap music telling our youth to kill and use drugs, and so forth. He refuses to call them African Americans because he says that Africans are proud and hard working people (which he is)."
Stereotype much? (Not you, but he man you are referring too. LOl)
I'm just saying that is a great example.
34I "boycott" BET because I can't handle most of the shows on there. LOL. It's too raunchy of humor for me.

I didn't say that my friend had met EVERY PERSON in Africa..he was speaking of "HIS VILLAGE"..and we were talking about the general consensus of African Americans here in America..I'm sorry if you can't understand it, but they do act different here in America than in other parts of the world. I went to London for 2 months and when I met a local white or black person from London the only difference was the color of their skin. There is no racism there, no language differences..their speech is the same..and they carry themselves the same. In groups there are whites eating with blacks and there is no mention of not liking someone or someone being discriminated against because of their color. The whole reason me and my friend were having the conversation in the first place is why the Black race is different in America as compared to the rest of the world.
And my co-worker has been here for 6 years and he was only telling me the opinion he has based on his observations since he's been here..if you don't agree oh well..it doesn't make your view right just because you disagree. You aren't the one from another country coming to a new place and seeing all of these people in a different light..everything you see you are used to. He was NOT used to seeing what all he has seen since being here.

we live in St. Louis and per capita it's the most dangerous city in the country. He works as a registered Nurse in the ER on the week-ends and attends Medical school during the week to become a physician.. I don't think he's stereo typing at all when 90% of the people he sees come through the doors of the ER are high, shot, beat up, stabbed, dead, and these are men, women, and children..we have seen the horrors of what people do to each other and it's very dis hearting...(Im not saying white people are immune to this, but in St. Louis this is what we see most of) he's just calling it like he sees it and unless you are witness to that then you would not understand.
37Vintage Kiefer?! That clip isn't even 2 years old.
When I see some vintage Kiefer it
better be some Lost Boys Kiefer. I'm talking 1987 people!

well said, notoriousrem_22, race is going to continue to be an issue as long as people MAKE it one, we should just accept people and judge them by their hearts and minds, race is IRRELEVANT!
40In college I was friends with many students who came from Africa. They too were surprised by the way African Americans acted in the US at first until they saw mostly it was negative stereotyping. Once they realized that most African Americans were not dealing drugs and shooting people they found it easier to connect. Although they still don't like rap music and find "urban" fashion immature. Not saying this is the general consensus of people from Africa just my experience.
41Well, in my "village" people who say that a whole ethnic group does ____ or acts like ____ are considered racist.
But hey, that's just my village!
We also have jobs in my village and were ranked the second safest city in the US for three years while I was growing up. But hey, I must not be seeing the truth because I was raised there. Your friend's experience in the ER of one hospital in one city definitely outranks my experiences. I'm sure that he knows all about my family. My bad.
And I have spent tons of time in London, and I dont know where you were, but there are definitely some race relations issues there. The whole world is like that. My sister in law still lives there and she encounters plenty of issues every day.
I don't know what kind of people he thinks he's going to meet when he works in an ER. Aren't people usually at their worst there? Isnt that the point?
He needs to go branch out and meet new folk. I wouldnt base my sole opinions of a country and an ethnic group based on my experiences in an ER.
42crystalvillage - I encountered the same thing in college. I went to a religious school and so there were a lot of students there from conservative areas overseas because their parents felt "safer" sending them to a church school in the US than a "party" school. I also found that they thought that most AA were thuggish and tried initially to stay away from them. But after realizing that what is on music videos isnt the real world, they came to feel perfectly comfortable with AA.
That's the beauty of reaching out and actually getting to know people before you categorize them. Stereotypeds are based on a little truth and a lot of ignorance.
43Oh my...
Kanye is not modest/humble AT ALL.
WOW.
Alicia Keys & Rihanna looks great in each of their videos.
44i think everyone is forgetting the context leading to the establishment of black history month: a context in which there was no general integration of blacks into our history books and an unwillingness to acknowledge the contributions blacks made to this country, blatant physical, verbal and emotional racism, and one in which blacks were not generally seen on tv or in movies (and if they were, i'm sure i don't need to spell out in which roles they typically appeared). the fact that someone on here can pick out the handful of "black" shows on tv at that time only emphasizes my point that exclusion, not inclusion, was the rule: these shows were not representative of the programming shown at the time. one doesn't tend to notice the usual, the general or the everyday. usually, if it sticks in your head, it's because it's an unusual occurrence.
so nikecold, when you ask "couldn't they have just implemented black figures in history into the general history. What with the separation?", the answer is that of course they (whoever that is) could have. with enough will, they could have done anything. the point is that they (society as a whole) DID NOT generally integrate black figures in history and wouldn't have done any acknowledgment without being pushed to do so. what would you have done? accepted your exclusion, or fought like hell to change it?
one can argue about whether black history month is still needed and whether it has served its purpose, but i challenge anyone to tell me that it was never needed, that it was pointless or that it's only purpose and/or result was divisiveness.
i'm happy that most of you seem to be living in such wonderfully integrated and blissfully accepting towns/cities/counties/states that you see no need for special months commemorating the accomplishments of any one particular ethnic group. would that we all lived in such beatific communities!
and when people say that "they do act different here in America than in other parts of the world" that pisses me off and only emphasizes to me that blacks here in america still have a long way to go. first: of course blacks act differently here! slavery here was like slavery nowhere else in the world at the time and, to state the obvious, the country and its citizens created circumstances and micro-cultures different than one would find anywhere else in the world. second: well, i won't even go into my "they" tirade. i could fill pages.
as for the suggestion that the races are living in bliss and harmony everywhere else in the world; i.e., that trouble causing blacks only exist here in the good ole U.S. of A., that's one of the most laughable suggestions i have come across in a long while. as someone from another country and who has resided in other countries for extended periods of time, i suggest that you try actually living in a place for a while rather than just coasting. i have absolutely no doubt that you'll start to see the fissures in that country. by the way, where are you living that you don't see "whites eating with blacks"?!
as for that african fellow, as an immigrant myself, i know that immigrants often see their home countries through severely rose-tinted glasses. everyone in their peer/ethnic/class group suddenly becomes a saint from a utopian society from which they were forcibly rejected by [INSERT FORCE HERE]. boy, would i love to talk to him!
45Ahh radar, I thought it might say vintage...now that makes sense. Guess it might have made MORE sense had I actually watched the video ha ha
46WOW! i cant believe what im reading here.
esk..i did not say the other people did not go through anything! i understand that but since i am black i had to say that we are NOT the only ones with months and scholarships and colleges. im sure you people know that blacks werent allowed to go to certain colleges. Blacks were NOT being played on MTV.
Why the f*ck are you people even agreeing with someone who says slavery "sucks major balls" and they need to "get the f*ck over it" YOU get the f*ck over your ancestors being breeded like animals. YOU get over your babies being sold to other "masters." YOU get over watching your husband and son getting beaten daily. YOU get over your body being taken from you on a nighty basis. I would love for her to talk all that to a black persons face!!
She also said the jewish people dont complain about the holocaust. umm theyre not complaining because they got their reparations, they have museums all over the place. blacks dont really have anything compared to what the jews have.
Also about scholarships for white people..there are PLENTY of them readily available! My booklet that i got in my majority white high school was worded like "for students of german descent" or polish or irish or russian or whatever! her friends could also feel free to fill out a FAFSA! There is so much money out there or people to go to college.
people are so sad and pathetic. this half alien looking skank is trying to get publicity. wh*re.
i think it's great to be proud of what you are. i am a black woman and i am very proud of what i am. wether you are white, asian, latino, whatever LOVE AND EMBRACE IT.
47"i'm happy that most of you seem to be living in such wonderfully integrated and blissfully accepting towns/cities/counties/states that you see no need for special months commemorating the accomplishments of any one particular ethnic group. would that we all lived in such beatific communities!"
So.... where's Irish History Month?
48not really sure what point you're making with your question, but answering it seriously: if you want it, go fight for it. if you're happy with just your st. patrick's day parade, then great.
49why dont you rally for irish history month?
why are you asking us where it is? we have nothing to do with wether irish people get months or not.
